Scent VS Sight Lure Experiment: Adding Eyes To Lures Using A Sharpie

- Last week, we shared a quick fishing lure hack to add eyes to lures with a marker to trigger more strikes.
However, many protested that the scent of the marker would inhibit the lure’s success and cause you to miss out on fish.

Using a Sharpie or other permanent marker to add eyes to my lures did not discourage the fish from eating.
Be sure to have additional scents like Dr. Juice on board to help mask the scent of the marker.
More important is knowing the 90/10 Rule so you can find the feeding fish.

Making it look real with eyes, and adding the scent will definitely draw the fish in! The proof is in the fish.🎣 Tight lines
Absolutely! Tight lines!!
You all are great @salt strong. Thanks for mentoring us and sharing REAL truth to keep us casting and catching.
You're welcome! Glad the content is helpful!
Awesome catches and another great tip share for us to add to our arsenals to catch more fishes of our own too 👍
Glad it was helpful!
So thankful for my brothers and sisters on Salt Strong! Looking forward to a day on the water tomorrow....
Tight lines!
Somebody recently proved that for Bass at least its mouth feel that prevents them from spitting the lure quickly.
Interesting
@@Saltstrong it was "Bassfishing HQ" btw
Good stuff, Tony!
Tony is excellent at explaining things. One correction - he mentions Salt Strong's multi-layered coverage "from Texas all the way up through Virginia", but Rich Natoli is going a terrific job of covering Md, NJ, and even further north.
That's correct! Rich has some great content and Insider Reports for the northeast area. Sounds like Tony was just referring to the Smart Fishing app, which only has data from Texas through Virginia. But yes, we do have other information further north.
Excellent video thanks
You're welcome. Glad it was helpful!
You don’t rub the Dr Juice in on the bait? Just put it on top? How do you apply it to the big white top water plug?
No need to rub it in. And yes, it can be used the same way on the topwater lures.
I was concerned about this as well at first. With bunker being the predominant bait fish in my area i started adding the black dot further behind the head to most baits. Started using a cover scent but after time and a few moments of laziness i started hooking up without scent too.
Also to note, the type of material using marker on is not a factor either as ive markered up soft and hard plastics and even metal spoons and still caught fish on them.
That's awesome! Love doing these experiments to test different things out. Sounds like it's worked out for you as well.
@@Saltstrong I've even used nail polish to add reflective properties to lures. I squeeze a little pro cure onto the semi dry nail polish and let it dry to completion that way. Not sure the true pros and cons for the effort but have caught fish. I'm starting to wonder if scent really impacts the strike, maybe the bite retention but anyone who's ever pond fished mid summer knows - bass at least dont even need to visually spot the actual bait. They will strike something on cadence alone, skipping along the surface muck never entering the water.
Perhaps it's the water quality that determines the effectiveness scents?
It would be cool if the baits came with the eyes painted on or died into the plastic so it stays.
👍👍👍
Throw out Cheeto puffs for a oil slick I promise it works cast around it
Interesting!
Has anyone tried other color Sharpies for the eyes, like red?
We haven't but had some comments on social media that people had used other colors and used fingernail polish.
The stank juice is all the difference between catching NICE!fish, and catching catfish. Just ask my brother 😂
🤣🤣🤣
Good video, thanks.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Soft plastics smell like chemicals anyway, even the ones that claim to be scented. Good idea Tony!
Thanks!
Use garlic pens
Thanks!
