Sunshine is my favourite 3D Mario, if only for the aesthetic and worldbuilding alone. It's very distinct, and what it lacks in level variety it makes up for in exploring it's tropical setting and including tons of little details and secrets. Of all the mainline Mario games, Isle Delfino is the setting that feels most realistic, as well as feeling lived in. Whilst it has a very linear structure, you feel the characters and locations evolving over time.
For me Sunshine was my favourite 3D Mario game ❤ I was never a fan of Marios limiting moves. Having the Water Pump brought a new level of freedom. Also it felt good to visit an island so the levels felt homogenous and coherent - not some random levels. Never understood the hate from the majority of fans.
Man, this game has a really hated reputation about it. From what I've seen, people tend to focus on a few handful of admittedly frustrating levels and act like that's representative of the entire game. Also the inverse camera controls threw a lot of people off, but young teen me never had a problem with them. Like, not only did I have fun cleaning up the goop (given that there's an entire game dedicated to cleaning called Powerwash Simulator, I'm guessing other people understand the appeal too), I also really enjoy the F.L.U.D.D.-less levels. Or at least, that's what I remember from when I played the game last time, which was a while ago. I can understand people not getting into the game, but this idea that Sunshine is some kind of garbage video game never sat right with me. I'm glad for videos like this that help explain that, even if the game does have its shortcomings, it's still a great game.
Because most people either think a game has to be all bad or all good. Sunshine has a lot of questionable design choices but the parts that work are the strongest parts of any mario game.
One of my favorite games of all time.
The fact that this game starts with Mario ending up in jail is so funny to me.
wasn’t this also the first appearance of mario’s biceps in a game?
Truly a red letter day.
This page is going to its due recognition eventually! Great video thanks for the hard work!
YAAY!! you're back!!
