They always struggle to beat good teams. It’s easy to say we win with game with a striker but the biggest issue is the fact that spurs seem to have all the chances but the first chance the opposition gets they always seem to concede. Is it that every team turns into the most clinical team against them?.. or is there a problem with the way they’re setting up the defense?

Considering how much turnover Spurs have experienced over the last 12months and the amount of young players that are being introduced to the squad/ team, it should tell you this is NOT a short-term thing.
Spurs are in the best place we've been in for a long time.. with a club and coaching team that both appear fully aligned, both in strategy and identity, with an extremely talented group of players who want to help the club develop. Progress is a process # COYS

We didn't get the result we deserved but that is football - sometimes the better team doesn't
win the game. You need a bit of luck in most sports and yesterday we didn't get it, there is no
need to panic and overreact to an unfortunate result.

  • @thomashobbs1498

Basic principles of playing a high line-
    1) stay as high as possible while there is pressure on the ball.
    2) if a opposition player escapes the press, the defence must drop off together and quickly.
(Otherwise, with no pressure on the ball, it’s all too easy to play a ball in behind in acres of space)
    The goal was conceded because-
    A) the press failed
    B) the line didn’t drop quickly enough

    Some observations:
    1. Maddison is a problem because he thinks he is the best free kick/corner taker but in reality Son should be taking them.
    2. Romero is a problem. He is a fantastic CB for any team but his lack of pace means it isnt ideal for angeball. Everything else abt Romero is perfect for Ange.
    3. We need a back up for VDV, that is, a pacey CB. Highline means pace is important. Newcastles 2nd goal may have been prevented with a faster CB
    4. Kulu cant play on wing as he doesnt have the pace
    5. I dont understand why Ange doesnt have his mids/forwards/wingers rotate positions in game to give the opposition diff looks.
    6. Ange made his subs too late. Angeball requires fresh legs as the run up and down pitch so much as all players are 2 way players. Spurs were dominating but regardless he should have made changes earlier to keep legs fresh

It'll be great when we get the whole package. With kane, we played without the ball, sat deep, stole games. Without kane, we have all the ball, dominate, cant score. Im sure it'll work out, the football is getting better, though is a touch one dimensional in that, we get wide, cut back or cross.

I think an interesting one I hear few people talk about is Spurs not going back for Antonio Nusa. This falls into line with players who really want to choose Spurs. That is fair and strong but sometimes you can’t be so stubborn with such talented young players that are being advised on moves.
Nusa to Leipzig has led to the dominoes falling with Odobert to Spurs and Nunes to Brentford. Leipzig have ended up with Nusa (fee 25% less than Brentford), Geertruida and Vermeeren (loan, obligation to buy) BTW.
Dragusin, Nusa and Bergvall would have been an incredible January window. I doubt it will be replicated but it will be interesting to see what they come up with.

There are some serious questions need answering. I please can we just stop playing Son down the middle.
We are where we are, but lets not kid ourselves. Our season could be over by October if something mentally and I mean mentally does not change. We basically have the same squad we had last season aside of a few children ready to gain some experience. Most had a decent pre season. The deadwood has gone, yet here we are making the same mistakes and not having a plan to overcome the problems. Sometimes you need to close the shop and wait for the door to blow open. N/Castle knew we would struggle with goals so did just that. Leicester did the same and arguably should have taken 3 points.
This could get worrying for Ange. If arse and coventry does not go well and a slow start in Europe. I'd hate to think how the fans will be then.
You would hope that Ricci is back by then. I'm not holding out for Solanke.
