    Most of your issues are not even a issue. They are user defaults and mostly will be changed once you get the phone.
    It is allmost like lot of people complaining about s23's sim card tray hole was right next to the microphone hole. Most users do this once every few months or maximum once every year lol
    So, finally after watching all the long term reviews I decided to buy s23 ultra, making this move from s20 so hopefully a decent upgrade also at a 30% off price than the launch. Thank you.

    You should definitely include camera performance in social media apps like Snapchat and instagram and also video call quality in these apps too
    Pixel 6 and later uses real time processing and if the phone is hot the quality is degraded, so would love a similar test for these phones which supports Camera 2 extension library

    If only Google didn't mess things up on the performance department, I would have still blindly went for pixel but because of only this single issue, I went with S23 Ultra. If Samsung can bring all the software goodness that Google provides with their smartphone then it will be hands down the true king of Android smartphone

    Great review and I do agree with many points you've mentioned but highly disagree with your takes on software and resale value.
    You're judging 1UI 6 beta 1 against stock Android beta 5 which is much closer to stable release. There are bound to be bugs and major changes/overhauls during the testing phase. How is that even fair? You should've compared stable release firmware between the two since most users will not be daily driving beta releases. Also, one of the bugs you've mentioned about the settings button being too close to the QS toggles doesn't exist in stable 5.1, if you even bother to check.
    Duplicate apps are a problem derived from Google in case you didn't notice. It is a prerequisite for all Android phones to ship preinstalled with some of Google's own software apps. You buy a Samsung phone but don't expect Samsung's own software apps prebaked is like saying pixels shouldn't have Google's own apps preinstalled out of the box. The only downside you failed to mention is that there should've been an easy way for the user to uninstall preloaded "bloat" apps within the OS.
    Missing features from the pixels you prefer that are missing from the S23U are a you problem. Every OEM ships different software features in their own OS skins. There are bound to be pros and cons to everything as you've mentioned.
    Finally, resale value is not a sole Samsung issue but an Android problem as a whole. Android phones just don't hold value all that well compared to iPhones which has been a fact for many years now. To be fair, Samsung phones depreciate the slowest compared to many other Android OEM devices in the market but it's still inevitable to drop months after launch. Which other Android flagship holds value far better than Samsung flagships?
    If you're approaching the review with a preconceived notion that stock Android software is better or highly preferred then you're never going to be fair in doing reviews with personal biases. I suggest you keep an open mind for any reviews you'll do in the future.

      With regard to resale values, Samsung devices crash and burn very quickly. Samsung knows this and is why they have good trade-ins. Imagine users just getting market value when trading an S22U to an S23U, they would literally be sick and become aware of the truth. In the UK the Fold 5 already has lost £700+ in a couple of weeks compared to list price!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
      As for software, having used both, the Pixel experience is more than just stock Android, it is about those features that push it way ahead of Samsung, from dictation, recorder, translation, to just much better AI and ML. It rises above Samsung phones, that just ply you with thousands of settings and features that mostly you will never use. But clever marketing and spec-chasing by Samsung pleases its fans and they know what the youth demographic want.
      Once you add in the cost, e.g. in the UK the Pixel 7P was £850 versus the S23U at £1400 for the same 12GB versions, you realise that the Pixel may not be superior in most regards, but bang for buck it is great. As you say, both fall in price rapidly so those list prices can easily be reduced; the Pixel by half now as it ends its life cycle.
      I agree with the reviews points but understand that Samsung fans love Samsung and will see it different.

    • @IDTR
      @IDTR  11 месяцев назад +8

      For the point about the software all the drawbacks I mention exist in the stable version, look at the notification settings and clear buttons, look at your apps shortcuts if you own a Samsung phone and you will see the same, also the software updates issue is Samsung's issue (they are slow), the smart features quality is not great and I have evidence from my previous videos when I was using the stable version, Samsung's want to clone everything for some reason.
      For Google's forcing OEMs to put their apps that makes sense because it's their software if Samsung prefer to make thier own apps they should make their own software in the first place to be in control or else stick to Google apps and save the hassle for themselves and the users.
      The resale value is an Android problem that's true but this doesn't mean its not Samsung' problem too and as far as this review is dedicated to the S23U so am noting it.
      I used this phone side-by-side with my Pixel 7 Pro what I liked here, I mentioned and what I liked on the 7 Pro side I also mentioned

    • @Weaselszone
      @Weaselszone 11 месяцев назад +4

      @@IDTRMost, if not all, software gripes that you have can easily be fixed through settings or through Goodlock (which you have already talked about, however didn't in this video for some reason). It would have made more sense to test it using Android 13 stable versions instead of beta, regardless of if something is still a problem in the stable version. Using two different betas, and actually using betas would mean guaranteed different experiences than on the normal, stable Android 13/OneUI 5.1 versions.
      You mentions the cons of the 23U to the Pixel, however no cons of the Pixel to the 23U. If you did, please say, however, that's rather ridiculous. This video did start to steam more of a battery on the 23U than much else. Although I do appreciate your problems, one would say, you get used to it after a while. Hence why Galaxy users are used to volume keys, boxy design, etc and don't really complain.
      If I was just a usual person coming here for a comparison, I would get the impression the 23U is crap while the 7 pro is heaven. However, we both know that's not true. They are both phones with different purposes, uses, prices and intended userbases. I emphasise on the prices. It feels a bit weird to be comparing two phones that are that different in prices. Especially since you wouldn't really be looking at a 23U if you were looking at a 7 pro. I get that it's just a what if scenario.
      Overall, I like your videos, however, this seems more like a "Coming from Pixel 7 Pro to 23U long term comparison (rant edition)" video rather than your usual.

  • @craz7644
    @craz7644 11 месяцев назад +6

    Honestly idk why people complain about a company releasing their software update, if google releases is it then yeah great..just like that treat other OEMs too..they are using the base model of Android 14 but they need to make changes to their smartphone and u will get it it when they release it.. people are excited about getting Android 14 on pixels but people are excited about getting one ui 6 on their galaxy phones, it's not the same.
    And not liking a particular feature which other phone has and other doesn't, really doesn't make sense, cuz that other phone don't have the features this phones cuz it's a diff phone.
    Galaxy store is there for a reason, they don't need to get approved from Google before sending an update they can just send it via their galaxy store and there are some apps which u only get through galaxy store cuz it's a galaxy phone, it's just make sense.
    About default apps, it's the same cuz it's a Samsung phone and the default will be Samsung apps,idk how hard is it to understand.

    • @downundajoe
      @downundajoe 11 месяцев назад +5

      I 100% agree with you, your buying a Samsung phone not Google, of course there apps are going to be default to Samsung.
      Also how he goes on about the OS update, he tried to install a beta of course its going to be different to pixel as that is a Google phone, ONE UI has so many more features than the stock android OS, his point is totally moot.
      Also lol about the scratches on the screen, if your buying an expensive phone, you always put on a glass screen protector, I use the whitestone as mentioned in the video, they are easy to put on.
      Coming from a S23 Ultra user, so of his dislikes are just stupid.

    Over the usage of S23 ultra for me. I noticed. That when it comes to photo and video mode given as default settings by manufacturer. It's too much of processing done after you shoot the video or photo. So compared to other Flagship it loses the round.. but! I found a better option in the device itself. And that it Pro photo / Video mode given in device. Using just auto mode in that settings boosts the Qualities of content. Way better than IPhone and Other Flagship. I would recommend to try this who uses S23 ultra and you wouldn't be Disappointed by this.

  • @panathatube

    Not a balanced review in my opinion. Which Android flagship device keeps its value even if someone indeed wants to sell his phone after six months? Is that Samsung's fault and what should they do about it? In terms of camera quality other than the noise everything is subjective but if I'm not mistaken i haven't heard a word about telescope zoom one of the phone's greatest strengths. As for the software there's great emphasis to what the stock Android does best and as for what One UI does best we have merely three seconds of "feature rich" and that's pretty much it. But many people love One UI exactly because of that "feature richness". I wouldn't expect mentioning Good Lock... And what about the S Pen? There's a mention about non symmetrical bezels but the S Pen must be the reason. No other device has an S Pen and for some people that's the reason to buy the phone. I'm quite old and my memory doesn't serve me well... did he even mention it?

    Great info about the S23 Ultra.
    I love my S22 Ultra. I do the same by activating Airplane mode when hitting the settings button.
    I need to move that. lol
    I don't games or anything with my phones. I just watch RUclips, music, etc.
    Coming from the iPhone 8+ & then the Note 10+.
    Wow! What a difference outdoors!
    Seeing an HDR Movie in sunlight! Love it!
    Not a single micro scratch on it. However, I've always kept it in a case & I rotate a TPU Screen Protector every 2-3 months since it's release date.
    I'm still learning everything the S22 Ultra has to offer me every day in Sept 2023. These phones can do so much & from what I've seen. Samsung is starting to retain its value better. (Amazon)
    It still has all day battery life, actually mine has never gotten below 50%, etc.
    I've had it out fishing all day connected to my Watch Pro 5 & a Bluetooth speaker playing music all day on the water here in SE Texas.
    I almost got the 23 Ultra but it was basically the same as the 22.
    It's just a great phone.
    It feels tiny in my hand compared to the Plus iPhone sizes, those are wide in the hand. I'm waiting to see if the S24 Ultra is going to have a flat screen & the Snapdragon 8 gen3 here in the States.
    If so, I'll update. If not?
    There's no need for me to update this phone for another 2 to 4 more years.

    Hi. I disagree with your point that you didn't like the OneUI experience. It's best imo.
    1. To drag and drop. Hold the app and then push to the upper edge and you will be directed to the home screen and put anywhere you want.
    2. You can change how many quick settings you want in the notification panel. Also can use a good lock module to theme the panel and everything.
    3. You don't get many suggestions if you use the keyboard less. There is a feature where you get the clipboard items on top of the keyboard. In addition, you can view multiple clipboarded items if you want.
    Other than that I accept the software upgrade part and photo editing are not so good.

    I totally disagree about the software! Security updates come out super fast, even faster than the pixel phones some times... Also the customization and options the ui has on pixels is a joke compared to Samsung's one UI... I'm writing this on a pixel phone and I'm really missing one ui...

    Premium Samsung phones came standard with a factory screen saver. Not sure if this model does but it might. If that is the case your screen may be fine you just might need a new screen saver installed. I know the factory screen savers used to be almost impossible to see with the naked eye. So you might not have any scratches in your screen.

      This year alone I've had the S23U Pixel 7 Pro and OP11. I decided to give the NP2 a go. Nothing OS is phenomenal and extremely well optimised HOWEVER the camera is very erratic and the speakers are average. Stick with the Pixel or go with the OP11 as both are great devices and relatively bloat free. The S23U has so many duplicate apps and personally I'm not too keen on OneUI but that is subjective. The S23U is an ergonomic nightmare too.

I have mostly used Samsung Galaxy phones in the past and about 6 months ago changed to the Google Pixel, after watching many reviews. I HATE the Pixel with a passion. I have never wanted to change a phone so quickly in my life. If not for the price I paid for it I would have changed straight back. My son is gifting me another Galaxy for Xmas. I can't wait.

    You complain too much and you seem to really prefer the pixel. While OneUI has too many features, most are so useful that once you get used to them you'll have a hard time using the barebones pixel UI, where you have to download an extra app to obtain certain features. Plus the s23's hardware and battery life are far superior to the pixel 7 pro's

      Hey mate
      Get a S23 Ultra it's a beast, also get a glass screen protector, the whitestone one he mentioned I have on mine, they are the best and easy to install.
      Performance, battery life and camera are amazing!
      Some of his dislikes are stupid, as you are buying a Samsung phone not a Google hence why Samsung apps are default.
      Also he goes on about the updates, ofcourse they are going to be delayed on the S23, as ONE UI, has so many more features than the pixel.
      The S23 Ultra is the best Android phone at the moment but this is just my opinion.
      It will be different from your iPhone as they are so many more customisations compared to a row of icons on the iPhone.

But looking at this video I confirm that I just can't like the one graphic and practical side; In addition, the features of pixels such as now playing, the transcription of Google Assistant and multitasking. They definitely are a game changer for me. The bloatware problem can be solved and that is not the main problem. If it weren't for this I would already have S23U for sure.
