I haven't played the game yet but I'm glad to see the tree growth being mentioned in a more positive light, since I already anticipated it would be more satisfying to see your little saplings grow than to just plop full grown trees. I hope they don't get rid of it because of the initial negative reaction, or at least make it togglable.

The tree mechanic also shows the age of different sections of your city. That well established suburb will have large grown tree while a new development will only have saplings.

The tree grow mechanic is good, feels more real to me.
"I want decorate with that tree"
Ok, you need to wait the tree grow. You think twice before delete the map trees

Yes I totally agree with you about education and how everything impacts each other! And the sounds in the game! Fantastic! I actually prefer the sounds over listening to the in game radio stations!

It's been interesting watching the pre launch videos and the different takes. I think part of this which relates to your hot takes, is that the streamers largely make cities that need to be visually appealing as that's what is necessary for videos. Where as most people playing a game our doing so for game play mechanics. Which leads to some interesting choices. The trees favor the game play mechanics side but the new zoning options favor setting the appearance of an area unlike, say, chossing a Sim city 4 zoning option where anything upto the max density for the zone can appear which feels more like a game and less like a city designer option.

5:57 the production chain is kinda weird tho. If there is no access to a buyer (either thru gridlock or lack of road/train/boat/plane connection), the seller's vehicle despawns and the goods are teleported to the buyer, and the producer's storage doesnt lose any tonnage.
Some vehicle-using services work like that too, but i think you still need a pedestrian connection ? (it gets pretty funky). If you never build these services, then outside connections will fulfill the request, but they'll never spawn their vehicles within the map boundaries (since there is no road access, they almost instantly fulfill the service request from outside the map boundary)...
Kinda useful if you were to have massive traffic issues i guess.

@gorrium5027 I think it will be ok. They are at least transparent. And I signed up for a Microsoft xbox/pc game pass. 1 usd (Or 1 euro, 10 SEK) for 14 days. Cities 2 will be available there at the same time as steam etc. So it's a cheap way to try it.

I just wish I could force what industry or office buildings produce like cities skylines 1. For example having food producing buildings near the farms looks so pretty, but it's just random and I have to bulldoze a concrete making building 10 times before I get the industry I want.

Re-name things = cheeky fun! I love that term, Every good game should have an element of Cheeky Fun.
I love the trees as well, but a row of close together trees can look a bit like they are all cloned, I saw someone else planting trees, rotate each tree slightly so when they grow they appear slightly different.
Another great informative video, thanks for sharing, 5⭐'s

I like the idea of being able to specialize a town in a particular industry. Once a surplus is gained, it looks like you can use that industry to bankroll things like education. Some US states use their resource extraction industries like oil to pay for public services like college scholarships, so it will be interesting to see how much you can rely on industries to add flavor and pay for services.

so much AWESOME stuff in CS:2... can't wait to play it... but there is also some criminally BAD things... the random buildings and stuff placed on farms, mines etc. it looks ridiculous that buildings are just tossed randomly around the fields... NOT realistic... and having a digger drive around with the shovel deep in the ground is horrible... if anything have it drive out, then dig about, then move to another spot, dig about etc.... and the loader driving out and all the way back over the asfalt with the blade down is just BAD... they failed big time to make the extra barns and stuff on farms ploppable so we could place them where we wanted and with some dirt roads between them etc. and the fields looks a bit "bleeh" (guess mods might fix it/better it)
the road tool looks AMAAAAAAZING and I can't wait to build all sorts of cool roads with it...
also the foresty needs stuff like log yards etc. we can place so it isn't just a hermit shack in the woods and tadaa "logging business"... the houses etc. looks GREAT... the CIMS looks horribad...
    but in general love it

There was 1 time i was looking at a CRIME SCENE at a park. I saw 2 people sitting on a bench in this park. 1 of them had the Occupation of ROBBER lol...
The Police car showed up and I was thinking "Am I going to see an arrest?". Nope. The CRIME SCENE went away, the cop car drove off, and the robber stood up and walked away. I was excited about seeing a possible arrest, and then nothing. Criminal free in my city hahaaaa
So if you see crime scenes in a area you can look at your civs, look around and see if you can find the criminal. Even if your police force cant 😆
