I don't believe so. Look at the European Migrant crisis since 2015, Nearly 10 years now!
Since then an uncontrolled mingrant flood was underway, sometimes even helped by European citizens with literal ships to enhance the flow over the Mediterranean Sea. Probably a few million new migrants/asylum seekers, if you can even call them that way. This number is only partially correct as Exact allegation are difficult. Political drama and ruling parties as well as the EU did nothing worthwhile against it, sometimes even encouraging it.
The US is not alone with this problem, you are only now facing the brunt of it, it started slowly in 2015 as well but now it spiked.
