Thanks for this video. It helped me with my birds nails. I’m still scared of cutting his nails but at least I got some of them cut. I’m going to try again tomorrow because he was screaming from just being held. I bought him pumice paper, sweet feet & beak bamboo perches and they didn’t help my bird much. Only his back nails were filed down from the pumice paper/perch.
Hey Chris, thanks so much for this video. I currently have a gouldian hen where I will need to trim her beak, and I do not feel confident doing this. I'm worried if I do it wrong and shatter her beak completly....can that happen? I mean, I'm very gentle in how I handle the birds if I need to handle them...but yeah, I do not want to hurt her, or possibly make it so she can't eat after. Of my gouldians, she is the one that is most welcoming towards me. She chirps and I answer her, or vice versa :) This is something I need to get over, but I guess the first time performing this task is a little nervewrecking for everyone. After all...they are tiny...12 grams, it's amazing that something so small can give so much joy and happiness, and the last thing I want is to do anything bad to those 12 grams
Hello birdnerd, I have two grown male zebra finches. yesterday, I went to my local petstore to get food for them and I noticed that they have zebra finches that are bigger in size, they were beautiful! Is it okay if they're mixed together?
Okay! Thank you so much for your response. I'll buy them and put their cage next to mine and release them together once they are used to their new environment and friends! Have a nice day! And stay safe!
Hey birdnerd, I have two canary birds and they both seem healthy but my female wont take a bath and I have tried everything for her to wash but she won’t, I have only had them for about 2 weeks so I was wondering what u think I should do
Hello, my canary hen pooped in her nest while she is making one as well, should i clean the nest? Also this is the second day the male and the hen are separated, should i remove the barrier tomorrow?
If your hen is building a nest then yes you should remove the barrier and let the male in with her. YOu can remove the poop if you want or you can leave it.
Hi bird nerd. While i wanted to apply scatt to my gouldin finch. What happened was i took the cap out and i set the opened bottle on top of the cage. Then i proceeded to catch the bird, while i was catching the bird. The bottle fell placing it everywhere and a little bit of it fell on my gouldin finch. I then watched it with water thoroughly. Are we good to go? i also cleaned the whole cage.
I would still apply a little to your bird. The scatt need to reach the skin of the bird to be effective. If it just landed on the feathers and you wash it off with water it won't work
Which/where is the follow-up video to this? Before/After is so heartening! I d love to see how much better these poor little guys are after being rehabbed so well🫶
Hey buddy, thanks for educational vid. do you treat your birds with anti-bacterial medicine in a regular basis or occasionally? If regularly, how often and how?Thank you in advance for advices.
I have't really treated the birds with any antibacterial medications. The only ones that i have used is Ronex to help with giardia, coci, and cankers soars. I only use that when I have a bird that is showing signs of sickness though.
What is the java birds, o do you mean the Bourgs ? I also got a gouldians whose geek was like the one you got and trimmed it, as it looked as if he could eat much. And a canary who has these calisters on the toes. And I trim that of as well. It actually is these growths next to the toe , that it looks like he has duck feet. So weird. I cut it once and it’s all white fleshy inside. No blood , so that is good. And it grew again so I cut it again, this time I nailed its toe, and gosh did it bleed a lot. One tip is to put fresh alo Vera jell from the life on and that stops blood emediatly. He is fine now and his feet looks good. Alo Vera is good for humans animals for any time of bleeding, it will stop blood and heal the wound.....
Why I am asking is I have a pair of Bourgs and thy very gentle and quiet birds, but I am wondering how do I know when and what I must look for , for them to breed, and thy hardly move around, so summer is coming up, and I want to know. The thing is I think mine is old. There noses are quite thick brownish. And I am wondering that thy sold me a old pair ...😪😪😭😤
@@izabeau1953 The bourkes are very gentile birds and very quiet also. I have a big cockatiel nest box in the aviary that the bourkes like to nest in. They don't show a lot of different signs for when they are going to breed. But what I noticed was the male would feed the female and she started going inside the nest box always until she disappeared because she was sitting on the eggs and wouldn't leave the nest.
birdnerd ...thank you for telling me, we going into spring soon, and I will watch for that , if I see him feeding her. Thy are very nice quiet gentle birds. No fuss...and I give mine carrots or lettuce , or chu Chou’ s grated , and also apple 🍎, but thy not interested in none of that. Thy also don’t bath so I was told to spray them with a bit of water ,...I did , thy just sat there ....lol so funny. In summer I will do it more often. Thy just might start opening there wings...to have a shower 🚿......👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻....um why do you call them Java birds...?
I trimmed my bird's beak but It grew back, also I have some bird's that have overgrown beaks after I introduced that bird. Why is that, and what should I do? (It's getting kinda scary) Nice, informative channel btw🙂
You may have to continue to trim your birds beaks when they grow back deformed. It may be due to bad genetics or poor nutrition and that’s why the birds beaks are Looking like that
Thank you! Now I have the confidence I need to trim my birds nails ☺️
Love your channel man!
You are awesome.
I will watch all your Vedios and keep supporting you

Yes that should be fine. once they establish a pecking order they should get a long fine. I would keep them all males so that they don't fight.
Okay!

I have zebra finches
Can you put the birds in the same room with your birds before they have been treated for mites?
How do you tell a male canary apart from a female
Males sing, and the females lay eggs. That's how for most canaries
Protozoan infections, giardia etc is diagnosed with professional services.....
Not focused, so was a little hard to see! Maybe using a light might show better.
A redo maybe!
Yeah it was poor quality I will get a better video out there for you guys.
