Was lucky enough to spend a couple of hours in Emlyn's company at an awards ceremony in the early 90's. He kept us all spellbound with his stories of England and Liverpool. What an infectious personality he had. One of the best experiences of my working life .... and that's coming from a MU fan 😂
A great footballer I think it was he's crazy running style that got him the nickname crazy horse, a very nice honourable man , Paul,a Chelsea supporter.
I agree, though Gerrard reminds me of him so much. I’ve always followed Liverpool and love to see them win, though I am a Tottenham fan. 2019 wasn’t a good time for me. 😢
Blackpool fan here , I saw Emlyn play his first game for the Pool and we all new something good was coming Later on there was a night home game against Chelsea and they had Peter Osgood playing centre forward for them he also played for England ,there was a 55/45 ball in Osgoods favour but Emlyn went in fast and hard and hit that ball first the power of that legal tackle broke Osgoods leg it happened right in front of us Osgood was carried off to the chant of "Osgood was good" Emlyn could also drink like a fish and hold it one night he made an attempt to break the worlds pint drinking record at the Blue Room bar I happened to be there he would of drank an unbelievable amount of pints I do not know if he actually broke the record
Him and Willie Carson were hilarious on Question of Sport lol 😂... And millions and millions tuned into watch ... And as a player ,he's right up there with the best 👌 👍.
Emlyn Hughes what a player, I was born in 1967 in Liverpool the year Crazy Horse arrived at Anfield, growing up on the Wirral he was my favourite player as a young Liverpool Fan he is still talked about affectionately by are fans especially in the all time greatest players of the Kop. RIPEmlynHughes
I met Emlyn Hughes in Milton Keynes at my local Heroes bar circa 1997 where he was doing a meet and greet evening.Later he was signing autographs . When i mentioned how magical and successful Liverpool Football Club was his eyes lit up and he had a big smile. You could tell he was living for those playing days. Like Emlyn Hughes, the Heroes bar went bankrupt, had several owners until it was eventually demolished.
Let himself down badly when I saw him play at loftus road in the 70’s, I was about 5 yards from him, a QPR player touched him in the chest, he grabbed his face and fell down, that was the first time I had seen someone try to cheat to get another player sent off. Never forgotten it, unfortunately it’s commonplace these days.
How much research did you do on Emlyn "Crazy Horse" Hughes? The fans gave him the name "Crazy Horse" after the American Childrens TV series "Champion the Wonder Horse" which was shown on British TV in the 60's 70's and 80's. There was a theme tune at start of every episode which started with the chorus "Champion the Wonder Horse, Champion the Wonder Horse!"...the Liverpool fans changed the words to this song and used to sing "Emlyn the Crazy Horse, Emlyn the Crazy Horse !" that's where the name came from! Blimey, I'm a Villa fan but even I know this!!
I wonder why the narrator repeats every piece of information three times. If anyone unfamiliar with Emlyn's football career wishes to learn about him, there are a lot of better sources. Emlyn was one of my boyhood heroes and is still my favourite Liverpool captain. RIP Crazy Horse, YNWA !
What a crock. Yes, a drink driving conviction. But how much time does it merit? Hardly a byline, was an enthusiastic player who did endless good for Liverpool and England? As a United fan, we all respected him.
@@Frank75288 and "we hate Nottingham Forest" Why!!! Took the league title off you, knocked you out of the European cup 2-0/0-0 stopped you winning it a third time, and won the league cup final after a replay 1-0 at old Trafford,,,not enough to hate the "tricky reds" we were just a better team!!!
Hughes was a womaniser , notorious for going with married women and was shown the door by Liverpool for monies being siphoned off from the club’s lottery for which he was found guilty .

Emlyn, what a grand lad, that picture of him and Sir Bobby in their England kit made my day. A real hero and I’m a Manchester United fan.

Horrible AI voice over made this unwatchable.
Apologies for the slip-up, and thanks for flagging it!
Agree!💯💯💯effin AI !!!
Exactly. Lots of interesting videos ruined by this.
Yes, I had my suspicions when they mentioned dollars (instead of pounds) but what really give it away was 5th pronounced f-eye-th.
they don't make footballers like this legend today he was fantastic
I agree, though Gerrard reminds me of him so much. I’ve always followed Liverpool and love to see them win, though I am a Tottenham fan. 2019 wasn’t a good time for me. 😢

Back then in Emlyn's day football teams were actual true English football teams with English players. Not like today.

R.I.P, one good bloke.
He was brilliant at Wolves one of the best signings we made
Great player
The League Cup was the only trophy he hadn't won at Liverpool - but won it with Wolves 1980 - I'm guessing you knew that! - COYW
that isn't Emlyn's picture on the thumbnail
If ever I fall foul of the law, I will elect to be tried in York, with the £/$ as it is
The police were tipped off. They were waiting for him.

It’s an AI voice
He nearly got Rotherham to the premiership
10 wins in a row. I loved working with him. He also had a great family. He is sadly missed. God bless.
How did you work with him
Dollars 🙄🙄
Legend. Btw, at 1.05 he's in a Hull City shirt, not Blackpool.
That's Alan Kennedy.
If you played for Liverpool like he did the greatest team of all Liverpool teams you can't be sad pissed of .fed up depressed even but never sad !
I played against him in a charity match in the 80’s.
That voice over spoilt it and mentioning "crazyhorse" 20 times

What’s the rubbish about $65,000 DOLLARS!!? Rubbish commentary
Lifted the league cup with wolves ⚽
I watched his first wolves game after he left us(LFC 🏴☠️), against Cardiff in Cardiff.
Distant memory
Not dollars…POUNDS!
Emlyn would have got in any team in the country. Then and now
My favourite Liverpool player ❤

Brilliant. Lovely man. Don't know why dollars was mentioned. 🤷♂️

@01:25 The only transfer in England to be transacted in dollars. Liverpool were definitely playing in a different league and way ahead of their time.
Currency should be quoted a pounds not dollars. To say its dollars is crap as thats american currency not british.
Why do they talk about "dollars" on here.......this is the UK,and our currency is POUNDS STERLING.🤔
It's so long ago, I don't remember dollars being a currency in England. Perhaps it was just a scouse thing at the time.
9:35 that’s a very young Jan Molby,,,yeah I remember Hughes rip
His speech "there are two football teams in Liverpool.........Liverpool.....and Liverpool Reserves".......ICONIC humour.
Of all his accolades , Talent and achievements.. You spent more time on a stupid drink driving subject!
Exactly. Why in the name of Bonaparte's balls was that inconsequential nonsense added?
The shame is Tommy Smith and Yosser were enemies

Since when have we been using $$$$$$'s in the UK?
this is quite repetative by the speaker, but what a man
Dollars? I gave up after that, do your research AI , Emlyn great though, True to Liverpool. A Great in their era of Greatness.
