The amazing thing is, toxteth is actually alright. It’s not picturesque but it’s not a dangerous place and not even the worst area in the city. The reputation from the 80s just follows it

Best city/culture in the world by far 🇮🇪
Back in the day when Britain actually built stuff, all these rundown areas of Britain were proud working communities, the streets would have been tidy and a bustling community going about their day. Shame.
UK government sent all the jobs to China.
Full of middle easterners and Africans now, and brits trying to act like Africans.
The community needs to be held accountable for the litter, it’s laziness and disgusting.
Guarantee when these places were 100% white native brits, they were proud and clean places.
Maggie Thatcher destroyed community amongst the working class .
I was born in 72 in a predominant English/Irish area and a few Asian but we all got on .all the doors where open as kids we would run into alot of them (parents homes )and who ever we where at at dinner time would just open the door and shout "such and such is at mine eating " or when time to go home just here that you need to go home threw the community grapevine
At Christmas the English and Irish would give presents to the Muslim kids on Eid the Muslims would give food to the Irish and English. This at a time when the riots happened. It breaks my heart what's happening in the UK and it's nothing to do with immigration.
Ok Poland and Hungary have 0 immigration but what have they ever done?
America, France, Canada The UK built on immigration and they or on the fore front of alot.sports , technology, science.
Hate only breeds hate it will never win it has never won
Stayed in Toxteth last year, never had a problem there, yes it's a bit rundown in parts but the people are friendly enough.
In my experience people declaring such and such a neighbourhood to be violent and dangerous have seldom been there.
The only areas I've ever had trouble in around Liverpool is behind Lime Street Station and the London Road region.
Yeh right, try going out to the rough bars there on a Friday or Saturday night by yourself or with the fit misses, lol. Unless you are well known around there, will get jumped. Every time I go Toxteth I see someone getting head kicked in by a gang.
Good to see a place that won’t accept cards, we must keep cash going!

@Joe-said To be fair if you look at the history of the rivalry between LFC and UTD fans in the 70's/80's a lot of it revolved around UTD fans being famed for being the best shoplifters, then who could nick the best clothes became a big competition between the rival fans, then when LFC were doing much better in Europe they were turning up with designer clobber they were nicking abroad, but back in the day clothes shops around Old Trafford were basically controlled by UTD fans like the mafia, they'd go in and openly shoplift knowing the shopkeepers were too scared to stop them, and then it turned into a protection racket, so anyway when the scousers eventually won the shoplifting war they were stuck with the reputation of being the best tea leaves.

It’s always a good idea to have some cash on you, I made it a habit to take 10 or 20 out everytime I see an ATM just to keep indoors, last time I lost my card it took them almost 3 weeks to get my new one and PIN sorted and I went from having money to buying packs of 28p rice with change because I couldn’t get my own money out.
I was talking to a fella from Myrtle Gardens, he asked where about in Toxy I'd lived, I went, Princes Av', an he goes, 'ooph It's rough round there innit.' - Ohhh we had a riot. The Chaplin is cool though, I like that they don't do cards as well, because it isn't half annoying when places don't accept cash.
Never heard of that pub but some pubs in and around the city were infamous. Eagle and Child in Huyton was one place that outsiders would give a wide birth. Fortunately most pubs in Liverpool are fine and the people will do you a good turn rather than a bad one.
I dont understand why the council dosnt do them old houses up and rent them out. Old buildings are better built then new ones.
Exactly
Errrrrrr because the budget has been completely slashed. 🤣🤣🤣
You've seen a five minutes video. - spend a weekend in l8. You'll see real community. The council are skint though. Mayor Joe and his money laundering didn't help but it's up there with Birmingham as one of the poorest city councils in the country. 14 years of austerity. They did actually sell hundreds of houses off for £1 which have been done up. The Welsh streets have been done up. There is a lot of redevelopment and some areas of l8 have lovely grade 1 listed buildings going for well over a million and proper old traditional pubs.
Annnnnnd I’ve just found my new channel to bing :) keep up the good work fella
Cheers pal, appreciate it 👍
the street you were walking up to buy the drink is Smithdown Rd. If you want 24hr booze there's at least 2 places. Lots of redevelopment taking place further down, past the greenery of the girls school away from the Camera view. It's the A562 if I remember right. Chaplin's is on Lodge Lane, you missed Manchester Supermarket oddly named walking past, and there's vibrance when it goes dark, with eateries and restaurants. Sefton Park is nearby, along with Princes Park, and along the Avenue (Princes) they've redeveloped to include Cycle Lanes in the centre of the urban green space inbetween 2 Avenues that form the Avenue and the Road, and that looks good! I think one side used to be richer than the other, Shipping Merchants houses that are collosal in size and often converted into Flats. Another side of L8 has The Florrie, and Apartment builds that encroach with the border of the City Centre, and Park Road, if you'd looked along North Hill, High Park and their continuations and perpendiculars down towards the River
