HI, it feels good to be back after a p long break (ill be more consistent from now on)😋 Thank you for watching my LONGEST VIDEO YET. I love comment section banter so if you're reading this, leave a comment or reply to someone else! LIKE>SHARE>SUBSCRIBE🖤
hey mamatha, i totally agree with your opinion, i have been to more than 10 muns and when i compare my first experience to the latest one, toxicity just increases. MUNs are not a symbol of DIPLOMACY any more but a POWER PLAY of extroverts. one guy literally asked me contribution of russian escorts when i was representing USSR
The only reason the MUNS are the way they are is because the school don’t take much initiative to make sure that each student has a fair chance to participate in the event. This alters the entire experience of a proper MUN session rip
I partially agree with your pov. I have always despised motion to entertain but fortunately I have had some of the best chair in my school muns and our school overall hosted muns in a very good way and it being limited gave opportunity to almost every delegate to speak. In the end it matters what kind of chairs you get and if they really want to impart the right knowledge.
First of all, I'm so glad I found this video. Secondly, I totally agree with most of what you're saying. Especially the part of anonymous chits, that creeped me out as well. The whole idea that some 18 year old dude could be hitting on a 13 year old girl is just absurd. I went to my first MUN conference a month ago and it was horrid. The chairs were disorganized and I just did not enjoy it at all. The whole idea of MUN in hindsight is actually quite simple, yet I did not see it until you mentioned. The "Power Play" role you talked about couldn't be any more true. The conference I was in, all the winners were those who had been keeping relations with chairs, other committees and etc. So yeah it's basically a brawl of extroverts trying to be the most extroverted in a group of extroverts. For some of us introverts, what we were told was a place to improve our public speaking turned out to be just one speech until you realize that everyone will bombard you with questions to embarass you down, elimating the competition one by one.
you can keep your point but i may not agree with u last year i participated in mun it really contributed in my confidence building and personality development it won’t be wrong it has completely changed me ..looking forward for another one this year 🎉
That’s great!! In no way am I denying the benefits of MUN, it can do wonders for students. My video was just to highlight some downsides that I’ve noticed. I was once an avid MUNer too, wishing you SO MUCH SUCCESS💫
Really reflective. As a MUN enjoyer, this video inspired me in thinking in another perspective. In the end, not everyone would like the formality of the MUN but these criticism has a huge value for me, especially for the gossip box part, that was me, hahahha.
Coming from someone who founded and ran the dominant MUN club in my circuit for the last 3 years, you’re right, it’s a pointless profession. I’d rather get into racing instead but maybe that’s because I’m a generational talent.
Your video quality is surprisingly good for the amount of subs you have. Loved the way you narrated (great voice too) and presented your video. Cheers! (BTW i got this in my feed randomly so RUclips algorithm might be blessing you, so congrats!)
WOW, thank you so much!! This means a lot, RUclips did decide to bless me. Please share my channel with people who might enjoy this content, thanks again for your support!!💕💕
Im a pg college student and only recently got in Mun. After agtending 1 mun i found the 5-6 hours time span a waste of time as i could study and do more important stuff
If you are wanting to join a MUN don't let any one stop you with their talks about their bad experiences and how they get embarrassed it's mostly their faults.
I had known about MUN due to my former classmate promoting it in her insta stories. I had no bloody idea what it was and whether i might be missing out on something. But you actually gave a coherent review on what ACTUALLY happens and put up some logical points. MUN is basically just another poster example of 'expectations vs reality' contrast.
I thought MUN was something students do which provides relevance during college admissions of their choice or something. I thought this was some serious thing like real serious , so my friends brother is a dork i believe doing this he was so committed to this i had to research 😂
It can help demonstrate your interest in global affairs, public speaking, debate, etc, but winning Best Delegate while being an absolute nightmare to other people WILL NOT make you a better applicant than just a participant😭😅
@@MamathaShastri544 participation is more important than winning i believe, atleast students are trying to upskill themselves one way or another. I have bag full of regrets not doing activities when i had right time and age. But it is what it is 😬.
@@shantanupawar3609you’re right! However, there is no “right” age for activities- I’d love to see you take up a new course on coursera or engage in community activities in your city! My mom, at 44, has begun to re-engage in her favourite childhood activities!
Yeah, the last conference I did was all about shouting lmao. I was Iran trying to talk to Turkey privately but suddenly his bloc came outta nowhere and basically just shouted towards him while me and Egypt couldn't get a word in. Litteraly, every time I spoke my voice gets overwhelmed by like 10 other people. So then we had a deal to leave Turkey alone for him to think for 5 minutes. Aaaand then they drag him out of the room to talk privately not even 10 seconds later, of course me and Egypt protested but they just say something like, "He's part of our bloc so fk u," I'm still pissed off at that lmao.
Does this model UN thing even exist in Serbian schools? I never even knew this was a thing lol. Just watched out of curiosity after being on State of the world channel
You need to enter your referee/s contact details. Ucas will email them asking for your predicted grades and letter/s of recommendation. Your referee should be an academic teacher you’ve had in 11th/12th.
If you already have your grades , enter them in the education section. For most courses, one LOR is enough but mine required 2 LORs. Please research about this on your University websites
I think model UN are more about how you talk for the agenda for and against based on the country u are.I understand that it has become quite diff these days. But the concept is to improve your debating skills and to see how countries "can" behave in a sensitive situation.
You’re right! That’s exactly the point of MUNing, however, I quit because I felt like a lot of conferences arent conducive to you having a true MUN experience

Great video, sheds light on a lot of matters that go unchecked in an MUN

SAME!!
Hey Mamatha, could you share what conferences you attended? Just curious
MUNs organised by high-schools and junior colleges in Bangalore, India
the IP and Motion to entertain part was true as heck tho
i watch ur videos while cooking because it feels like i’m listening to my favorite podcast
Blushing rn😳

Watched this as the del of china during my unmod😭😭
ICONIC
Idk I had a totaly different experience with MUNs and it was awesome
That’s really good :)

@@SdjxjSdnxn yah like there wasnt any screaming or sexual/degrading chits in the MUNs that i have participated.
Good for you guys!! Unfortunately I’ve only had questionable experiences
100% agree.

you do realise that the chits are supposed to get vetted by the chairs right
That’s only when the chit says ‘via EB’. Which MUN conference has the EB vetting each chit between delegates? I need to know😅💀

Ok but isnt this just having a bad chair?
not all of it, most of my issues with MUN are around its elitist culture + structure of debate
