@@Spacemonkeymojo Yeah you'll be surprised how many changes there are. The movies are fun to watch, but the books are far better. Despite a number of changes, the lotr films (mostly) manage to stay fairly true to the material, although there are a few really big changes/poor decisions that Jackson makes which really add nothing to the films, and end up breaking pretty heavily from the lore in the books. That said, the original lotr films are far, far better than the garbage we got from the Hobbit movies and the RoP series.
Same here! I had a love/hate relationship with this battle as a teen who loved fantasy, with elves being my favorite fantasy creatures. Knowing they weren't actually there in the books helped a little.
I always thought the elves arriving was pretty badass, but I also felt pretty sad for them bc it appears that most of them died. The elves were pretty much on a suicide mission, solely to fight alongside men again, just like Haldir said. I remember reading somewhere that there were 500 elves at Helms Deep in the film, and while the movie doesn't really show the aftermath of the battle in detail, I'd be surprised if even 50 elves made it, considering that they took the brunt of the assault. Still, were it not for Haldir and his elves, the keep wouldn't have made it over the night, and Gandalf would've arrived too late.
This has some reflection of the War that engulfed the world of the time of its writing, although not specifically an allegory the fight between the King of the North and the King of the South had some influence.
The battle for Helm’s Deep is my favourite battle in cinema history The way the battle played out, like it was completely hopeless and became more and more so as the battle continued Only for the king to lead the charge from the keep, and Gandalf to arrive with the Rohirrim It’s the best Humanity making a final stand will always make me happy

The three volleys of arrows are well thought out: as the orc army closes in, the elves atop the tower fire first as they can hit the furthest and have the best aim, second as the orcs get closer, the Rohan archers as they are not as strong or as accurate, and then finally the elves behind the wall as they are firing blind but they go last when the mass of orcs are closest. Also the archers respond to their respective commanders: Elves to Aragorn and Rohan archers to Theoden
that creepy grin by the guy that looks like a blues grass banjo picker however @ 2:34 always tickle's me , he's smoked all of the long bottom leaf
1:33 i love how legolas finds the extra guts to stad strong and risk his life for his friends 🧡
This is the first battle scene where me and others in the theater felt like we were in that battle
3:59 you can see Orlando trying to contain laughter 🤣
the greatest battle ever put on film !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you watch the Elf behind Gimli at 9:09 to 9:10 you can see he was about to deliver a beautiful kick to an Uruk
The interactions between Gimli and Legolas are pure gold.
One of the truly great moments of cinema history :)
Remember Rohan shot first.
Solid reference
Don't worry, if was "self defense"
And it was on point...clearly hit their weakest spot...😂😂😂😂
im glad they got viggo mortensen in the end because when the characters see him and everyone else they think "thank god this fella he's here, hes got it, and he will work it out if not."
Only Gimli could be excited for a fight like this
8:54 Wilheim scream!
loved it
Honestly ruined the scene
@activatekruger446 I feel the same. One of the best movies and battle scenes of all time, and it's ruined by a stupid "inside joke" scream
I like the old 1-1 battle. This movie is like the middle age simulator when you could defeat 10 000 men with few hundred defenders. But withaut cavalry and archmans its hard.
My favorite film franchise-ever!!😍😍😍
Always amazed how Legolas and the rest never run out of arrows…?
8:01 so am I the only one who here’s someone scream “Bitch” 😂
LMAO nice catch!!
@@katiematkowski7478 it definitely wasn’t in the Og version or extended 🤣
@@ServantOfTheGods It definitely was, and you're definitely high if that's what you hear. Pass it my way 🚬
@@activatekruger446 🤣 gotta heat the pipe for the dabs first 😂
One of the best parts about the PJ films is the utter lack of fear in Gimli.
Aragorn: Ladders!
Elves: D:
Gimli: Good! :D
This was on of my favorite parts of this movie.
Goosebumps! Feels like I’m young again!
“Then I will die as one of them!”
God, these movies are perfection
Seeing Elves die makes me sad :(
Only elf at the battle was Legolas. The rest of just added for the movie adaptation
@@aidynoconnor582 Is that so? I’m actually reading LOTR for the first time and it’s crazy how different the movies are to the books. I love how Farmer Maggot in the books actually helps Frodo compared to in the movie where he’s just angry. Just got to Tom Bombadil’s house.
@@aidynoconnor582 I’m definitely loving the book atm. And yeah the Hobbit movies and the Rings of Power are terrible.
Same here! I had a love/hate relationship with this battle as a teen who loved fantasy, with elves being my favorite fantasy creatures. Knowing they weren't actually there in the books helped a little.
2:27 _Wow,elves :0 /// 2:33 _HELL YEAH elves :D
This movie will be one of the greatest of all time❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
can't have an epic battle without the Wilhelm scream. xD
If the ground wasn’t clay then the orcs would have a hard time walking because the ground would turn muddy.
Aragorn's aura is unmatchable in cinema. Everything else just tries to mimick. A Eruchin, U Daeno Faelas a Hyn. An Uben Tanatha lae Faelas!
This whole battle sequence was like a self contained movie within a movie
"Time's a wasting, make yourself useful!"
Pans to Aragon sitting rofl
Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli. A true party.
7:02 that guy always cracks me up
Gimli's & Legolas' rivalry reminds me of classic Thor & Hulk over who was the more superior/skilled fighter
Gillis: I’m about end this army’s whole career
I never fail to cry when the elves arrive!!
This has some reflection of the War that engulfed the world of the time of its writing, although not specifically an allegory the fight between the King of the North and the King of the South had some influence.
Best Movie ever. Jackson went far and beyond with TLotR.
Greatest movies of all time and it's not even close
3:22 - We ride together, we die together, Bad Boys for Life.
5:38 "Why'd ya'll stop? The long moan was an order to keep going."
Nothing ever comes close to these movies
The battle for Helm’s Deep is my favourite battle in cinema history
The way the battle played out, like it was completely hopeless and became more and more so as the battle continued
Only for the king to lead the charge from the keep, and Gandalf to arrive with the Rohirrim
It’s the best
Humanity making a final stand will always make me happy
When I first saw this I was a teenager it’s giving me goosebumps feels good to see it once more been so long
