Great review. I just bought one and received it 3 days ago. Still learning about my new car. But one thing you got totally wrong in your review was seat management. It's basically all one step -- but it's conditional. Pulling the lever *or* the rear strap have the same function -- so people getting in can use the lever and people in the 3rd row can pull the strap to do the same thing. In addition, depending on the driving position, it is not necessary to fold the head rest before raising the seat. I'm also 6'2" and it's on the border of needing to be folded, I am doing it without. So basically for me, it's a one-step operation, not 3! For someone taller than me, you would need to fold the headrest first, making it two-step. The biggest negatives about this car for those considering: 1. Roof rack if you have the sunroof has a recommended carry limit of only 45lbs, which limits you to a basic open ski rack. It seems to be more of a center of gravity issue than anything else. Without the heavy sunroof, that limit increases to 100lbs. Overall, it's annoyingly low. 2. 3rd row power seats are a cool feature, and demonstrates super well in test drives, but once life kicks in and you put *anything* in the car, it quickly becomes a pain to switch modes because you have to clear absolutely everything out to make the transition. The positive side to this tradeoff is you get more overall cargo capacity.
Robert Araujo how did you like your Car? I'm stuck between the ford explorer and the Honda pilot, I'm currently a odyssey owner with 4 children and i want to upgrade now that my kids are older. Any suggestions?
Thanks for the review! I just purchased a Sport model as well and have to say I've thoroughly enjoyed the performance and feel. Going from a car to this was a step up in weight, and naturally it feels larger. Not unexpected. The one KNOCK I have on this vehicle is the brake pedal 'arm'... it's positioned too far forward and whenever i naturally move my foot over to apply the brakes, my foot hits that arm. I have to consciously attempt to avoid it by moving my foot 'down' slightly, It's not terrible but it's an obvious design oversight. I haven't been able to find a way to adjust that in particular. Other than that... just loving the Ford!
Great to see you had a review of one of these 2017s. Had the good fortune of picking up one last month. Just 16K miles on an XLT V6 Ruby Red. Like new. Shipped it from MI. Can't wait to get home to FLA to enjoy it.
I like your reviews man. Very relaxed. I am buying one of these tomorrow in Magnetic. It bugged me you didn't mention passenger power seats...lol...and FordPass is pretty cool too. seriously really clean walk around overall. Feels real.

On a long on ramp where I live, I usually get stuck behind people who's cars are kinda slow climbing the long grade. One of these was infront of me one day and as the ramp split into two lanes, I opened up my lb7 duramax, only sitting at 500hp, but usually pass everyone on this ramp. That explorer left me. I was and am impressed. Starting to look at matve getting one?
First time visiting, sub'd. Great video. Just bought the vehicle the other day and eager to pickup in a few days. Your review helps a lot with understanding all the features. Keep up the great work.
This was a great vid!! thank you so much for doing this!! I really want one and have been saving up for one. hopefully i will get one soon. Its very nice to see all the things it has to offer.
To get the middle row seats to fold while sitting in the back row, you just have to pull on the little rope thing :) pulling the rope thing will fold it, then pull it again to lift the seat up so you can walk out.
I have the charcoal Grey 2017 Explorer Sport. I love it! Hauls ass on the highway. It does look like an undercover cop car. People drive so slow when I'm behind them.I love when I sync my police scanner to the speakers. Lol
I test drove the Platinum and I love but I would love get the sport mode cause it's more sporty lol I love the new features that Ford put out, my grandparents had an 02 sport track and that was fun had to get rid of it 2 years ago cause it was getting worst
Great review! Love your channel! Picked a 16 Sport a few weeks back an love it. My only gripe is the non sliding rear bench...and the gas mileage but that's mainly my fault...can't keep my foot out of it! Keep it up, Mike! You keep filming and I'll keep watching.
I just bought a 2017 Sport in Ruby Red WOW wgat a gorges color looks as good as my new 2017 Escape Titanium in Rudy Red. Both are fully loaded. the Sport has the 401A package and the Escape has the 301A package. ordered them both at Wareham Ford Wareham Ma.
I have a Taurus company car and it is black and I will never get another black one again. It is so hard to keep clean. On top of that it is so hot in the Spring/Summer. Where I live in the deep south it is in the upper 90's to near 100 everyday. I have no idea where my head was when I ordered a black car.
I have a silver truck, it alway looks clean.. Black looks great in the evenings but its terrible to keep clean and it holds the heat in the summer for sure!
then trade it in 2 years later when it falls apart....but seriously, they look pretty similar. The fords IMO have cooler accents and styling. The Durango almost looks a little 'waggony'. The sport class Explorers have a touch of Range Rover to them (especially the white ones), and atleast in MN, I cant look at the black ones without thinking its a police car. The Durango comes with a V8, not sure how that compares directly to the v6 eco boost. I don't think you can go wrong with either choice.
Thank you ! The Sport and Platinum have the same engine. The Sport has slightly upgraded suspension. The main differences are in esthetics - exterior and Interior.. the Platinum feels more classy while the Sport feels.. sporty :)
Platinum has touch button to to fold second row 100% confirmed. Not sure though, but it think you can get it as an option in limited and sport trim as well
Alviniscute My parents actually own a loaded XLT explorer and the rear seats are actually waaay easier to use than depicted, to fold the second row to get to the 3rd row, you simply pull the lever all the way up and the seat folds and comes up with one motion.to get out of the 3rd row, you simply just pull the rope thingy and the seat will ford and go up giving you plenty room to get out.you don't need to pull the lever and the rope thingy and you don't need someone to help you.
+AutoVlog Mike, as I know you work for Ford I have a question. Last month I had a really bad accident with my Mondeo ( I sent you a picture of the car), and unfortunately destroyed it. I'm looking for another car, as Ford made me this offer. Question is simple: what's the real gas mileage on the Mustang Ecoboost? City is my main concern. Sorry for the long comment, always liking your videos. Take care
Is the "MASSAGE 💆" feature available in the sport model? How about the rear seat screens? Ford dealer in Saudi Arabia is too lame to provide the "PLATINUM" unfortunately 👎
You can modify these vehicles very easily. It doesn't take much to really make this thing move! With a simple Chip reflash, intake (don't take out the stock airbox just replace the tube and put in a cone filter), and catback exhaust you'll go from 365hp to 470hp and we've verified it. The total cost of the mods was just $1800!!!
I know these are not off road crawlers, but are they soft off road capable? Specifically, can they be taken on beaches to go fishing, or drive on flat pasture lands slightly muddy? Is there some kind of AWD lock?
They are very capable.. I actually forgot to talk about the terrain management system in this review, I did though in the 2016 model of the same car I reviewed last year. It's a system that has a "sand mode" "mud/rut mode" and "snow/gravel/gras" mode. It's a rotary dial that sits right by the cup holders... It will adjust the intelligent 4WD (awd) system to what ever condition you are driving in.
Does the second roll seats roll back just like the front seats?I have driven one but found the second roll seats cant roll back, just wondering if i did it right.
I wish real people and not dealers would review these cars after driving them for at least 6 months. I happen to be an owner of 2016 Ford Explorer Limited and have some idea about the car. First of all: The front seats do suck, they are narrow and side bolster comes up too high digging into your leg making it completely uncomfortable and painful. And no, i'm not 6'6 320 lbs but an average Joe at 5' 11 and 190 lbs. The steering wheel leather is so cheap i had to replace mine as it was peeling like a banana. Some other trim material is cheap and it shows. Other than that its a OK vehicle that should be around $ 35K and not $ 50 shame on Ford for looking at their P&L vs making something worth the damn money.
So why don't you review your own car and let people know of your opinions and owner experience of the vehicle instead of bitching in the comment section of this review ?
I'm stuck between the ford explorer and the Honda pilot, I'm currently a odyssey owner with 4 children and i want to upgrade now that my kids are older. Any suggestions guys?

@AutoVlog Hi there i just want to ask the fuel consumption for the ford explorer 201 sport. How many km/l does the ford explorer 2017 sport.? Thank you
Personally, I think Ford should offer those factory wheels in gloss black. I am also not thrilled on the grill shell design & I like the 2014-15 grill better + it was easier to clean. Great looking SUV though.
I'm stuck between the ford explorer and the Honda pilot, I'm currently a odyssey owner with 4 children and i want to upgrade now that my kids are older. Any suggestions guys?

Heeeeey, mine is brown! And I'm not a cop, I'm with the fire department.
If it has those wheels it’s definitely not a cop

Sunnyyy the way you can tell whether it’s a cop is if the mufflers point downwards in the back. Another way is if there aren’t any LED running lights.
Here in AZ, they come in all colors, tinted windows, and "ghost" decals that can only be seen when you shine a light on them.
