I was going through your videos and feel really disappointed this is your only canari video! 😅 I was just gifted a 5 year old canari tonight and although he was very well taken care of by his family, his nails are dangerously long. They are curved and get stuck in his cage's bars. Also, he cannot perch properly as his curved nails prevent his toes from touching the perches. I will replace his perches with natural branches and place a clean rough rock underneath his food bowl. I will trim his nails but I wanted to see how to hold him properly without hurting him. I never had to trim such a tiny bird's nails before. Only parrots and parakeets! I watched many videos about the subject and yours was the clearest. Your bird is really beautiful masha'Allah and I am sure I am not the only one who would love to see more of your birds! 🥰
Alikom AL Sallam and thanks for your comment. I'm happy you found the video useful. Long nails definitely bother the bird. for holding him, you just be gently and don't squeeze. Just enough for him not to fly away :) Mo more videos because I left home and this beautiful bird is with my sister and still alive and singing. if you have any questions down the road, let me know please. thanks once again.
if you can- keep some clear iodine then if the worst should happen and you catch the vein just dip the claw into the iodine this will help to stop the bleeding etc
my canary hates to be held or catch, i always tooked him to the vet to cut his nails. But i would like to di it by myself. Im not confortable at all to do it. But i will have to do it or at least try ^^
I admire your calmness, I am always afraid that their little hearts will just stop beating out of stress.
