A year ago, a cousin of mine named Marco showed me Limbus Company. I was instantly hooked. I remember coming home from work and playing like crazy, and being on Discord with him whenever I needed help with a difficult boss...
He always helped me, even though I'm kind of hard-headed when it comes to reading enemy abilities.
Don Quixote was his favorite character, and I remember he was really excited to play the Canto. I remember that the day playable chapters came out, he would always catch up. He was glued to this game and the series in general, ever since Lobotomy Corp.
On January 25th of this year, my cousin passed away by heart attack as a result of a tough battle with colon cancer...
This song always makes me think of him, cuz i have a vivid memory of him telling me he couldn't get the song out of his head.

In fact, the themes of both the source material and this canto are directly AGAINST what you said. Dreams have a lot of similarities to delusion, and are not always achievable, but that doesn't mean that you should stop dreaming altogether.
Fun fact:the background shows us what she experienced, the person she's holding is her hero, the person near the kneeling guy is the second segment of the song, the full loop is a merry-go-round and the third segment, the fourth segment is don quixote

I dont know if anyone noticed this. But the figures around the girl in the image. They depict the heros journey trope. And the song is cut in segments just like it. This is incredible.
It fr shows the hero’s journey if you see left to right. It shows that no matter how a person falls, they get back up no matter what challenges faces them.
There is another part of it you missed the original figure that falls down has short hair but the figure the figure that picks themselves backup has long hair.

Not only those it depict the hero's journey, but we can actually see 2 people, at first an adult and a child, but when the hero reach the Abyss/revelation as their horse fall, only the child rise back up, becoming an adult and looking even more heroic as she Return Home.
As someone who lost their father a 9 months ago, this canto was by far one of the most impactful things to me in the process of coming to terms with the world he left me behind in. I'm a horribly autistic fuck up in many aspects but he never stopped loving me and trying to support me while i struggled to stand on my own. I think it's not really a coincidence the cancer that was supposed to give him 3 months to live, only claimed him a month after i had finally found stable housing for the first time in years, and the ability to support myself, albiet roughly. This was 5 years past his diagnosis, and 15 years past when got custody of me and my brother back, saving us from a significantly worse life. I wasn't always the best kid, and I'm not a great adult, but his dream of me living a life worth living lives on in me, even though he left us, and maybe one day if we end up reconnecting i can truly describe to him how much he truly is... my hero. I love you and miss you always.

When I played limbus company for the first it was with my father you know but when I reached canto seven last year my father suddenly passed away from a brain aneurysm and whenever I get sad and I find it hard to move forward I listen to this song as it reminds me of all the words he spoke to me even if I was to young to understand and with the song of saikai came out with canto 9 it really puts into perspective of how much a parents love for their child truly is just to provide the necessary things for us to grow up

The third part is the child desperately trying to hold onto those nice memories they had as a kid of their parent, and the final part is the child realizing that they’re a different person from their parent, and they can solely rely on themselves instead of that idolized view of their parent.

Taking that with the lines of being your own biggest fan, it is basically saying that the singer’s greatest proponent and dissident is themselves since the word “fan” in this context takes a double meaning.

a detail i really like about the way the vocals are sung is that the more cheerful sounding parts are sung in cassie's more bright and "childlike" voice, meanwhile the darker and slower parts are sung in a more mature tone. in other words, its sinner don and sancho being reflected in the vocals!

It's been a long time since I've been moved to tears by music.
The song started with such a bright energy, and the hopeful lyrics made me think about new beginnings. You know that feeling when everything seems possible? It reminded me of being a kid, lying in bed too excited to sleep because mom and dad promised to take us to the amusement park the next day.
When I heard the lyrics 'After you I follow, Forever my hero,' I thought about my parents. Looking at their backs as they walked ahead of me, holding my hands - they seemed so strong, so reliable.
Back then, I really believed they could protect me from anything and everything bad in the world.
My parents taught me so much about life and showed me new things every day. They were my whole world...
At least, that's how it was when I was young.
1, 2, 3, 4 - just as the song counts up cheerfully, everything changes completely.

After that, the lyrics turn dark, like they're saying nothing in the world is real.
It hits close to home, reminding me of my teenage years.

Yeah, they became the people who could make my blood boil in seconds.
Every word out of their mouths felt like an attack.
It's funny - I used to be the kid who couldn't even kill bugs, always carefully taking them outside. But during those years, I was just... angry. All the time.
Slowly filling up with negative feelings I didn't know how to handle.
The happy memories of those amusement park days? They felt like they happened to someone else.

The lyrics sound energetic and bright, sure. But to me, it sounds more like someone forcing themselves to smile while breaking inside. Like they're desperately trying to say "Hey, look! I did all this for you!"
It's supposed to be about doing things for others, but really, it's about wanting someone - anyone - to notice you, to say you did good.
It made me think about how I used to study just because my parents said so, exercise because they wanted me to. Playing the perfect son role.
None of it was really for me - I was just acting the part they wanted me to play.

When I finally got through those teenage years and things started to calm down in my head, I figured something out. I realized I needed to stand on my own two feet and live my own life.
Even when I'm not sure about my choices, or when things feel uncertain, I know now that the real problem was how negative I was about everything.
I learned that I have to trust myself, and that I'll only find real happiness by living life my way - not someone else's.
So these days, I'm doing things because I want to do them
And now. My relationship with my parents is actually pretty good now
