I love the snow. And the colder the winter, the better. :) Taxachusetts - ya, forty+ years ago. Those days are long gone. Massachusetts usually ranks in the middle of all states (around #25) for overall tax burden.
We definitely are not the worst for taxes anymore. But my state income tax is far more hefty then my brothers In Pennsylvania. My property taxes are also higher. They also just enacted the “millionaires tax” which will surely have MA make a jump on that tax burden list.
I visited Boston in 1983, in Springbrake, it was Great ,I remerber that I visited some places like, Nine ,Metro in Lansdowne Street, Newbury Street, the Lennox and Prudential center, Boston University, the wonderful Fenway and Common Park , Wellesley and I remember the Green line, I think is an Amazing City..!!
This was pretty helpful for me. I'm looking to visiting Boston in a few months and maybe moving if I like it (My states rent cost are beyond out of control). I just need to see if I can find a place I can afford, but I do work for a pretty big company (compass group) so it should not be a problem. Plus I like cities. :P
@queenpans For me I just want to live in a city with good public transportation, cause I don't want to own a car and pay the extra expensive due to that, cause I can save that money for other things. Also Since I kinda don't date or well do anything I kinda would be happy with just a room with a small kitchen and a bathroom. In terms of cost at the very least I can find things in Boston, some of them have shared bathrooms though, but it nothing like where im from which is NJ. Up north in Jersey the average cost of apartment for just one bedroom is usually 2000+. There is like no options for studios. Now something like that would be kinda doable, but the problem in our Public transportation is beyond terrible. For me to get to my home to my job which is 10 minutes away by a Uber can cost me up to $50-70 dollars. lol (walking is not even doable cause a lot of sections have no sidewalks) Like i work for a company now that is all over and the pay is pretty good, so maybe in time ill get luckly and get something in Boston. But yeah I agree 100% with you the cost of living is out of control. I mean look at this livingwage.mit.edu/
Hmmmm… I agree with this list. But on the whole, the negatives outweigh the positives for me. The expense, the weather, the traffic, and the attitude were all enough for me to say “so long, Beantown!”
Hogie? Are you talking about Pittsburgh? Subs in eastern Mass, grinders in western Mass. And ask a Boston native where Springfield is, they're going to put it a couple miles from Seattle, LA or Hawaii cause it's outside 128 which is the great unknown.
Incorrect. Only Wawa calls it a Hoagie. We call them “subs”. And in the 23 years I have lived here… I have never heard someone say “get me a ham and cheese grinder”… Thanks for watching.
I’m sorry did he say 700,000 people in a 48 Sq mile area?? Oh my goodness is that dense! I also just Googled that the metro population in Boston is roughly 5-6 Million people in about 100 Sq miles. That is even more dense considering say Washington DC metro 6 Million and Philly around 7 Million. But the Sq miles of those cities is 3 -4 times the size as Bostons. Boston is a very dense congested city. No wonder why driving there is impossible. 😮😮😮😮😮
Boston has gotten worse every year for the last 7-10 years. It’s terrible now. Oh every level. Nightlife is a joke now. Prices are insane. Traffic forget it. Boring over priced and angry. Can’t wait to leave.
@@MovingtoBoston taxes, rents. Generally high cost of all things. ( diversity everywhere) in all forms and beyond just comes with all the college's and students.
I do hate it that much and do wanna move that much. Came back and thought I would give it another chance. I’m from here. But it doesn’t compare to other places. The people are what make it the worst. The traffic. The attitude.

Grew up in Delaware... It's not a hoagie or a grinder... It's a Sub!
Very nice video 👍
Thank you!
Bad traffic but good public transportation
Bad traffic may just be an under statement!
Hey Delaware boy: hoagies are Philly. We eat grinders (or grindahs, if yah local).

@@MovingtoBoston Born there. Admittedly grinder is more central and western Mass. But no one would understand hoagie outside of Philly.
