oh Source2 is still based on Cubemapping for reflections, except and this is the MAIN difference with the previous engine, they are parallax corrected. so it kind of gives the illusion of a real reflection.... and to be honest (me that I work with S1 mapping) I think for a competitive game like CS2 is better to keep it that way, they are cheap simple and not like everyone is going to stare at them for too long. But I think real shadows should be possible and up to the mappers choice of how they want to make their level.

Results at 4:10 make a lot of sense. It means there are more game assets and the assets have more information about them so the extra cache helps with the Vcache parts, although you don't know about the 7800X3D if it will benefit simply because Zen 4 has more L2 than Zen 3 so you already have a boost to the caching system. It also means by looking at the 7700X that the game is more demanding, and it should be once again because there are more game assets and there's more information about each asset. And yes it looks a lot better.
@@AncientGameplays Yes, but in older games it runs about the same as the other Zen 4 parts. We'll know when we see benchmarks or you bench it with the 7800X3D. The 5800X3D vs. the 5800X is not the same as the 7800X3D vs. the 7700X. Variations in performance are different. Absolutely, the 7800X3D is the best gaming CPU to date for sure. I wouldn't buy it because I don't like Zen4/AM5. I'll wait for AM5 to become more mature and AMD can get some of their issues worked out with their CPUs. Memory speeds are lacking, and the CPU-chipset link is still 8GB/s and I just don't know why I would upgrade from a 5800X3D/X570S when my MB has excellent features including USB3.2 gen2x2 and 3 NVMe ports which allows me to run dual OS AND have 2 NVMe drives for Window where I got a pretty good library of games. And AM4 was running a CPU-chipset link at 8GB/s with Zen 2 and X570. It also seems strange to me that AMD has to run 2 X670 chipsets to have the feature set for X670E when Intel can do that with one chipset. And to make it worse one chipset has to daisychain through another chipset for devices off that chipset have added latency. No thanks. But I just have to wait and see. I want my next system to be a LARGE step up from what I have and if AMD doesn't get there, Intel probably will with Arrow Lake whenever that comes out, but I would still skip that and wait for 15th or 16th gen. Either that or Zen 6 if AMD makes a LOT of improvement to their architecture and that may mean changing the interconnect to something else. That could be why they could only push 8GB/s with the CPU-chipset link and memory speeds are slower than what they should be at this point, AND have to use 2 X670 chipsets. Intel is pumping 16GB/s to its Z790 chipset. But THAT architecture has problems too especially being on Intel 7 and having to push clocks so high that 13th gen uses too much power. I'm waiting for the revolutionary changes before I upgrade, such as AI and accelerators in the CPU, big-little in AMD CPUs, etc...., and it will be neat to see what Intel does with its tiled CPUs and being able to use die from different companies to put together a modular CPU. Forgot to say, EXCELLENT video!
After I got my 7900 XTX, you recommended me to switch to a 5800X3D from my 3900X. I was already considering that one and also wanted to upgrade to AM5 altogether. But the second option was not going to be cheap at all. So, I eventually got myself a 5800X3D and boy, oh boy, was it worth it. I would never guess that 3900X was such a bottleneck. It was not inadequate, but it gave me enough trouble with % lows that I could never get a truly fluid experience in any game. But the 5800X3D chonker has done it right for me. Thanks a ton for the recommendation. Much appreciated as always.
Hey there! It's been a while since I last watched one of your videos! I find myself visiting your channel from time to time, and I wanted to express my appreciation by subscribing. Your content has been incredibly helpful to me over the years! :) The first video I ever watched from you was an explanation on how to tinker with the BIOS on a B350F ROG Strix back in 2016. It's impressive to see how much your English has improved since then, as well as your beard! I want to thank you for the video, as I'm currently upgrading from a 3800X to a 5800X. Since I primarily play CS:GO, I was almost set on buying the 5800X. However, I started to wonder if the new Source Engine would fully utilize newer CPUs. That's when I stumbled upon your video! 😍 Thanks again, mate! I wish you continued success!
Thank you so much for the video! I am trying to decide on 7700X vs 7800X3D and I mostly play CS, this is the only video I could find so far analyzing X3D performance in CS2. Seems like CS2 utilizes the cache way better than GO. If you have the chance to also benchmark 7800X3D in the future, that would be grand!
I think something may be wrong with my cpu setup. 3070ti 7700x.. 5.2 ish ghz no steady 360fps on high settings. It’s somewhat setting but it dips around
Looking to upgrade my pc and had decided to go with ryzen 9 5900x for csgo before watching this video. What would be a better choice for about $350? Thanks!
Any chance you'll do cs2 benchmarks on different gpus? I've been waiting to upgrade my gpu until I know what kind of performance tier I need to go for in cs 2, and I haven't found any good benchmarks yet.
Seems like everyone is testing 8GB cards and its lack of VRAM is showing in recent games. The 3060ti/3070(ti)s are suffering hard even without RT and even more with RT ON. Do you have any 8GB nVidia cards to test?
I tested my old rtx 3070 and pushed everything to max in cs2 1440p and got 7.9gb usage, now on rx 6950xt and have 9gb vram usage. 8gb vram is dead zone.
why does minimum FPS go UP going from 1080p to 1440p on the 5800x3d? seems like the avg frame rate drops a little but somehow the min fps goes up. whats the reason behind this?
What percent usage was your gpu at ? Do you think anti lag enabled will help with lower input lags, Better latency ? I believe nvidea reflex is supported with cs2 if so would be nice if the amd side of things gives it a good shot at keeping up with team green
reflex and antilag are driver toggles, you don't need them in the game to make use of them (or better, you need reflex if you want frame generation, since nvidia dictated that, but you can enable that by default in the drivers if you wish)
Please test some more maps and more CPUs, all of the major maps are in the beta now. You're one of the only youtubers who can benchmark and has access to the game and hardware. Players need a video explaining what cpu they need for 144hz 244hz and so on. It would be amazing if you could test all maps with a range of cpus whole ryzen series if possible or (ryzen 5 of each gen). Lots of people are still on 1600af and older i5s and want to know what cpu they need for their refresh rate. I personnally would like to know the performance jump from 3700x to 5800x3d. I believe that inferno is the map that runs the worst (highly cpu bound) so that map would be one of the better ones to test on. Great video by the way!
I bought my 5800X3D knowing this based of off it's performance in Dota2, which is running on the Source 2 engine. I have an 5800X3D, DDR4 4000 cl14 mem and an 3060 Ti I think I'm not going to have to update anything at all for this game. Also did you benchmark it with undervolt or stock ? Try doing a benchmark with -30 mv on all cores.
Finally a decent benchmark on this game. Very interesting. It went from frequency dependent to cache dependent which is better with current cpu design trends. But I have questions: 1. Did you test with bots on? If so, is the fps any different from testing on an empty local server? 2. Is gpu usage up with source 2? This is important for people with low end graphics cards like me (1650 😢). Not so much on mid and high end since those gpus are already at 50-60% usage on csgo and if the game got more gpu demanding, only your usage % will rise without fps drop.
Hey man, thanks! 1. I did test with bots in order to make it the most "repetitive" I could so that the FPS wouldn't be all over the place 2. The GPU usage is higher as the game is graphically heavier, but it all comes to your setup/PC
For cs2 you would like to have high fps as possible and not run anything below medium becuze of shadows in game advance, 3060ti week I sold my rtx 3070 becuze it could not handle cs2 properly, then upgrade my 5600x to 5800X3D

I have ryzen 2600 and rx580 8gb gpu.. I am thinking about upgrade my cpu to 5800x3d. Is it worth it, it will give me gains at performance for cs2 or the gpu will hold me back??
Worth it? absolutely, even a 5600X would be MUCH faster... still, your GPU would be the handicap. You might consider getting something like a 6750XT, which is MUCH, but MUCH faster than that 580
Hi, any chance you'll update the test with current day cs2 version and possibly using a couple of Intel cpus? Performance in beta was awful at times (even though I consider dd2 to be probably lower tier of demanding maps) so revisitting the case should be fun! Still think 7600x/used 5800x3d would be price/performance king but I might be wrong ;)
Hello dear Ancient, Ive got 4070ti and 5700x but the fps is max 300-350 and generally 250. I had 3060ti previously and nearly similar results. Do I need a better cpu or gpu for constant 400fps?
Question: Do you think it would be worth changing the CPU from a Ryzen 7 3800xt to a Ryzen 5 5600x, especially for CS2, with an RTX 3080ti 12GB. thank you
I had r5-5600x overclocked to 4.9Ghz all cores for csgo and moved to 5800X3D got less fps bit in cs2 5800X3D I gain much more fps and would not recommend 5600x. For cs2 5800X3D way to go.
Hey! I just got a new RX 7800XT, but I still have ryzen 5 3600. The fps are very bad (~150-220), yet any of the cpu cores is not maxing out. Do you think I would fix the issue with the new CPU? I didn't notice any upgrade in fps (in cs2) coming from gtx 1060. Thanks in advance
definitely. switched from r5 3600 to r7 5800x3d and i can keep stable 225FPS everywhere. gained more than ~300 extra FPS compare to r5 3600 when unlocked FPS

I have 7800x3d but i upgraded from ryzen5600 and skipped 5800x3d with no remorse, while i am using 7900xtx at 1440p ultrawide, which is very specific scenario. So wait for next gen or find some very good ressel opportunity for your 7900x, if you can handle it.
heeeyy, i'm upgrading my pc for cs2, i'll only play in competitive settings, and i have two options in mind to do that. The first is: buy a 5800x3d and a 3060 ti. The second option is: buy a 7800x3d and a 3060 12gb with ddr5 ram memory, thinking about not needing to change cpu for a long time so I can give another gpu upgrade in the distant future if its necessary. Which option do you think will perform best in cs2? Can the 7800x3d be used with the 3060 12gb in this case?
Hey, this was a helpful video, thank you. I have a 5800X3D and 16GB 3200MHz CL14 RAM. After watching your video, I think I will buy a 1440p 280Hz monitor and a 7900 XTX for CS2. I'm wondering, since you said the game is still CPU a bit bottlenecked even at 1440p max settings - do you think the 7900 XTX is a good buy or can I save some money with something more midrange like the new 7800 XT? They are like €1000 and €500 where I live, respectively.
I was thinking about rtx 4070 and 7800xt and 6950xt, I do not care about features and ray tracing, rx 6950xt cost same as 4070 and 7800xt cost 50€ less, I end up with 6950xt. 6950xt clocked right now 2500Mhz-2690Mhz at 1102mV with +20% power target with r7-5800x3d 102BLCK overclock and -30 all cores negative curve with 10x scale (PBO) using ddr4-3200Mhz 16-18-18-18-36cl goes 3270Mhz 16-17-17-17-34cl right now. Playing cs at 2560x1440p medium/high every map +500fps and water places 300fps avg.
Would recommend rx 7900xt or even xtx, 23.11.1 diver works best in cs2, make sure you have last chipset driver and bios for your 5800X3D. And do not forget to turn on SAM feature from bios. I have 240Hz screen.
hello mate another question for you ; ). Is it better for me to get 7 7800X3D and rtx 3070 for csgo when we know it's a cpu sided game or 7 7700X and rtx 3080 ? willl the 7 7800X3D bottleneck 3070
Hey! Thanks for great videos. I happen to also have a brother who found that version of CS2. I have now R5 3600 and 1080ti. I play cs2 1440p 165hz and I buyed yesterday RX 6750 XT OC what i dont get yet. Which one cpu i have to upgrade? Maby R7 5800X3D or R7 5800X?

I'm waiting for the revolutionary changes before I upgrade, such as AI and accelerators in the CPU, big-little in AMD CPUs, etc...., and it will be neat to see what Intel does with its tiled CPUs and being able to use die from different companies to put together a modular CPU.

The first video I ever watched from you was an explanation on how to tinker with the BIOS on a B350F ROG Strix back in 2016.

why does minimum FPS go UP going from 1080p to 1440p on the 5800x3d? seems like the avg frame rate drops a little but somehow the min fps goes up. whats the reason behind this?
Its a gameplay, so has margin of error, even more on 1% lows
What percent usage was your gpu at ? Do you think anti lag enabled will help with lower input lags, Better latency ? I believe nvidea reflex is supported with cs2 if so would be nice if the amd side of things gives it a good shot at keeping up with team green
Max settings was at 100% most times on CS2
reflex and antilag are driver toggles, you don't need them in the game to make use of them (or better, you need reflex if you want frame generation, since nvidia dictated that, but you can enable that by default in the drivers if you wish)

@@AncientGameplays Was lying, just upgraded my 3060 Ti to a 4080 ;)
Finally a decent benchmark on this game. Very interesting. It went from frequency dependent to cache dependent which is better with current cpu design trends. But I have questions:
1. I did test with bots in order to make it the most "repetitive" I could so that the FPS wouldn't be all over the place
2. The GPU usage is higher as the game is graphically heavier, but it all comes to your setup/PC

Before relaunching the game i turned off the low latency mode "ultra" feature in my global 3D settings, it then worked fine for me.
Relaunched again with low latency ultra + disabled, enabled nvidia reflex /+ boost. No issues
Also i was kinda convinced that it's a AMD Cpu issue since i saw another user report issues with only having 50% gpu usage with his 5600xt and apperantly solved his issue by disabling the Re-size BAR option in BIOS.

@@AncientGameplays oh yeah I watched your 7900xtx benchmark and I was amazed by the performance increase with Sam I'm now even more of sure of getting the 7900xtx because the price difference of 7900xtx and 4080 in my region is 350 dollars
I hope you get amd CPU for that 7900xtx, becuze SAM will work beat amd + amd.
i will have half thousand of fucking frames per second in Counter Strike 2, well i didnt expected such result :D :D :D i hoped for 200.
As long as your GPU handles it, yeah
@@AncientGameplays Sadly my results will not get any better , that sinnester fact i myself aged like fine-beer at playing CS, compare to myself 18years ago.
hello bro i have been having problems with my amd rx 550 2gb for some time now when i play the screen goes black and then normal but the video card is no longer recognized by windows and amd tells me and enter safe mode and not work more like before do you have any advice or know how to help me!
i'm wondering how much better would be 7800x3d than 5800x3d in CS 2
considerably
Hey man thanks for the video. I have a small problem i do t know if you had it or heard about it. Everytime i start the game it stutters for the first couple minutes. Its like game is loading assets or something. After a couple of minutes it goes away. Occasionaly it comes back when i do stuff i didnt do in the previous match like spraying. But after doing them it runs smooth. If i close the game and come back no more stutters. But if i restart my computer and start the game again its back again. How do i like make the gpu remember it.
Thats normal, its shader cache loading
@@AncientGameplays is it normal that after i shut down the pc and come back i have to load the shaders again. Does it not save them or something.
@@xdxxd9496 not at all, shaders are usually only loaded again when you do a clean drivers install. You might a faster disk though
Bro, do you think ryzen 5 7600x will pass ryzen 7 5800x3d in cs2?
Will be more or less or par
ryzen 5 7600x is more affordable in my country, ryzen 7 5800x3d is more expensive which one do you think i should buy for c2@@AncientGameplays
MY OVERCLOCKED FX 6300 WILL TURN INTO A PARTICLES ACCELERATOR WITH THIS ONE 🥵🥵🥵💫💫💫
XD
So happy my 5800x3d will actually give me a boost in CS2!
As long as your GPU holds it
Nice. I'm actually curious about a side-by-side of the two games themselves now.
Sup bro so
Recently upgraded to a 6800xt i used ddu to delete old drivers installed the amd 6800 drivers but my adrenaline software keeps crashing and takes long to load
Sometimes it messes my windows taskbar
How do i fix it bro
That may be your windows being messed up as well..advise updating chipset drivers ans bios on the motherboard. If it doesn't fix it try reinstalling windows. If still happening, tou have isssues with your gpu or psu
@@AncientGameplays ill try reseting windows also i play games pretty fine
Bro no crashing while play games
Only the software
It works but takes long to load and sometimes says not responding
@@AncientGameplays played mafia definitive and resident evil village played and warzone no crashing
@@ferozslimshady758 humm, then I really advise updating windows, bios and chipset drivers
Try an older driver version as well like 23.2.2
Hey how about the vram usage in cs2 is 8gb ddr6 enough?
Of course it is
SO ITS BETTER TO BUY A PROCESSOR THEN A VIDEO CARD?? FOR CS2??
that's not the point of the video... CS.GO was usually more CPU dependent. This new game engine is heavier on the GPU as well, but at the same time, takes better advantage of the CPU
Can RAM run at its rated frequency on the AM5 platform if it is not AMD Expo certified?
Ofc it can, you just may need to tweak a bit
The Ca in Cache is pronounced like ca in cash 💸. Thanks for the video.
Not for me haha
I bought a ryzen 7 7800x3d will the cs2 have its extra cache used?
because in cs:go it is blocked
Haven't you watched the video?
How can I upgrade from radeon Pro to adrenaline without getting a blue screen? Please help!
Have tried EVERYTHING
dude, clean install...ruclips.net/video/1XlwirtWs_c/видео.html
Wish a notification popped up😭 1660 arrives tomorrow to replace overvolted RX580 and new cpu 3600 ryzen 5 (i have 2600) do i still do “clean and shutdown” on ddu even though i’m installing new cpu
@@xoluvsu do it. Do ddu to tske off the 580
@@AncientGameplays Really appreciate it man! don’t know why i expected you not to respond Wmans
while playing cs 2 can u try also 7800x3d. thanks
Im just curious if im still going to be able to run cs2 at 300fps with i7-12700f and rx6600, i play with 240hz monitor so i got used to it.
But i also have a r7 5800X that i dont use, would that be better 🤷♂️
Maybe, your gpu may suffer a bit. And no, your 12700f is better generally
@@AncientGameplays yeah maybe ill just play 165H monitor and it should be alright
I have a 3950x paired with a 4090…..playing on 1440p and managing to only get 120-150 FPS with -threads 9 in launch options….i also stream on the same PC……I’m debating getting the 5800x3d to increase FPS since streaming is NVENC/GPU side
Simply get a 5800x3d, will be a MASSIVE performance difference there. You can also get a 5700x3d
@@AncientGameplays I’ve learned through research that CS likes less cores. Hopefully it solves my issue.
@@AncientGameplays installed the 5800x3d and holy crap….did a quick death match without streaming my lows was about 250fps and was avging around 350-400 fps
I just bought a fkn 7700x... I was waiting for 7950x3d and when I saw that x3d performs worse on GO i took the X. Now x3d perfom better cs2.. What to do now?
Nothing, you still have a great cpu don't worry. You have the 7800x3d as well
can you do a video tutorial how to fix anti allising on all games plasse
What do you mean?
CS2 Gonna need an AI AntiCheat
Maybe, maybe not
What's the cheapest CPU CPU combo running csgo on a 360hz 1080p monitor, that I'll run on 4:3 stretched low settings, open to used parts
Humm, maybe the 5800x3d with a 6700xt
@timtresch4848 did you already bought something ?
I bought a 340 hz monitor and now i have to find out what gpu and cpu i need
