There's another fan video which is much better in my opinion. The basis for this Rammstein song is the poem "Erlkönig" (Elf-King) by Johann Wolfgang Goethe

The end of the video is a little misleading in that it shows the plane crashing when the song never suggests that is the case. Dalai Lama was inspired by the poem " der Erlkonig " by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe where in an attempt to protect and save his son from the " king of winds" a father unintentionally suffocates and kills his son. The poem and song both okay on the fragility of human life but specifically the fragility of the lives of children. The tragedy here is, of course, that the death is needless as the plane lands safely.

The lyrics draw a bizarre parallel between a spiritual leader advocating inner peace and a panicked airplane situation - a contradiction only Rammstein could pull off. The »Dalai Lama« is known for his calm and peace but in Rammstein’s version, death becomes the unstoppable passenger - definitely not a meditative flight! The »Dalai Lama« may teach us to overcome our fears but when Rammstein sings »Please fasten your oxygen masks« you'd better buckle up real fast ...

So here is my interpretation: The Lord of Heaven wants only the child soul. So, he doesn’t need to crash whole plain. Only thing what he needs to do is to shake the plain and scares the father so much that he accidentally kills his child.
There is also the genius twist behind it. You may thing the plain will crash, but no…. Only one thing is important and that is the child soul.
