Another book I own is “ The witch’s book of self care” which I love! I was particularly attracted by “ A witch alone” because you said it deals with solitary practitioners and lunar cycles, so I have just bought it from Amazon! As to Deborah Blake, is she the author of the famous ‘The Everyday witch tarot deck’? I have it… lovely. Thank you 🙏

Such wonderful recommendations! I have a witch alone and a witches book of self care. Definitely going to check out the Earth Magic book and some of the others. I saved this to rewatch so I could write down the titles. May I recommend Rebel Witch by Kelley Ann Maddox and Walking the Self Worth Path by Lisa Papez as two that have been helping for me in developing my practice! I have all these books 📚 ❤ Good choices. 👍🏼 We are each on a different journey, so different books will spark different feelings. I actually recommend reading any and every book new and even older witches can get their hands on. I’ve been a witch for near 25 years. It is a very rare instance that I read a book and not get anything out of it. Sometimes a book can spark a single thought or concept - often well worth the price of the book. Other times a book on The Craft can be a treasure trove of knowledge. Sadly, the newer generation of witches seems to have a distaste for the older books. I find this troubling, because they are missing vast knowledge from our Elders. While we all say there is no “rule book/Bible” in Witchcraft, I find that seriously undervaluing the experience of witches who have been in The Craft for decades, if one is thinking the Old Ways is “old school” and not worth paying attention to. Anyway… soapbox moment done, LoL - I enjoyed your video. 💕Peace & Blessings, 🙏🏼 Sister Crone 🔮♥️

I understand exactly where you’re coming from in terms of reading whatever you can get your hands on and if that works for you, that’s fantastic. Unfortunately it didn’t work for me and just added to the massive sense of overwhelm that I was feeling. So taking it down a notch and getting recommendations from Witches who had been practising for many years was what worked for me. I like to think that the books I passed on were always meant to end up in the hands of someone who needed their words more than I did. For me that’s one of the many wonderful things about Witchcraft - we are free to carve our own path and learn what makes us thrive, learning from each other along the way ☺️
Loved this video! The book that had the most impact on me was one by Soraya, I first read it in my teens, and although I'm not Wiccan, like you it struck something within me :)

This was very enjoyable! I always love seeing everyone's witchy books and we seem to have similar taste! I also recommend The Way of the Hedge Witch, by Ann Murphy Hiscock, The Hedge Witch's Way, Hedge Witch and The Green Hedge Witch, all by Rae Beth, Hearth and Home Witchcraft, by Jennie Blonde, and any of the books by Tylluan Penry, for starters! So many books that are amazing out there! Have you read through the Llewellyn Essential Sabbats series? They are so much fun!

I know that feeling of ‘come home’ I didn’t know what I was until I just started doing what I ‘felt ‘ I too was in the closet and I’m also fifty something , my upbringing was to be seen and not heard it was only after three grown up children and they all went to live their own lives that I decided to do the things that fill my heart and to my amazement my children encouraged me . I just found you and subscribed ❤ I'm also 50something. I've also spent so much of my life trying to "get it together" spiritually. "Go to church! Pray more!" It's never worked. I've been so careful trying not to give away secrets about how I truly felt about religion and spiritually. It's a little scary at first, but I'm starting to really fully embrace my own path. Im going to give The Real Witch by Kate West a try. I recently read Withcraft Therapy: Banishing The Bullsh*t by Mandi Em. It's the first "self help" book I've ever finished. Reread. Took notes. She delivers advice with a little humor and lots of practicality. It's a little cursy and may not be everyone's cup of tea. However, it really helped me get over some of my fears; like will people even like me if I start just being my authentic self. Thank you for the list!

What a breath of fresh air your channel is, just come across and subbed obs 🤣what a lovely video! I love Cunningham and Marian Green is such a favourite. I do worry that some of the modern books are just regurgitating the masters and I prefer to go back to the sources and read the older books, which is why Cunnigham and Green are so useful to name but a few. I can't wait to watch your other videos. Im not Wiccan either but I agree and have often said it on my channel you can learn from all sources. Love Kate West! love that book its so magickal. Never apologise for being emotional about your craft and as a massive book lover I get how important a book that brings things into perspective is. lovely video x

I've always really liked Hedgewitch book of days by Mandy Mitchell. It's another simple cottage witchcraft style book that's lovely. Over the years I have read so many, starting back in the late 90's with Titania Hardie and Kate West. I love the Arin Murphy Hiscock books and some of Melusine Draco's books too. A recent addition for me is the green witches guide to herbal magic by the lovely RUclipsr the green witch, Annabel Margaret.

Thank you for your recommendations, I have a few of your books, no Kate West though so I will look into that. I can relate to what you said and when you mentioned coming home, I knew you were going to say that, because I felt the same when I found witchcraft. My favourite author is Cassandra Eason, I was drawn to her as she is a solitary witch and I was very lucky to meet her many years ago and do a mini workshop with her. So my favourite book is of course by Cassandra and really helped me on my path which it is called A year and a day in Magick, it’s old but can still be purchased on Amazon, it’s not cheap though. Sorry I have gone on so long, I love your videos 💜

I’m at last finding time ( making time!) to catch up with some more of your lovely videos. I have The Green Witch by Arin Murphy- Hiscock - I actually bought it last summer, I found it while I was browsing for books for my son’s partner - it’called’ to me & my deep love of nature (& I also bought a copy for my son’s partner too - she’s very similar to me, we share a lot of the same interests). It was reading it that first sparked in me the need to, at some point, set up my own altar. I put it on hold though as we’ve been busy refurbishing our new home. I of course have The real witches handbook, thanks to your recommendation 🥰🙂 It’s a gorgeous book & , while I haven’t yet finished it ( other things have had to take priority- my father in law has had another stay in hospital, so we’ve been focused on that) I’m finding it so easy & accessible and ideal to dip in & out of too, so I can indulge in even short bursts of reading & absorbing it. Thanks for the other recommendations too - I love books & reading & your vivid descriptions are great. Xx ❤️🌸

This is my third video of yours I have watched. I find them very interesting. I wonder what is the difference between a witch and a wiccan. I also wonder if you believe in God. Could you possibly address these questions? Thank you!
@@tammythomas9030 the easiest way to explain is that Wicca is a religion (a relatively new one, only around since the 1950s) with gods and goddesses as its basis,and that Witchcraft is a practice. My own practice is nature-based. I believe in the power of the Earth and in my own intent. I believe that our thoughts, words and deeds have power. I do not believe in ‘God’ as a single deity, but I have absolute respect for those who do. My practice is mostly solitary although I celebrate rites with other Witches in groups whose beliefs are broadly similar to my own. I hope this helps! Thank you so much for watching x

I get that your craft is based in nature and I respect that very much. I love plants and growing flowers so perhaps I'm actually practicing a craft myself without a label. I keep coming back to the Wizard of Oz where Dorothy is asked if she's a good witch or a bad witch. This is not meant to be disrespectful in any way. This is honestly the extent of my knowledge if you will until I stumbled upon your channel and now I'm fascinated. You a most definitely a good witch and perhaps there's no such thing as a bad witch. Scott Cunningham's Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner was the very first Witchy book that I ever read. I don't consider myself Wiccan, but that particular book with its pretty green cover will always have a special place in my heart. I'm reading Deborah Blake's The Goddess is in the Details right now. Lovely bits of everyday wisdom. I'm interested now in checking out Kate West.

I have all these books 📚 ❤ Good choices. 👍🏼 We are each on a different journey, so different books will spark different feelings. I actually recommend reading any and every book new and even older witches can get their hands on. I’ve been a witch for near 25 years. It is a very rare instance that I read a book and not get anything out of it. Sometimes a book can spark a single thought or concept - often well worth the price of the book. Other times a book on The Craft can be a treasure trove of knowledge. Sadly, the newer generation of witches seems to have a distaste for the older books. I find this troubling, because they are missing vast knowledge from our Elders. While we all say there is no “rule book/Bible” in Witchcraft, I find that seriously undervaluing the experience of witches who have been in The Craft for decades, if one is thinking the Old Ways is “old school” and not worth paying attention to. I understand exactly where you’re coming from in terms of reading whatever you can get your hands on and if that works for you, that’s fantastic. Unfortunately it didn’t work for me and just added to the massive sense of overwhelm that I was feeling. So taking it down a notch and getting recommendations from Witches who had been practising for many years was what worked for me. I like to think that the books I passed on were always meant to end up in the hands of someone who needed their words more than I did. For me that’s one of the many wonderful things about Witchcraft - we are free to carve our own path and learn what makes us thrive, learning from each other along the way ☺️
Loved this video! The book that had the most impact on me was one by Soraya, I first read it in my teens, and although I'm not Wiccan, like you it struck something within me :)

This was very enjoyable! I always love seeing everyone's witchy books and we seem to have similar taste! I also recommend The Way of the Hedge Witch, by Ann Murphy Hiscock, The Hedge Witch's Way, Hedge Witch and The Green Hedge Witch, all by Rae Beth, Hearth and Home Witchcraft, by Jennie Blonde, and any of the books by Tylluan Penry, for starters! So many books that are amazing out there! Have you read through the Llewellyn Essential Sabbats series? They are so much fun!

I know that feeling of ‘come home’ I didn’t know what I was until I just started doing what I ‘felt ‘ I too was in the closet and I’m also fifty something , my upbringing was to be seen and not heard it was only after three grown up children and they all went to live their own lives that I decided to do the things that fill my heart and to my amazement my children encouraged me . I'm also 50something. I've also spent so much of my life trying to "get it together" spiritually. "Go to church! Pray more!" It's never worked. I've been so careful trying not to give away secrets about how I truly felt about religion and spiritually. It's a little scary at first, but I'm starting to really fully embrace my own path.

I recently read Withcraft Therapy: Banishing The Bullsh*t by Mandi Em. It's the first "self help" book I've ever finished. Reread. Took notes. She delivers advice with a little humor and lots of practicality. It's a little cursy and may not be everyone's cup of tea. However, it really helped me get over some of my fears; like will people even like me if I start just being my authentic self.

What a breath of fresh air your channel is, just come across and subbed obs 🤣what a lovely video! I love Cunningham and Marian Green is such a favourite. I do worry that some of the modern books are just regurgitating the masters and I prefer to go back to the sources and read the older books, which is why Cunnigham and Green are so useful to name but a few. I can't wait to watch your other videos. Im not Wiccan either but I agree and have often said it on my channel you can learn from all sources. Love Kate West! love that book its so magickal. I've always really liked Hedgewitch book of days by Mandy Mitchell. It's another simple cottage witchcraft style book that's lovely. Over the years I have read so many, starting back in the late 90's with Titania Hardie and Kate West. I love the Arin Murphy Hiscock books and some of Melusine Draco's books too. A recent addition for me is the green witches guide to herbal magic by the lovely RUclipsr the green witch, Annabel Margaret.

Thank you for your recommendations, I have a few of your books, no Kate West though so I will look into that. I can relate to what you said and when you mentioned coming home, I knew you were going to say that, because I felt the same when I found witchcraft. My favourite author is Cassandra Eason, I was drawn to her as she is a solitary witch and I was very lucky to meet her many years ago and do a mini workshop with her. So my favourite book is of course by Cassandra and really helped me on my path which it is called A year and a day in Magick, it’s old but can still be purchased on Amazon, it’s not cheap though. Sorry I have gone on so long, I love your videos 💜

I’m at last finding time ( making time!) to catch up with some more of your lovely videos.
I have The Green Witch by Arin Murphy- Hiscock - I actually bought it last summer, I found it while I was browsing for books for my son’s partner - it’called’ to me & my deep love of nature (& I also bought a copy for my son’s partner too - she’s very similar to me, we share a lot of the same interests).
It was reading it that first sparked in me the need to, at some point, set up my own altar.
I put it on hold though as we’ve been busy refurbishing our new home.
I of course have The real witches handbook, thanks to your recommendation 🥰🙂
It’s a gorgeous book & , while I haven’t yet finished it ( other things have had to take priority- my father in law has had another stay in hospital, so we’ve been focused on that) I’m finding it so easy & accessible and ideal to dip in & out of too, so I can indulge in even short bursts of reading & absorbing it.

This is my third video of yours I have watched. I find them very interesting. I wonder what is the difference between a witch and a wiccan. I also wonder if you believe in God. Could you possibly address these questions? Thank you!
@@tammythomas9030 the easiest way to explain is that Wicca is a religion (a relatively new one, only around since the 1950s) with gods and goddesses as its basis,and that Witchcraft is a practice. My own practice is nature-based. I believe in the power of the Earth and in my own intent. I believe that our thoughts, words and deeds have power. I do not believe in ‘God’ as a single deity, but I have absolute respect for those who do. My practice is mostly solitary although I celebrate rites with other Witches in groups whose beliefs are broadly similar to my own. I hope this helps! Thank you so much for watching x

I get that your craft is based in nature and I respect that very much. I love plants and growing flowers so perhaps I'm actually practicing a craft myself without a label. I keep coming back to the Wizard of Oz where Dorothy is asked if she's a good witch or a bad witch. This is not meant to be disrespectful in any way. This is honestly the extent of my knowledge if you will until I stumbled upon your channel and now I'm fascinated. You a most definitely a good witch and perhaps there's no such thing as a bad witch. I hope not anyway. I will continue to watch your videos as I find them informative nd calming. Thank you so much again for your videos and your honesty.
Scott Cunningham's Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner was the very first Witchy book that I ever read. I don't consider myself Wiccan, but that particular book with its pretty green cover will always have a special place in my heart. I'm reading Deborah Blake's The Goddess is in the Details right now. Lovely bits of everyday wisdom. I'm interested now in checking out Kate West.
