Baten Kaitos does have a physical release - albeit seems to be skipping North America. However as the Switch is region free, you can just import either the Asian English or UK/Australian PAL versions.
Now thats a list of greatness if I've ever seen one. Every one of those games is going to be worth picking up imo. The fact it doesnt even count several others on the horizon is impressive. We are swimming in JRPG lately and thats a good thing. I do plan on picking up a physical or LE for all of these (including going to Play Asia if I have to....looking at you Baton Kaitos). Bank account is gonna be as empty as the Sahara desert :-0 (Also cant wait for more info on Metaphor)
I took a several year break away from jrpgs because I got burnt out on them but now I'm back and really enjoying the genre again. Really appreciate this list.
I would like to say Level 5 said their games will be at the Tokyo Game Show. So I'm expecting release dates at TGS. Personally excited for Fantasy Life i.
Those three games are at the top of my list also. I would definitely say keep an eye on Eiyuden Chronicles too. That game has a ton of potential and the writing is gonna put many other jrpgs to shame 💯
Honestly with the more info that has come out about P3 Reload, they are bringing back a lot of the features and story content from FES, the only real thing missing is The Answer.
For me, Ys X: Nordics, Star Ocean: The Second Story R, DecaPolice, and CryMachina are my most anticipated. There are many that I'm interested in beyond that as well; Legend of Nayuta, Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5 Tactica, GranBlue Fantasy: Relink, and Infinity Strash: Adventure of Dai being the ones I'll probably pick up. Looking forward to a lot of action RPGs, it seems.
I'm actually shocked the DQ3 2DHD remake isn't chugging along a bit faster. I'm so looking forward to the Eiyuden vs Suikoden Remake shootout. I guess competition really does make everyone level up. Just unfortunate that Suikoden as a franchise doesn't seem to be in a position to continue.
Baten Kaitos is getting a European release, I pre-ordered it and it should arrive September 19, so if you can't find a release in your region and they won't make one, grab the European physical release!
GBF gacha game is actually available globally. It is one of the most accessible ones due to it being mobile and the content is actually synched with Japan.
I am so looking forward to so many games that are coming up. I had to make the hard choice to decide which game to pre-order with Granblue Fantasy Relink or Persona 3 Reload but I'll probably get both lol. On top of that I can't wait to try Nayuta and, when it comes out, Fantasy Life i !!!!
Ys X hmm. when NIS going to license this guy. properly either 2025 or Assuming if 1 games per year then it will be 2026. In 2024 we have trails through Daybreak. Then, 2025 we have Crimson Sin. After that, 2026 YsX english released. OR if they don't want too late maybe 2 games within 1 year in 2025.
I appreciate the list but I have to ask in all honesty...who in the world is going to have time to play and complete all these games? Many people have used the term "JRPG fans are eating!" But c'mon...we can only eat so much! Unless you're retired, no job, no wife, no kids, etc...completing jrpgs in 2023 in virtually impossible! Let us breathe a little.
Just a thought about Persona 3 Reload not releasing on Switch... Is it possible that with all these "Switch 2" rumours circulating that Nintendo may actually be about to unveil a new console and Persona 3 is coming to that but for obvious reasons can't announce it? I'm hopeful for now.
I recently played suikoden 1&2 again after years of not playing them, and I’ll tell you they have not aged well. The story was ok, but other than a few moments, it really lacked that punch that made me want to care about the world. But the thing that really ruined it for me was just how bad the translation was, the quality was just inexcusably bad, even in suikoden 2 where their budget was so much more, Konami really dropped the ball.
Whats the problem with p5 spin-offs? Atlus is not three men team, thats a big studio and they need to have atleast two releases in a year to keep investors happy. And they deffently working on p6 in the background
Star Ocean and Persona 3 are my go to! And straight for the throat if the Persona 3 skips out on the PSPs female protagonist, losing FES is crappy enough.
theres alot of remaster....are they making this just for nostalgic reason??? or theres no more creativeness to make new jrpg from these companies nowadays.
I was thinking the same thing about Wandering Sword, surprisingly a couple of the people I've watched with videos like this recently have missed it even though it seems right up their alleys. Had to look into Small Saga and it looks like a fun time too, definitely both good suggestions.
Erik, I was happy to know what if my favorite RPGs was getting a remake, but after playing Star Ocean demo, it’s going to blow us all out of the water! Absolutely beautiful! The guy who was in charge of the demo, says it stays true to the game but enhances aspects which make the hame even better! The classic feel but with beautiful graphics remain intact! Since eiyuden is delayed to next year, this game is easily my most anticipated game for the rest of the year
WAIT ERICK did you say the manga of dragon quest adventures of dai, died?! No! It didn't I read the entire series beginning to end! It did have a proper ending I promise you!!!
I just want to let you guys know that Eternights will release on the 12th. It's an action rpg with a bit of dating sim, like Persona but action. Looks interesting tbh and I already pre-ordered it on Steam.
Star Ocean: The Second Story R, Super Mario RPG Remake, the Nayuta game looks interesting, and Infinity Strash. Also, hoping for more info on Ys 10, Dragon Quest 3 2D-HD remake and Dragon Quest 12.
When Gran Blue Fantasy Relink in development, was *expecting* a Switch release. It's a bummer there's *no* Switch release...yet. Hope there might be down the line. *Wish* that Dragon Quest Adventures of Dai got a Western physical release, rather than being limited to Asian physical.
This year and next year lots of big RPGs. Also new expansion to Tales of Arise, probably with a new Tales of game coming out next year too. We still have the juggernaut in FF7 coming out as well. I'm happy I've got a year plus of RPGs coming out in the next 6 months.
im not surprised Disgaea 6 didn't do too well. The story was fine imo and the 3D aspect was pretty good too to me ^^ My one main issue with it though is that it brought down the speed of some characters and their flashy attacks. For example, you know that insane blitz move Adell had in the previous 2D disgaea games where he's just barraging away at the enemy before blowing them up with the freaking force or something XP? Well here, its a series of painfully slow light jabs doing the same moves. I will grant a part of the issue behind dev (least as far as im aware of) is due to them making the mobile Disgaea game during the same time (hence one thing had more work on it than the other) but they could've at least made sure everything felt "fast paced" in combat or something like all the originals- i know it'd be a bit trickier due to the 3D graphics needing more power to make everything run smoother, but that's all just what I feel involves why the game didn't do as well as the past disgaea games. All the same definitely looking forward to 7 ^^
Baiten Kratos is physically in Europe for sure. I will confess not many games on your list excite me. Star Ocean and Super Mario RPG do though. Guess I can't wait for the new Ys game.
Oh yeah, Metal Slug Tactics... I thought it was out and I just missed the announcement but nope. Anyway: picking up Fate/Samurai Remnant when it's out, no doubt! Also tempted by Mario RPG but I don't know, will have to see lol Once at a time!
I'm looking forward to more than half on the list there! I'M ready, but my wallet isn't! lol I'm going to have to disappear around Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Year! xD
Star Ocean is not a 2dhd remake, can tell with the 3d backgrounds and pixel art characters. It looks a bit off to me and I do not think it will stand the test of time, unlike Octopath or the original version.
I can confirm that "Nayuta Boundless Trails" has already been out for a while, at least a year if I recall But regardless, would recommend if you not played it yet
Maybe getting: Eiyuden Chronicles, Suikoden remaster, Star Ocean remaster Definitely getting: Deca Police, Mario RPG, P5 Tactica, Dragon Quest Dai. Little surprised you didn't mention the more recent Dragon Quest Dai anime which the game is based off. In any case, really good video, man!
@@eduardogaxiola3907 Yep. I've been playing the browser game for several years now and Bahamut is the first summon you get at the beginning of the game. Many other awesome summons as well, so I definitely believe this would right up your alley 💯
Have you thought of talking about rpgs that have a slow or bland or even straight up bad start, but get very good later? And/or rpgs that have a great start but get worse and disappointing later? Not sure how much spoiler-free its better to go in these kind of videos, but anyways its always up to you.
From what I read it sounds like Disgaea 6 was like a "practice" game for the developers to prepare to make Disgaea 7 as they have taken elements and refined them. For example, auto-battle was introduced in 6 as a new very divisive game mechanic that feels like it betrays the spirit of the game to some but feels like a solution to grinding to others. Disgaea 7 seems to be finding a happy medium where you can only auto battle a stage after winning a fight legitimately at least once.
Baten Kaitos does have a physical release - albeit seems to be skipping North America. However as the Switch is region free, you can just import either the Asian English or UK/Australian PAL versions.
Fate samurai looks fun. It's probably going to be a semi dynasty warrior dark soul game but I like when you can customize weapons
I wouldn't dark soul game it More like dystany warrior game with action rpg elements+nioh like boss.
1. Fate Samurai Remnant
2. Granblue Fantasy Relink
3. Decapolice
4. Cry Machina
5. Star Ocean 2 R
6. Mario RPG Remake
7. Disgaea 7
8. Nayuta
9. Baten Kaitos 1&2 remaster

I did something really similar but my flame was reignited with some retro RPGs like Lunar and 2D Pokémon (even if it’s not really a JRPG).
I would like to say Level 5 said their games will be at the Tokyo Game Show. So I'm expecting release dates at TGS. Personally excited for Fantasy Life i.
not mentioned, but I’m excited for Eternights… still wanting Trails in the Sky and Cold Steel 1 & 2 to come to Switch!
Eternights is one of my most anticipated games I’ve had in years.
How are those games not on the switch yet?
It's like mid 2000's again! JRPGs are keep rolling and rolling and couldn't be more happy.🤗
There're very many good RPGs this year man, I'll have to do some extra jobs to pay for it 😅
Metaphor Refantazio is also supposed to be next year (though I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they pushed it back to 2025).
This. I can't believe it didn't got even a mention. It was the most interesting announcement this year for me.
@@lokasocba Same, it's the game I'm most looking forward to.

Erik : New games coming out! So first we have Fate Sam-

Persona 3 Remake will be on "Switch 2", mark my words
Either that or the definitive version
For sure
Granblue and cry machina are the ones that i'm excited for. I love nier automata and baton kaitos!
Subscribed just cause of Fate/Extra Record mentioned.
There is a remake of the Dai anime that finishes the story. If you are still interested, you May wanna check it out

Anyone watching this video not playing Sea of Stars should probably rectify that problem it's incredible
There's also a remaster, I think, coming these days: Rhapsody Marl Kingdom Chronicles, by NIS America.
I’m happy that so much promising RPG are going to be released! Currently looking forward for Infinity Strash as a Dai’s fan 😇

I love the fact that Star Ocean games always release around my birthday. I never have to pay for them because I get them as gifts.
Its funny how most of these are remasters remakes or spirituel succocers to old games.
Eiyuden Chronicle always looks amazing and I can't wait. Also, looking forward to Star Ocean second story remake.
Pity they're not likely to give us a better ending for Persona 3.
Infinity Trash: Dragon Quest LOL it's so funny because it is trash for real when it is released.

Regarding Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes, there's HD footage around youtube now! It was uploaded some weeks ago

And I would like you to know that I have been here since 13k subs!
Erik, What do you think of the new Mana game coming in 2024? "Visions of Mana"
Great video but I am sad there is no mentioning of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Dragon Quest Monster: The Dark Prince and Rune Factory 3 Special
Dark times. Over half of the list are either remasters or remakes. Looking forward to Granblue though.
Wait wait wait, Persona 3 Reloaded is using the original? Armageddon for days.
Showing that people can talk bad about the current remaster/remake culture, but when there are good projects people get all on their knees about them
RUclips has a chapter system for videos. Why do you still refuse to use it?
You could at least post timestamps in the comments and pin it
