    your outlook on art has completely inspired me to start playing! Growing up I was never the "art" kid, but I always wanted to be! Thanks to finding your channel, I've been sketching and I'm going to start playing with watercolor next week. Thank you so much for helping me to find such a fulfilling hobbie!

    I’ve just started sketching and really appreciate your videos! I’m committed to add this to my journey. My pencil set and water colors was my birthday present to myself, 57 years old. Karen and I run a RUclips channel on living your best life. I can’t wait to add some of my artwork into the mix!

    The artist Wayne Thiebaud called watercolor "the impossible medium". I thoroughly enjoy it and embrace the impossibility of it. It seems you do too.

    I love this and feel the same and have brought in watercolor about a year ago. I found its improved all my artworks 10 fold.. I think it's because I sketch and paint so many more scenes now, have learned so much about pigments and paint, I never had an interest in that aspe t before now. Good too see your journey!

    Hey Brandon excellent video. I am just getting back into watercolour. I have been absent from it for 44 years and I am learning a lot about plein air so thanks again for sharing your thoughts. You are right, it’s good to make some mistakes as that’s how you learn!

    You’re making good progress and I really like the video. As someone who’s been on a similar journey a small suggestion. Get yourself a full sheet of good quality watercolour paper and use a two inch brush. Paint big, let the water and pigment flow and do it’s thing, have fun and paint until you ruin it. Take risks, don’t skimp on materials and allow yourself to make big mistakes - you’ll be amazed at how much you learn very quickly! Thanks for sharing your watercolour journey with us.

    I try my best to save up for "good" art materials since I'm a stay at home mom with no income. My art materials are about lower than $10. But to hell with it cause whatever material it is I enjoy doing watercolors... I've been struggling but gradually learning more and getting better I love your videos they are very helpful.
    Much love, Cele from Philippines 🇵🇭

      Celestina Butalid that’s awesome! I think it’s good to save like that. Just to elaborate on my point more - it’s not about having the “best” materials but rather the materials that work best for you 😊

      Haha I felt the same way when I first started - in Alaska. I almost stopped after my first one. I was like, wow - I can't do these, they will be awful. But I stuck with it :) You will get better with time and practice.

    Great video and two hints: One watercolors have to be in checked bags only pan or tubes NSA told me this directly. Two Masking fluid and oil impregnated charcoal do not mix. It makes for one muddy ass mess opps there goes five hours of work. Be safe dude you are one of two artists I watch being the rest are fake ass money hungry hacks fishing for compliments and praise only. Edit: The two people that clicked dislike can go suck an egg!! Edit edit: I think since I embraced ink as my first official medium over a decade ago I fell in love with watercolors for the same reason: They are totally unforgiving about 18 months ago. I am still a hack but I love it anyways. Oh dude technically we are not painting we are dying the paper =) Peace out war in and you are real man so I dig ya!!

    Good recap of the year, and much appreciated due to being able to watch your videos as they came during that year.
    Maybe the reason you didn't like the Fabriano sketchbook is that it contained the 25% cotton Fabriano Studio paper, whereas your Arches paper is 100% cotton? Or .. did you have Fabriano Artisitco paper (100% cotton) in that particular sketchbook? Please let me know. Thx again for your video.

    • @SchaeferArt
      @SchaeferArt  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks for watching :) That's a good question - I had to double-check but yes both sketchbooks are 100% cotton.
