Being a rhythm only player this is a night and day difference and this mod saved me about $600 in replacing the emg's. Love it!

What a 24v mod does for the EMG is to give the pups wider dynamics. So when you take down the volume knob it will be much more responsive when playing.

    YES.
Happy multiple-time customer of these; love ‘em to itty bitty bits. I’m a bassist (though I dabble in guitar, as well). I use my 24V mods on the EMGs in a couple of my basses. Awesome sound.
Great vid - thanks, and cheers!

I got two big differences. One, my cleans actually sound dynamic and full range. And two, dynamics, even when distorted. The guitar also definitively responded or "felt" more reactive, instead of compressing right away.

You put a Hetfield pickup in a Hammet guitar and then the first song you play is a Megadeath song??? Lol! I don’t know why but that’s hilarious to me.
And Holy Wars is still such an awesome song.

I just popped mine in last night in my LTD Arrow 1000. There is a good difference. It's subtle in the grand scheme but the changes in feel and frequency is definitely worth it. I feel like it's now more comparable to my Fluences. As people have said, it opens up the EMGs.

I about to finish a 18volt mod with and 81 bridge and 60 neck.
One thing I've read a bunch is that the higher voltage is most heard on clean tones.
I've read much like you demonstrated for distortion. Not alot of difference except compression.

I find it makes a difference on both clean and distortion. It makes the tone less noisy

You seem like a good person...
There's the emg-x i had them in a guitar and they were 18v
I also have had multiple basses with emg-jvx pick ups...
I just ordered a gotah floyd rose and my guitar is getting 81 S 85 in white with 24v mod im very excited..so that's how I ended up here!

I did not hear a single difference personally (I mean this is also through computer speakers so...) but then again I couldn't even tell you if a single string was out of tune until I play something I'm used to hearing constantly so take that for what you will.

I'm using a 7.4 2s 35c 2200mah drone battery in mine with a small Step up dc to dc buck converter. $6.for 5 of them on Amazon.
It lets me step up the output voltage on a small screw from 3 to 37v. Any input voltage.is 1 inch long by half inch. And could easily be wired after your battery box if you have one. I have a dean custom 350 and has a lot of room. Drone Battery is 3x1.5x1.5 inches and rechargable.. 35c rating lets it put out 70amps which is 1000x overkill. But I would never get voltage drop.I also tried a old cell phone battery 3.7v stepped up. Basically I could go 2 years on this battery.
I used to use it on a 9v battery just to keep the voltage consistent. And get every drop out my battery.
Anyway ive tried every voltage up to 27v max. Once you his 19v upping it makes no difference. And 17v is where I keep mine.
Does it make a difference. Yes...pick attack is quicker. My 85 neck pickup sounds more like a 60 now and more ring. Rolling down the volume works now.
That 24v mod is just to fit the batteries. If you take a razor knife and open those A23 batteries. You will find 8 hearing aid batteries, just stacked on top of each other for series. You could easily make your own with 12 for 18v... A good 9v battery has 600mah. Those doorbell A23 are only like 60 to 80mah tops. So you get 10x less life.
Doing it again. Id just use a dpdt on/on switch to switch between 9v and 18. And go dual 9v. Depends on the music. But sometimes I want the 9v sound and compression.

    No significant difference imao…
May be it will be easy to hear live.
But on the YT it’s hard to hear any improvements

I plugged in my wireless unit into a guitar that had the 24 volt mod. Now the wireless unit doesn't work anymore. I don't see a warning about using wireless when using the 24 volt mod. Anybody with the same situation.

Look on the 24V site. I think there is one you can buy that lets you go back and forth.

Truth. All these experts aren’t putting up their videos when they started. How did they get to where they are? Practice.
