I love Rumple and Alice’s relationship he cares about her a lot his selfless action proves it but the look on his face in this watching her with Robin was so fatherly it was cute
The look on hooks face!! He realises that despite everything rumple hasn’t prospered. If anything rumple is the most hurt and lost everything close to him the most. He genuinely feels sorry for him
Genuinely the saddest scene I’ve ever seen. It’s so depressing knowing the sacrifice rumple has made to burden himself with the dagger, how he’s lost all hope for getting back to belle, and he’s losing his sanity to the darkness. Really makes me cry
Liked him more in earlier seasons though. Did a much better job with all those little things, specific movements of his head/hands, etc, and facial expressions and so on.
@Ana Swan Slightly bizarre images of him, Charming, Hook and Robin doing their dance on the table at Granny's! Or if it's more like the Full Monty, you'd need a more ragtag band - maybe Archie, Leroy and Sidney
I think Alice was Rumple’s first ‘real’ friend. Wasn’t she? I mean, before he was kind like this, he didn’t care about anyone except his family. I don’t think he had any friends until Alice.
I thought of Charming as a friend of his. I guess they are family too, but they didn't know that until after they were friends. I think Rumpelstiltskin was his friend first in the Enchanted Forest, and Charming only saw Rumpelstiltskin as his friend after they were in Storybrooke. They kind of fell apart later on. Rumplestiltskin ran to Charming for help finding Belle when she ran away, and asked for dating advice when she turned into Lacey.... Which Charming actually helped him with both times. Rumpelstiltskin was willing to be embarrassed around him which was an unusual thing. Charming assisting saving him against Cora was another example. Charming had thought Rumpelstiltskin was dangerous and locked him up before, and never had any qualms about killing villains. The fact that he was willing to assist saving Rumpelstiltskin instead of stopping Cora but letting him die was interesting. On Rumpelstiltskin's side, his price for helping find Jefferson was forgiveness from Charming. He could've asked for anything, but that was what he cared about. Also when he found out Charming was going to be stuck on Neverland, Rumpelstiltskin offered to come up with the cure without doing his usual tit-for-tat bargaining. He was concerned for Charming first, and only mentioned the "I help you, you help me" thing after developing the cure. Rumpelstiltskin also did little things for Charming that he didn't need to while he was arranging for the Savior to be born. Like dressing Charming as a prince when he went to kiss Snow. That wasn't necessary at all, but it was cute, and Rumplestiltskin was a sucker for true love... And for his friend. He helped Regina too of course, playing the ends against the middle, but was always doing extra little things for and with Charming that he didn't do for others. Their fight scene was adorable. As if the Dark One needed to fight at all lol!! He was just taking the opportunity to get a few swings in with a friend. At least, that's how I saw it.
It's more than just losing the chance to see Belle again. Rumple is a new man. But he's desperately afraid that without Belle to guide him, he cannot resist the darkness. He sees it growing on him, building in him until his complection reflects him. It's not just loss of Belle. It's the inevitability of his own impending damnation. It's a fight he knows he can't win. Without the Guardian, he'll lose himself, and he knows it. He's given up. He'll fight it as long as he can - for Belles sake and for his own. But he's already written himself off as lost.
That’s the thing, this rumple is the one who married belle and had 2 sons, he is a father also and even though he and Neal had a complicated father-son relationship, he did spend a long time with his other son and him and belle raised him happily together. I think with all that he is able to see Alice as a child as well and he grew fond of her and she is kinda his apprentice so I’m guessing she’s like a goddaughter to him if not like a daughter also. Even after Ivy spells everyone Weaver is always taking care of Tilly.
The "first" Hook takes care of Baelfire at Neverland, when Rumple couldn't do it. And now, when Alice becomes Tilly, Rumple takes care of her until Rogers (New Hook) can do so. I just love it
This was one o the greatest shows to watch, and he was by far the best character I've EVER seen develop. and i cried when i watched this scene, shamelessly.
absolutely. I hated him in the beginning, like everyone should. But he became someone no one else could have. Selfless. EASILY the best character, and person in the show.
I cried when I realised Alice was well, Nook's daugther and kinda Rapunzel at the same (I know it's not exactly her, cause she was introduced and it's Tremaine technically but they show way more of Alice painting and stuff like Rapunzel in Tangled, she's trapped in a tower and blahblah) cause Alice's aventures in Wonderland, Peter Pan and Rapunzel are my three favorite stories of all time. I also like how Rumplestiltskin is kinda the Mad Hatter in this reality.
John Gillespie no. that’s not why. Rumble has never been touched he’s the dark one people fear him so when he went to shake rumbles hand he was confused because no one has cared to be genuine with rumble he’s alone and has never had someone shake his hand. Has nothing todo with Manners . As bad as rumble is . He a lot of pain and loneliness
yes, hook at decides to finally of make the peace with rumple after to have discovering that he has allowed Alice to have a life normal and happy with robin
What's so sad about Rumple was that everything he did was so he wouldn't have to suffer the pains of humanity. Unbeknownst to him, he only prolonged his suffering for far longer than necessary. It took him numerous lifetimes to see that.
exactly, in the episode 3x11 after having telling at baelfire and belle that he loved them, rumple himself killed with peter pan and is became a hero and in this episode, rumple has stopped alice from becoming the new dark one for than her a life normal and happy with robin
I know that they're friends now and a strong one, but this scene especially because of Rumple's expressions and Hook's embarrassed face kinda feels awkward😁😁😁
It's sad that usually when Rumple is foiled it's because he's overreached for power or made a selfish decision; this time his only objective is to lift his curse so he can finally die and be with Belle.
Im glad they stopped at 7. Yes I didnt like season 7 but I think making more seasons after the way 7 ended would have been way to tricky for them to do. And would kinda ruin season 7's ending lol
I still don't get how this Alice exists? I mean yes i know that wish realm Hook and Mother Gothel did the nasty and all, but I mean her being the character of Alice from Alice and Wonderland. Sure there are two copies of everyone from the Enchanted Forest due to the wish realm being brought into existence, but we already had an Alice from the spin off and she was from our real world London, not the Enchanted Forest. And even if this Alice is mean't to be some wish realm version of her, they look nothing alike. It's just...this Alice is just a mystery to me. It's like the writers wanted to use Alice again, but realized she was already married to the Genie and they just said to hell with it and used Alice anyways as a completely different character. I feel like they could have used some other fairytale character who hasn't been used before instead of the Alice character again. It's the same issue I have with season 7 Cinderella and her family, like...we already have those characters and these new versions are clearly not wish realm versions of the characters, same with Rapunzel. I just feel like they should have used new fairy tale characters instead, it came off as lazy writing. I mean make a plot with The Black Cauldron characters (yes i know that movie was a financial flop for DIsney, but it's gained a cult following since) or what about Hunchback of Notre Dame or hell use one that hasn't been a Disney film like Goldilocks (Which could have been the replacement for Alice and they could have used the same actress). Hell if you wanna get real wild go for Atlantis the Lost Empire. I don't know, just use something new. It's the last season, they should have just gone all out.
It’s such a hard scene to watch. “Spin spin spin...” You can feel the pain in his voice.

Didn't he once say to belle, that he spins to forget?
