Visiting the most beautiful islands (only 4 hours from NYC!)

  • Come along with me in this travel video to the Azores, possibly the best kept secret in the Atlantic even though plenty of people are already aware of it. In this video I'm spending the day exploring São Miguel, the main island. I visit some hot springs, eat a volcanic stew, and then drive all the way across the island to see some of the most beautiful views anywhere.
I aim to answer the question: what should you do if you have a day or so to visit each of these islands? Hopefully it gives you some ideas if you’re planning a trip, or at least gives you some generalized travel inspiration.
They say it’s like Ireland and Hawaii had a baby. And it’s one of the most visually impressive places I’ve ever been, it’s only two hours from Lisbon or four hours from New York, and I think you really need to visit. These Portuguese islands in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean are unlike anywhere else in the world.
I spent two days exploring, first on the main island of Sao Miguel, and then on the far western and very special island of Flores. This video focuses on day 1 on São Miguel and the next video will look at Flores on day 2.

I will watch. Becouse, I love aviation as a concept and the technology behind it, but more as a tool to bring me to the most beautiful places in the world. The plane brings me to paradise.

Beautiful indeed. I appreciate how this does complement the FR24 videos. And with all the flying, it only makes sense to me that there is some content from the destinations. I didn't know much about the Azores before your recent series. So, this is welcome. Look forward to other similar content...I'm going to look up flights to the Azores now too!

Great video, Gabe! I have enjoyed it very much, it reminded me of my visit to Azores. I must say that I agree with you that the landscape is simply breathtaking.
Nevertheless, I strongly recommend that every visitor must stay longer, at least 3 days for each of the islands visited. There is so much to see! I was to Sao Miguel, Terceira and Pico and could not say which one was best.
Keep on with these videos more focused on the destinations, they are a great addition to the flight videos.

Hi, this format is great, keep it coming please. For those thinking about visiting the Azores, the weather is great all year round, so I would avoid the summer (today is february 4th and the temperatures range from 13C minimun to 15C maximum, and personally I prefer cooler weather for the hot springs). Cheers

Amazing destination, on my to-do list, it reminds me of Madeira, which you absolutely need to visit too (and where I also got a *funny* rental car btw 🤣)

I just read an article about what is called "Digital nomads". Meaning people who can perform their work as long as they have an Internet connection. Where they travel to very remote places far away from home to work in a completely different environment for a couple of years. This seemed like a very nice place for a Digital nomad 🙂

you should fly to the cayman islands on the 777-200er from Heathrow to grand cayman I think you would generally love it. as someone who lives there, I love it they barely squeeze it in with length of the runway. plus, I would be happy to show you around the island during the summer.

You should return. There is so much more to see. The east coast is magical. I consider Furnas to be mid Island.

  • @Michael-ru3rt

Definitely added value. Particularly if you cover less known spots, places where you could stay for a layover. Your impressions must be biased as everyone has different priorities therefore rough indications of prices help to assess whether I as a viewer would consider this worthwhile.
With a little planning ahead you should be able to get a car at a substantially lower price. I would not want a much larger car on those islands, the Canaries, Madeira or anywhere around the Mediterranean. If you head out into the countryside looking for nature then the roads are often small, as are villages and you will not encounter spacious parking lots often.

    • @airedition
      @airedition  4 месяца назад

Thanks! Yes makes sense, I will include more info on costs where it makes sense. As for the car, I don't know, I looked a few months prior and those were the prices. It might just be an August thing. Or maybe you need to plan a full year ahead! As far as car choice, you're right a small car is a good idea - I just prefer a better quality small car hehe. Thanks for your thoughts.
