Their names are still well known. Lived city where a road was called second line west. Got changed to silken laumann and Terry Fox. Two great inspirations for many.
Jackie Barrett - 2015 Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles. He set three Special Olympics World Games records in the Men's Powerlifting Superheavyweight event, including Squat (611 lbs), Deadlift (656 lbs), and overall (1,538 lbs.) in spite losing his mom to cancer 9.5 months earlier. Barrett's amazing run at the 2015 Special Olympics World Games was almost comparable to Germany's Matthias Steiner who won an Olympics Weightlifting Gold Medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing a year after losing his wife as a result of a car accident. Today, Jackie the first Special Olympics athlete to be inducted into the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame, Newfoundland and Labrador Sports Hall of Fame, and Canada's Sports Hall of Fame.
