Also, see the USGS pdf report "Recycled Cell Phones-A Treasure Trove of Valuable Metals" (2006):

But do not forget to adjust the prices to gold's current value.
The report suggests an average gold content of 0.034g per cell phone:
In 2005 - 0.034g was worth 0.4$
At today's prices (1,800$ an ounce) - 0.034g is worth 2.02$
Will scrapping cell phones make you rich? probably not.
But it will make you some extra cash.

I have made this short list for US citizens who wants to sell scrap electronics. You can contact these following scrap buyers:
Gold Chip Buyer - tinyurl.com/cozy8mk
Relectrocycle - tinyurl.com/8vanc32
CashforComputerScrap - tinyurl.com/92daohe
Mike, South Eastern Ohio - (740)350-1272
I have hand picked these scrap buyer as i know they are very honest and straight forward.
I did not receive any incentive nor will i receive any future commission from these scrap buyers. I'm happy to put their links here as i believe they are trustworthy and will treat you fairly.

Thank u for the best how to video I've ever come across, no god awful bulshit music blaring throughout the entire video, no irritating annoying voice talking about everything BUT the subject at hand, or any other nonsense added to make the video so horrible u can't make it through the first minute much less to the end. I love your style, very informative & very easy to watch & learn from, great job man, thx a million
Thank you for solving a 14 yr. bet with my husband, that gold was underneath certain phones we purchased. Yes yes!! GREAT PRESENTATION.

Golds underneath your old keyboard as well if ,you have an old computer.
Thank you....at the rate of increase on gold prices, this is well worth a look into as a hobby with a little income now, and possibly a lot later.
You really come a long way.... 11 years later.... Saw this this video back in 2012... So much has changed, since then...

Distinguishing gold plate from brass may be a little tricky at times.
the may clue would be the application of the component, for example (of this video), the housing of which the antenna is screwd into, must have a good and relible connection, therefor, it is gold plated.
There are other ways to tell the difference... experienced folks can tell just by looking at it. Others may use acid spot test (like in silver jewelry).
Wow, Very Good. Cell Phones Gold is usually located at the junction of electronics. outdated electronics are likelier to produce parts with a high enough level of gold to make the procedure worthwhile.
👍👍👍👍👍
Hi brother please reply my message
ccc lol
Hello sir where are you and how to sale about?
Thanks Bud.
Love you channel!
I love these videos. since there is no talking, I can blast through a 4 minute video in 30 seconds.
A great idea and a good resource for those wanting to make some cash as well. I have people giving me old cellphones that no longer work.
Thank you for making this video! It is important for everyone to know how to extract precious metals from our "trash." If we continue to throw this stuff in the landfill, we will be a poor country indeed. We need to keep our metals in circulation so we can be less dependent on foreign sources.
Wow this guy had about $180-$200 worth of gold! Better get started!
it's amazing adea :3
thank's man you have helped me a lot
There are 0.034 grams of gold in each cell phone, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. That's the equivalent of 0.001 troy ounces, worth about $1.82 at today's prices.
Yes you are correct
Google huh
That’s the average of every cell phone ever invented and sold, modern cell phones use far less gold so they taint the sample size, the further back you go the more gold you find. The better question is how much gold does each cell phone from 95-05 hold.
This is nice! Thanks for teaching us how to make business out of cellphones. You just made me a proposition that will not only benefit my entire life but as well as future families of 10 generations - making an ounce of gold for 10 centuries of time.
Did you make any money from this?
Hi
I am working on mobile boards at the moment hope to have video up soon,my video will show how to recover and refine the gold
Thank you for making this video.i did not even know there was gold in cell phones...
GREAT VIDEO.THANK YOU FOR THE INFORMATION
idk why but watching this is just so satisfying
the sound especially
the nuts being pulled away are brass but the plating is soft gold on top of hard nickle, on top of the copper traces. which is used both to protect exposed copper and to ease the flux process when populating the board with semiconductors.
Explain to me in simplier terms.
Thanks for sharing gold boy :)
I think the reason for using gold in electronics circuit is that gold is the best electrical conductor there is, second is silver.
Correct me if i'm wrong.
Yea that's right
With the new modular cellphone this won't be very much needed. But thanks for posting!
Indeeditdoes, great video demonstration. I have liked subscribed and rang the bell.
well done man, well done
Well, time to cancel my flight to Alaska to pan for gold. :]
thanks for the introduction. do you have a video on how you get so many cell phones?
Albert Boulanger thats the real question, isnt it?
Thank you for the info. How easy is it to determine gold plate (I assume they are all gold plate-Right?) from copper? Is it just a difference in color Im looking for? Thanks
This is a great instructional video
What can I do with small keypad screens plz tell me
now reassemble it
lo l
yebook Hi
rewind the video that's it

Interesting. Does explain to me why cell phones are too expensive. Nice info
Very nice work,. Sending support here from the philippines,.
the gold is this video has 7 million views that is GOLD
Brandon Horsley 7
Dam it he got me too
😁😂😂
Brandon Horsley 9.5M now...
Brandon Horsley 11M now 😅😅😅
That's why your phone get's fkd after you ask the repair guy to fix em.
I have had a few friends that do this. There is enough gold from 5 phones to equal one wedding band (depending on the phones and ring size)
thank you, be sure to try
How do you find your electronic devices to take apart? How many does it take to make it worthwhile?
TradeMe,Ebay garage sales all sorts of places
Fact: 6000 mobile phones can gives you 340gm of Gold, 3.5kg of silver, 140gm of palladium and 130gm of copper.
Those kinds of phones in this day in age is just as rare a finding gold ..
Very good job, my friend.
I’m waiting for the gold recovery 🤔
what are the next steps involved after this? have you put a vid out?
sulpfuric acid I think . some kind of nasty chemical you have to jump through hoops to get and it does make noxious fumes . not for laymen.
Sulfuric Acid or Nitric Acid in concentrated form to extract the gold in a solution, then reverse engineer the process to extract the Gold in a layer, then wash the layer with distilled water
Thank you for your video, I've got a couple of old cells and was about to put into the trash. Not now...
you need alot of cell phones to make any profit because it is in very thin coats, the chemicals and tools used to salvage it from the base metal is worth much more than a few phones
Good information, Thank you.
Now I came to know why Jio kept the exchange offer of Rd
rs.501
I was not aware that there's gold nuts in some cell phones. Are they expensive or how much is the value of it in the market today?
The components in electronics are plated.
In the grand scheem of things, the gold value of each is very low, but every little bit adds up.
+indeedItdoes Low?How much one of those parts costs(nuts for example)
+indeedItdoes is not gold
less than a quarter ounce in a whole cell phone.
+Shahe Rubaina I think it was plated gold. So not much I would assume
Great videos thank you for sharing.
Good vid man
That's great mate and i had alots of old cell phone .. I'll do that and will be the cost 50 % / 50 % for you hahaha but really it's so fantastic .. Good men 👍
dismantle 24 phones.. sold the gold.. bought a lolly-pop.
One of the better videos but,is there a better way to identify the gold from the scrap?
Aye does anyone no if there is gold in the new iphones i found a broken iphone on the side of the road just curios if the battery or any part of it has gold on or in it
90 percent of the land in my country has gold, diamond and other minerals, others found the gems when farming, any idea how do I detect them plz.
no wonder old nokia phones were made to withstand the jaw snap of an adult crocodile
I like this comment lol
How do u take the mic off if it is attached to the curcit board?
Nice work ....bro....i like
really, if you think about it, if there's $1 of gold per phone, and you can get an endless supply (for free), and can dismantle a phone in around 5 minutes or less, thats around $12 an hour, pretty much taxless. so like 15-17 an hour in the working world.
not to mention you can recycle the magnets and other metal parts too.
There's more than a dozen reasons all serious scrapers look at indeeditdoes as the main source of gold ( and much more) recycling. I wish I could make enough with this hobby to send him so he could hire someone to review and delete the comments made by non-scrappers.
I agree with you. I find indeeditdoes's videos very well done. I've been scrapping since 1980. I started scrapping and refining the gold since 1982. And I've got a stash of "cleaned" gold, ready to process, that would blow anyone away. But like they've been saying, the refining of gold; by the backyard refiner is a Hobby! And it's fun, especially when you hold that fat button in your hands, and know that it was yourself that refined it to 999%! It's SO PRETTY! I'm 57 now, and have slowed down a bit, but I'm STILL doing it! (and I'm a female. just thought I'd throw that in) Non-scrappers just don't get it.
I would not make that too horribly public. Or at all.
Hi,
Even I like to do the same so can you please tell me the procedure?
@@yvonbug Im a complete newbie to scrapping and I see your comment is pretty old but I would love to get some tips from you, you have a lot of experience.
can you please tell me how to separate gold from platinum & palladium in aqua regia solution.
Goggle it lol
Check inside calculators and some multi line land line phones. I have seen gold plated boards there too.
Great video could use some conversation .. process
your birdy approves this message
Any chance those round shiny silvery looking pieces on the white sticky covering, under the keypad / over the gold plated connection circles at 2:23 , contain silver?
exact same phone i just did about 20 mins before watching this!
thanks!!!
Yes it's true
its not gold nuts its golf plated..
raqeb patel
You nut, I want to see a gold plated golf ball.
What's golf got to do with it?
gold nuts?
I notice when striping phones some of the screw anchors in the plastic look gold also are they
Slmat sa pagshare nyo idea sir more power❤️❤️❤️
not all yellow looking things are gold

@@Fsoricko could be brass
Man, you have a severe case of GOLD FEVER.
How many grams of rises of the phone and that the phone is :)
Question TVs also have it in them in the black boards ? Is this true and is there any other valued material?
Thought you were gonna show how you seperated the gold?..
dude, chill xD
smail smailovic Actually, there is. Gold is a great conductor of electricity; however, there is so little of it in a cell phone, you would have to take apart 41 to get 1 gram. "Of course, you can recycle gold from a range of different products, but how far could we satisfy our appetite for gold from phones alone? According to Dave Holwell, about 2,700 tonnes of gold are produced every year from mining - about 7.4 tonnes per day. To get that from mobile phones we'd need to recycle 300m of them. And if we did that every day, the world's estimated seven billion mobile phones in active use would run out in 23 days."

+smail smailovic go away you little child, go play with you're hotwheels
+smail smailovic You seem pretty immature for an adult
Why don't we all just STFU and go search for other ways to make money..
Gold in them phones you just need chemicals to get it out ..
WAOOWWW pls acn u show us how u separate d cell phone panel frm gold interesting
Videos really good looks like a hobby an a money trick
I took apart my 1000$ phone for this!!!
He didn't, he's trying to brag or lie that he is rich.
DjFreeCopyRight
Dj man... Look at the whole video and put a finger on your head if u have one!?! And I will give u my finger ,middle one 😂😂😂
Nikola Marinkov that made zero sense like your comment to this post...
there is gold in old lg phones
Hlo
After all that do you have to use the beaker with the aqua resia
Nice school video thank you bro
this operation is a mute recovery
ددووووڕ
Gold my ass
it IS gold, with a single phone you cannot do much, but for some hundreds as well as some CPUs that also have, you will make good bucks out of them. The best commercial material for conductivity is the gold, so they use as part of the antenna system, and processors of course. Obviously this not applies to all the phones, and that is why there are sites buying phones in different prices.
how much power for the process how much acid how much time, where do you go wit the waste from the acid. knowing the parts are covered by one or two micron.
any tips for collecting the old phones and computers ect I see you had a box full of scrap just wondering
What in the holy fuck is going on in the comments section.
LOL.. US ! :D
how much gold you can find in one phone (in grams)?
About 0.34 grams.
@@armaniii8579 0.034*
If you still do scrap finding in mobile. What method do u use to find gold ?????
Like it I have so many. Phones got to get. Gold in them. Phones now
im an engineer.. and after watchin this i got curious n excited.. so i got some phones and did the same thing n tuk it to a jweller whoz a fren.. he did some process n what we got is a very very cheap industrial gold i mean less than a 1 carat.. its not worth.. waste of time n energy !!
wow man...for an engineer your grammar is disgusting
+cjmelton86 😂😂😂
Akash Sarkar
I doubt he's an engineer +cjmelton86
imran shaikh
and you doing it today 2016?
As for the pieces directly connected to the board. Do you have to solder them off?
What are you putting in the styofoam container on the right side?
it would be really easy with the iphone 6 LOL
To all the haters on this thread think of it like this.
Studies show that there is more gold in a tonne of old scrap mobiles/electronics than there is per tonne of gold ore.
This process is therefore not without merrit.
Wow, write something beginning with "Studies show..." -> must be legit! Any link to these studies? Link to this source? What a dumbass...
+Hookah Boy lol you're the only dumbass here you dipshit..... Get the fuck out of here little kid
+Rex con Scuse me, are you okay?
He is trying to make a good point, you imbecile
Here ha are...legit news outlet reporting the European Commissioners view point on te matter.
Ok, so the process so far as it is at present wouldn't be viable to do as a mass processing industrial business...but find a way to extract not just the gold and to do so at a relatively small scale, maybe it could sustain a couple of people Woking as a co-op...you'd be right to say I'm just spitballing there though
www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-magazine-monitor-28802646
+weedfreer, you forgot to add "you are the dumbass"
wow what an idea
I used
to sell electronics to the gaming industry, and met a man who put those large bins in the stores for collection of used ink cartridges and cell phones. That was 25 years ago. He hired people to take the gold out of electronic devices. The guy is mega millionaire now.
I've heard per pound recycled electronics yields more gold than paydirt.
Oh,God! We found over pack of telephones and thrown them in the trash. Why?
+Treasure Hunters / Кладоискатели Oh no! You would have been a billionare:(.. Next time.
I save my old cellphones Since the 1947 we collected and passed down old and new phones from family
i hope u show how to seperate metals vs gold using a chemichal processing etc how?
Nice video. Thank you.
