I’m letting my new plate “season” after trying a few pieces 👍🏼 Thank you for your inspiration ❤

    • @michelleelle4622
      @michelleelle4622 Год назад

      @@VikkiReed Thanks! I tried a few pieces just to kind of see how things worked. I used high flow paint and also tried regular acrylic craft paint. I wasn’t fond of the craft paint… or at least how mine turned out. I kept having issues with not being able to get the paint off of my gel plate. I will have to watch quite a few more videos and rewatch some I have already watched on the how to basics. We can use regular acrylic ink that comes in the bottles, correct? I hope so because I bought a lot! 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

    • @VikkiReed
      @VikkiReed  Год назад +1

      @@michelleelle4622 You'll find what you like...craft paint doesn't work for me, neither does high flow. The less expensive pigments have a high "binder to pigment" ratio, which makes them less effective/efficient on the gelli plate (in my experience)

    • @michelleelle4622
      @michelleelle4622 Год назад

      @@VikkiReed I bought the Golden High flow plus inks. What type of Golden are you using? I thought it was high flow 🤔

    • @VikkiReed
      @VikkiReed  Год назад +1

      @@michelleelle4622 so sorry for the confusion! I'm using Golden Fluid Acrylics, High Flow is even "runnier" and inks thinner still, I'll try experimenting with some High Flow and see what I can offer up...I include a full supply list below each video for future reference. I do use the inks in my mixed media pieces, but not on the gelli plate. I'm confident there are artists out there using inks on the gelli plate though!

    Fluid acrylics retract from a new or freshly conditioned (baby oil) plate. In both instances, it resolves after making several prints.

  • @samautz1
    @samautz1 2 месяца назад

    I have found the Dylusions paint does that & have assumed it has to do with the permanence issue. Her paints will ALWAYS reconstitute with water unless sealed. It acts a bit like watercolors.

    • @VikkiReed
      @VikkiReed  2 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for that input, I'm not exactly sure what you're getting at, I don't add water to any paints when working on the gelli plate as I don't like the results, the Dylusions paint is not my favorite as stated, I assumed it was the ratio of pigment to carrier. The gelli plate can be temperamental and unpredictable, but when things come together, it is pure magic!

    When and how do you clean brayers and gelli plate

    • @VikkiReed
      @VikkiReed  3 месяца назад

      Hi Linda, thank you for your questions, these are important things to know! I will answer and also refer you to my "Gelli Plate Basics" video ruclips.net/video/TarWhnNE3fw/видео.htmlsi=SZ4XIWkGGfzXdg5g I only have success PEELING paint off my brayer, which doesn't always work but is better than the alternative, which is to soak it, some say in Murphy's Oil Soap, overnight (which has never worked for me) or alcohol (which dissolves acrylic paint) but both of those require time and scrubbing...what a mess! You will see how easy peeling is and you have basically a brand new brayer when this is complete. The gelli plate should be treated from time to time with mineral oil, it seems to refresh the plate, and then you can wipe that off with a baby wipe. Best of luck to you, the gelli plate is a magical creative tool!

    • @VikkiReed
      @VikkiReed  2 месяца назад

      Hi Glenda, thank you for your question! I haven’t been successful with fabric, but I’ve seen an artist on Instagram (@margarts) do amazing printing on fabric (she is not using a Gelli Plate though). You can use the Gelli Plate with fabrics, but you need fabric paint, GAC 800 and smoother fabric, any weave makes a clean print difficult to pull

      Yes, absolutely, I use Liquitex myself, but usually the Soft Body, I love Golden the best for this type of printing, and Amsterdam for image transfers...fluid acrylics work best for me, but as stated, I am in a hot and dry climate. Your humidity level makes a big impact on your gelli printing! Thanks for your question!
