it's not just for bright light it is also because he can hardly see more than a few inches in front of his face. because when you are in solitary confinement for that long your eyes are not used to having to look at things that are far away and naturally lose the ability to see far away

From what ive read the 3 boys all knew each other pretty well, Jessie used to hang out with Jason when he used to live at Lakeshore, when John Perschke got the shit kicked out of him by Jessie..Damien, Jason and buddy were with him, Jessie introduced Vicky to Damien so they all knew each other well, what i have big trouble with is why did Damien tell his own friend Jennifer Bearden that Jasons mother had driven them somewhere when she was at work that night? why even lie to your own friends?

  • @harrycallahan9143

The trench coat what Damien lived in night & day and wore all year round no matter how hot it was mysteriously vanishes after the crime, funny that, days later buys a new necklace on that Saturday and wears that to police station on the 10th instead of the old 1 that had 2 different blood types on it, Domini Teer said she slept with Damien every night but funny enough not on the night of the murders...nobody knows where these 3 lads were at the crucial times and 1 confesses only 7 times.

Damien Echols! I am a 45 yr resident of Marion/West Memphis and the reason Jessie has stayed in this town is because his father is gravely ill! Jessie does my yard work every week! I fully support the innocence of the WM3 but Damien the manner in which you have treated your mom, sister and son is nothing short of shameful! You have surrounded yourself with "stars" and you have this belief that you are now a star! This did not only happen to you Damien! This happened to Jason , Jessie , Michael and Christopher, Stevie and the families of all of you! Take your head out of the clouds because I can promise you that in 20 yrs after Pam is gone you are going to look around and Johnny Depp, Eddie Vedder, Henry Rollins and all the other "stars" are going to be gone! Who might still be here? All of your family and friends you now have forgotten! Who was there Damien before you hooked up with Lori? It is a shame when your own mother shows up when after 18 years of being wrongfully imprisoned to see her son set free and sends a cell phone to him right across the hall and Lori brings it back telling your mom"Damien will not be needing this"! Damien , what is wrong with you?! I will always support you but I have witnessed first hand the medical difficulties your mom is having and it is my belief that a simple phone call from her son asking how she is might do her a world of good! Do I think it will happen? Sadly, I do not! enjoy the limelight while it lasts.!

I know, ive never seen a single interview where hes expressed any genuine empathy about these 3 boys being murdered, the average person thinks its a revolting crime..not him..he admits to bragging about killing those poor boys now..and who in right mind smirks and blows kisses at grieving parents who've lost their children in such a disgusting way? no wonder his own family feared for their lives and put him in a nuthouse before the murders, those 3 poor boys paid the price for his fame..sick.

He said himself that they werent doing magic to ask who did the real killing but that He and Lori could live a happy life after he was released. Why didnt he do magic to ask who really did it. He did it and he knows it.

His poor self? He spent almost 20 YEARS in prison for something he did not do. Of course he’s vocal about that. You would be the same way if this was happening to you. Him investigating the case and doing all these things are not just for him but for those three little boys. Everything he does is to clear his name AND by doing that each step is closer to bringing the boys true murderer to light. I think you should do more research before you open your mouth. Maybe think before you type. If he gets exonerated then the case will in return be open back up and the DNA evidence that he has will come into play and eventually these three little boys will get justice. Stop. Talking. Out. Your. Ass. And. Do. More. Research. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk 🖕🏻

The problem with this case is that some believe whatever the WM3/Hollywood tell them.
Who have the WM3's lawyers tried to blame?
    1. Mark Byers
    2. Mellisa Byers (the bite mark theory)
    3. Terry Hobbs
    4. Bojangles guy
The WM3 supporters (and the WM3) were all out to get Mark Byers for years. When he said ''I want to be your friend Damien''...they dropped it. After trying to blame his wife of course.
Then the theory that Hobbs was gay and got caught kissing another man. He kills them at home to avoid his wife finding out and then transports the boys' bodies, clothing and bicycles to the woods (were they had been seen entering without Hobbs). He may have had help. The info came from two serial con-men and serial rapists. Still, believe it if you're dumb. It may have been turtles though, I'm not sure. The desperate theories changed quite often.
How about this. All facts by the way.
WM3 did it. All confessed rather than clear their names in court. Jesse confessed (about 7 times). He was not 'retarded'. His IQ was low average. None of them (to this day, despite what you may have seen) can give an alibi. Echols continually lies in interviews. Many answers are scripted (look it up). They were seen leaving the crime scene covered in mud (Echols/Baldwin). Jesse confessed he ran off earlier than them before this was known. Echols was/is seriously mentally ill. Baldwin and his mother had a huge row about a knife just after the murders. So much so, the police came around. And they found a knife 20-30 yards from the back of their home in the lake (in a straight line from the back of the home). Luminol tests showed blood at the crime scene. Blood matching profiles of one of the victims was found on Echols' necklace. Candle wax on a shirt matching the candle wax at Echols' place. He was obsessed with the ocult (if Crowley wasn't a devil worshipper, then I don't know what counts).
I think the 'devil' had little to do with this. Three screwed up teens drunk out of their minds did it.

Additionaly, if the state thought they had enough evidence to re-convict them on the re-trial, they would NEVER have offered the Alford plea, they even admitted this. They knew the new forensic evidence would further strengthen the wm3 case, so the only way they could save face was to allow them to plead guilty via Alford plea. They also knew they could be sued for millions due to misconduct, so they took the easy way out.
If they had a leg to stand on they would never have been released.

Mutilated? Post Morten injuries from animal activity you mean? That’s exactly what that is. The hysteria, and embellishment surrounding this case is more repulsive than anything. As though the crime of murdering 3 small children wasn’t abhorrent enough. A biased, uncertified medical examiner blatantly misled jurors, and the rest of the country by seeing what he wanted to see to confirm that bias. They praised his relationship with one of the top medical examiners in the country in court, but when that man turned around to call the autopsy reports garbage, forget that guy. Ad hominem attacks on people that disagree with you don’t make what you’re saying fact. The one sided representation of the case put forth by HBO in the Paradise Lost trilogy doesn’t make what you’re saying fact. The forensic evidence is very difficult to ignore, yet somehow people want to pretend that there is something left to interpret. Alligator snapping turtle bites aren’t what we are seeing. Those aren’t claw marks, but the back side of a survival knife blade. It’s nonsense. Two words...Occam’s razor. Which is the most plausible scenario? People are lying about lying on the witness stand now? They risked being charged for perjury just for the hell of it? The states case doesn’t have legs to stand on.

An Alford plea (also referred to as Alford guilty plea and Alford doctrine ) in the law of the United States is a guilty plea in criminal court, where the defendant does not admit the act and asserts innocence. (Wiki definition)
The state would have NEVER let three murderers out of jail, especially one that was on death row. They know they screwed this case up from day one. The Alford Plea saved the state from being sued by these three innocent boys, who are now men for completely botching up this case. I think it is appalling. Its all about the dollars. Three men lost 18 years of their lives, and three little boys lives were lost and the murderer is still out there, all because the state of Arkansas does not want to admit they screwed up. Disgusting. RIP Michael, Stevie and Christopher, poor little babies.

Shenandoah Village The state lets murderers out all of the time. We're lucky we got 18 years out of them! They could've had a new trial to show their "new evidence" but instead the defense came up with the Alford plea. They are twice-convicted child-killers & they chose to plead guilty to get out of prison when AR was ready to go back to trial. An Alford plea states that they know the state has enough evidence to re-convict them! They knew they would be found guilty again & took the easy way out. Echols is a sick pos.

I've only seen the Paradise Lost series. I was persuaded to think they were all not guilty of the murders. Like everything, I like to view things from different perspectives. I started to think that maybe Damien is guilty and the other two are not. I'm not sure what I think any more. What questions Damien's guilt or innocence to me are things I read about the psychological profile done on Echols before the first trial. Before I look into this further, and read the report myself, are there any thoughts on this?

  • @Megamel99

Jessie Miskelley wrote a confession that repeatedly contradicted itself because he is mentally slow and was interrogated for hours by officers using less than legal tactics. The judge wouldn't allow the confession to be read at the trial because he saw how ridiculous it was. He made Echols read it in a broom closet during a recess.

They have lost a lot . now even two of the parents of the murder children are saying they didn't do it. These teens were roped in because of their beliefs,in the bible belt..its like Salem witch hunts and trials all over again. Sigh. According to the 'documentaries' I suppose he is. The facts say he isn't. Explain witnesses seeing Baldwin's mother agruing about the knife (just after the murders) so much so that the police came to search the lake behind their home. Lo and behold, it's found by frogmen almost in a straight line from their home 30 metres out in the lake. Several juries agreed the wounds matched the knife. The defence tried to blame it on several things including turtles for fuck's sake. The 'bite mark' as the defence claim seems to match the shape of the compass on the butt of the knife EXACTLY. Including the 'star' wound which was the part that broke off in the attack. Witnesses pre trail told police about the compass knife. Hey, what about the blue candle wax (matched at Echol's girlfriend's home) or even the blood on Echol's necklace? Even the fibres of the boy's clothing at Echols home? The witnesses who saw Echols and Baldwin coming out of the woods covered in mud? Miskelly confessed in 4 hours not 12. He confessed several times after that. One was to his own lawyer whilst in prison. His lawyer begged him not to do it, but he wanted to get it all off his chest. His descriptions of the crime scene were too perfect.
I could go on, but it would fill youtube. If you're just gonna bury your heads in the sand cos you feel like a lost soul too, remember that he's laughing at you. For your own sanity, please check the facts.

I am reading Damien Echols book, Life after Death. Recommended to all. I just recently discovered this case and watched all documentaries Paradise Lost 1,2 ,3 after that I saw West of Memphis.
I am pretty sure this is not the only case that has been this unfair and horrendously corrupt. I am sure the only reason we know about this is because of Paradise Lost. Damien Echols is writing in his book that all in contact with the law, knows it's rather a rule than an exception that they will tamper with evidence, they will harass you and they will try to use the power given to them by us, the people if they for some reason would want to do that to you.
I am thinking a lot about why. Why is this happening. Maybe it is a certain personality drawn to becoming police, judges and so on. Maybe the whole environment is infected and the new people just can't stand their ground from what is going on. I don't know, but I know it is happening for several reasons mainly including power, status, money and of course prejudice and fear , as all other problems in the world.
Another tip is watching the movie Scorpio with Al Pacino. It also shows how deep this goes. I am from Sweden, we are also experiencing this. I think no country is free of it, even though there are different degrees of corruption. Corruption is not only the big big lies and things but each and every time a man/woman from the law, with power uses that power in any small or big way to affect something. That is corruption!!!
It is so sad and it should stop right now. We should all do our best as human beings, as fellow beings on this earth to make all injustices stop ! As much as we as one person can do, but one person can make a pretty big chance. Just look at what the documentary did for Jason, Damien and Jessie.
Good luck to these guys I am so glad they are finally out! Now I just hope the real killer will be caught so that the other three small boys will have peace. Maybe by a miracle that can happen even if the law in Arkansas has no plans for trying to catch the real killer. Sad sad sad.
I want to spread more knowledge of these injustices within the law in each and every country!

If they did it and were let go even with this ridiculous Alford plea can you imagine if one kid were killed? The blood would be all over AK’s hands again!

A great question would be "what exactly were you doing on april the 5th 93?" Everything, step by step, instead of "how does it feel...?" "how do you reconcile...?" I can't tell for certain of his innocence or guilt (that is why i research) but if it did come out that he was guilty for sure, it would seem obvious in hindsight from observing him even today - how he talks. It would also help his course if he would admit to his past and say "yes, I was a teenage psychopath... but i didnt do it. Here;s the proof". "Yes I know I was madly into the occult and had a bizar fascination of evil and pain... but I did not kill those boys". The fact that he continues to say that it was because he wore black and that arkasas was a backward place shows that he is a LIAR at the very least. READ THE FILES!!!!

Amazing book could not put down. This book was very powerful to me for the reason being that the people who have it the hardest and by all rights you would expect to come out full of hatred and hardened sometimes do not. This man did not come out hardened but the exact apposite. He became an inspiring amazing human being that gives hope to anyone who is listening. We as human's can rise above. The end result is the state of Arkansas did not kill the man who radiates a beautiful light. The world is full of hater's who will constantly deny that this guy and the other men with him were denied any due process or anything that looked like justice just because they were poor and the state needed a scapegoat for no other reason. I am happy to believe that some people get to live to tell.

Rollins is great. He asked questions nobody has EVER thought to ask. Jason only agreed to the Alford plea because it took Damien off death row. He was demanding, in the beginning of the Alford plea being offered, that he wasn't guilty of this crime and would not plead guilty to anything. He was told that if they didn't take the plea collectively with Jesse and Damien, none of them would get out and Damien would be executed.

Damien told police on May 10, 1993 that he thought a 1 Jason Baldwin done the crime but a different Jason Baldwin..what are the odds of him even mentioning a Jason Baldwin involved in this crime?
Then Jessie told police on June 3, 1993, before his confession he thought Damien Echols had done the crime.
    Paradise Lost
Paul Ford "Do you think Damien killed those 3 boys?"
Jason Baldwin "they made it seem like he did"
Sounds like 3 pukes trying to rat each other out to me.

It's so obvious that Damien is guilty of murder, this dude was a huge amirer of Aleister Crowley, (a person I happen to know a lot about, read his books and such) a whole list of criminal activities already before 18 years.. all kinds of psychologic problems... He did this as a ritual, and the other two kids just looked up to him as a leader. A good real crime investigator once said: if someone is not guilty, he never changes his story. And Damien did that a lot during a lot of different interviews, and in court. The things he wrote of being the next god is something straight from Aleister Crowley's rule of Thelema.

Obviously, you're a murderer because you admit to knowing a lot about Crowley and magic. If that's all it takes for him to be a murderer, then you're putting yourself in the same league.Having mental issues because of family problems doesn't make you insane.Satanists from Crowley's era didn't sacrifice people. There wasn't any evidence that Satanists even committed that crime, but I have the feeling that your uninformed, illogical mind is the same as the people who put them away...ridiculous and immature!

SultrySelket No, you are actually uninformed. ''Satanists from Crowley's era'' is a very uninformed sentence since Aleister Crowley was not a Satanist. If not having an alibi, having a motive, changing your story, having a whole list of psychological issues, being close to the crime scene, being a admirer of Aleister Crowley (which im not, I just know a lot about him), having ''sacrificed'' numerous animals when he was a teenager isn't enough, I'm more than happy to inform you about more details of Damien Echols.

He was out walking about..spotted funny enough right by the woods caked in mud at 9:30pm, pretty much the same time Ryan Clark heard splashing and someone running away from him in the woods.

  • @Revelwoodie

I've watched all the films, looked at the 'WM3 are guilty' stuff, and honestly - I'm torn. I agree the investigation and prosecution were problematic. If I was on that jury, I would have been a 'not guilty' vote. Not because I believed them to be innocent necessarily, but because I felt the case was simply not proven. But after looking at everything, I believe them to be guilty of the crime.
I went through that stage as a teenager - Satanic rituals in the woods, getting high with my friends and group fantasizing about horrible acts. Could I have done what I believe Damien and his friends did to these kids? I don't know. But the truth is, with the high suggestibility of kids that age, the tendency toward fantasism, and the ease with which a teen can slip into a sort of 'mob frenzy' mentality when being reinforced by peers, or simply the thrill of the events...yes - I have to be honest and admit I could have. If you add in the alcohol, send some kids by us in the woods while we were in that head space...yes. It could easily have been me. Or any one of a million teenagers.
Nonetheless, it doesn't detract from anything Damien has to offer today. I never committed an act like that, and never would, because I grew up. I couldn't be influenced that way now. If Damien DID do these acts, and I think he did, that doesn't mean he couldn't have gone through the same growth process as every other stoner teenage Satanist. So there I am - torn. Looking at all the facts and believing him to be guilty, and yet still being glad he's been freed, still finding value in his work as an adult and an author.
The only thing the worries me is this - the attention he receives now: book signings, concerts, twitter followers...what if that stopped? Even if you don't believe him to be a killer, he is clearly, even to a casual observer, a narcissist with a hungry ego. What happens if he writes a book that no one buys? What happens if Johnny Depp or Eddie Vedder stops returning his calls? Will he fall back into the thoughts and behaviors that led to the tragic events of 1993? Has he grown enough yet, is he strong enough yet, to make it on his own?

    • @Revelwoodie
      @Revelwoodie 10 лет назад +3

Honestly? I'm like 70% yes, 30% no. But my teenage years were crazy enough, growing up in the woods in a place and time where Satanism was 'fashionable,' that I could easily see this happening. One witness said that one of the victims said they had a tree fort out there where they used to watch the teens engaging in these activities. I could easily see these teens 'punishing' these boys and letting it go too far. Very sad. I have to confess though, I hope he is innocent. My heart says 'guilty,' unfortunately.

    • @harrycallahan9143
      @harrycallahan9143 10 лет назад +2

      *****
I admire you honesty, yeah i believe they are guilty too for pretty much the same reasons, that's why i was curious, i for one who's into thrash and death metal, going to derelict mental hospitals, woods, horror films etc can understand how someone of not a sound mind (which Damien clearly wasn't) can get bad intentions in their head, hell i mean i even got bad thoughts but you choose to ignore them, but i can see when you're in this sort of pack mentality and u got a bit of a loose cannon within the group you can end up getting dragged into all sorts of trouble, but this was when i was a lot younger mind.
First time i saw the film i thought they done it and that's watching a film that's meant to be biased and portraying them as whiter than white lol.
That's one of the reasons why i researched the case more because...you just know...you know? and ended up finding there's a lot more evidence that points towards their guilt than what the films make out.
Think Damien's a lot like Rob Ferrell who liked drinking blood and killing animals who went on to commit murder, a lot like Lorcan Bale too.
Anyway thanks for the reply mate, all the best.

    ''Wrongly convicted''????
You've probably watched PL1,2 and 3 and the West of Memphis movies. I say movies. Like Zeitgeist and Loose Change aren't documentaries.
I also used to think they were innocent. After PL3, I had a bad taste in my mouth. It seemed a bit one sided. Then, I read the case files. It takes far longer than watching the movies...but hey.
Where are the alibis? Why did Jesse confess WELL after the trial. To his own lawyer? Is that a forced confession? Three different knots. The necklace. Fibres. Witnesses to confessions (the girls). The lies from Echols (too many to list). His medical history. Shall I go on?
Go to Callaghan wm3. It's ran by 3 dudes. Two of whom feel Echols is innocent.
Get the facts before you make a statement like that. The boys murdered deserve it.

Damien Echols did not hurt a soul. The town and the officials dropped the ball on this and had to put someone away for this crime. Have you walked in this man's shoes??? Do you know what this man went through? What Jason and Jessie went through? There was someone who wandered into a restaurant covered in Blood at Bojangles!! The officer who took the call should of gotten out of her cruiser immedietly!!! They lost the evidence!!! These 3 were the easiest targets!!!! I have been up literally for 3 weeks after I saw Devils Knot and Paradise lost because I have never in my life saw such a disorganized, messed up investigation. The families lost 3 little boys and 3 innocent people almost lost theirs. The facts and the evidence show that there were other leads. Everyone wants so much to believe these 3 did it. Someone did this, These 3 did not. There is no way!!!! Just like in the movie the Summer of Sam, They thought Adrien Brody was the killer because he looked weird and he was almost killed at the end. He covered his eyes probably because he was crying. He almost choked up at least 5 times. There was never any evidence at that crime scene, Jessie would of been emotionally unable to function if he witnessed such acts. How convenient for the State of Arkansas to lose evidence. Where is the accountability there???? Nothing can ever bring back those three boys and I pray for the people who allowed these three to take the hit. This could of happened to anyone! The state would of never released these men if they honestly thought they did this. The alford plea is basically saying yes, we were wrong and if we agree to let you out, You can't sue us even though we deserve it. There is no way they did this, Their DNA would of been all over the place. Take nursing classes,,,Fomites and Mitochondria DNA,,,Hair,,,Skin,,,Saliva...Remember the bite marks? Trust me, Arkansas knew they didn't do this.

Lee Billingham oh really? The whole thing is on youtube. Wake up ! Have you even listened to it?

    • @LeeBillinghamTabanaArt

Are you really that thick???? Misskelly has an IQ of about 80, he is borderline disabled. Anyone with half a brain who listens to the confession can see the questions are misleading and the answers fed to him. Once he realised he had been tricked he withdrew the confession half an hour later. The RUclips stuff only shows the part where Misskelly reads a prepared staement. watch the actual interview and you can see them leading him into it because he knew no better. Don't spurt off about things you know little about or at least do your homework first! people like you make me sick.. You need to wake up not me and yes I know the case inside and out, which you obviously don't. Oh it was on RUclips so it must be true! End of conversation as I'm bored by you now as you obviously are anti WM3. Why don't you get a job in law enforcement? You'd do well as they are full of shit as well. ludicrous, absolutely ludicrous!!

Lee Billingham how do YOU know what his IQ is? Give me one instance where he was "LED" by or FED answers by the questioning law officer. He's not retarded or he wouldn't have been able to lay out all the stuff that they did to those 3 young boys.

DrHogfan He IS 'mentally challenged', his IQ IS 72, FACT. And his confession was no where NEAR the facts of the case, murders, PROVEN made up! Let me guess, you also missed the forensic parts about the proof animals ate, mauled, damaged the bodies? And to you ALSO.....research Terry Hobbs, and the FACTS!

The stepfather who gave HBO the knife was John Mark Byers. The one insinuated to be the perpetrator in West of Memphis is Terry Hobbs.

Just curious then...who you think done it? explain to me how you think it happened and who done it blow by blow...interested in your theory.

okay so your the prosecutor at a retrial of Damien, prove your case and you can't say Gary G. confession because Jessie refuses to take the stand even for five years instead of life .... they have done extensive testing and no dna connects the 3 to the crime at all ....they plead to get out of jail (20 years for something they didn't do) and you know that

If your life depended on it - would you swear to that? I doubt it. Cyber-talk is easy. Even if he didn't have anything to do with those boys (and I don't believe he did either) he still made arrogant faces at the victims parents and is problematic. If you really believe he moved to Salem Ma. to help kids who were "like him" - you are ...sorry to say, extremely naive. He's a dark horse and deceptive.

Wouldn't you be dark? Don't you believe even after these years of being out of DEATH ROW, he isn't terrified of being falsely accused of something else? Just like you're doing now?

For you jerks who think Damian and the other two are guilty..go take a look at what people have heard about Terry Hobbs..and the hair found on a shoe that didn't belong to his step son..That man reeks of being a pervert. I am glad the let them out and would trust them with any child of mine.

    • @gagebeard1005
      @gagebeard1005 6 лет назад

I believe they're innocent but Terry Hobbs did live in the same house so its probably just that some fell off and landed on his shoe I guess... idk maybe I'm just on a next level of stupid.

I bet everyone questioning his sunglasses believe he is guilty because they don't do their research because he has said multiple times In videos his eyes are light sensitive
