The funny part is, after Clarkson referred to Megan with a game of thrones reference, and after this film was made, Clarkson is fine and Megan Markel and Harry are essentially cancelled, weren't even invited to family events surrounding Harry's dad's coronation. Clarkson was right, he just said it before some people were ready to listen.
I never realised it was a GoT reference until I read this. Not that I read the article (I wont read the Sun on principal); but all I could come up with was some sort of horrendous Lady Godiva reference and I'm a big GoT fan (and also a massive Clarkson fan)

Then I was made aware of the GoT reference in an article that also explained why it was an apt analogy and I was mystified even more why he was being "cancelled" over it. Jeremy has been controversial many times, but rarely wrong and certainly never hateful towards anyone that didn't personally deserve it.
@@laupstad For me its pretty normal to find that if I actually watched ead the Clarkson controversy before the media storm I found it funny and could see that it was actually a joke. If I didn't watch/read what Clarkson said I didn't and could understand why it was controversial. From this I conclude that as with most Controversies from comedians; its the media issuing quotes without context and completely removing the humour. YMMV
To be fair - they were invited to all of it - Meghan refused because she had clearly gone too far and there was a huge concern about being boo'ed, and Harry's ball and chain dragged him back to LA as soon as it was over.
Jeremy Clarkson told Piers Morgan not to write about his family. He didn’t mind being criticised about work, or anything else. Piers more or less said that comes with the territory. Then followed a little session of finger prodding of each other’s chests, where they were asking, “What are you going to do about it?”’ - Clarkson then punched Piers Morgan three times, Clarkson saying that it was the first time he’d ‘ever hit anybody ever’, and that he had 'busted his finger' doing it. (well done Jezza!)
Piers Morgan has a scare on his forehead from Jeremy Clarksons punch and Clarkson broke his hand or a finger in the process. Before the fight they had been mates for years but Piers Morgan being in charge of a national red top newspaper decided to profit off their friendship, Piers Morgan is a pile of 💩 , pure scum

Love people like Jeremy Clarkson, Ricky Gervais etc who just say shit how it is without worrying about pissing anyone off. A dying breed in this 'offended by everything' world of today. I would not put Jeremy Clarkson and Ricky Gervais in same sentence. Gervais is funny, Clarkson is a nasty bully who was fired for punching a crew member who did not act quickly enough for the entitled "star" when requested to do something. He is a a self righteous bigot. Regarding his comments about Megan Markle has he nothing better to do? I am disappointed that you guys endorse him.
public opinion is turning against him so much that The Grand Tour is currently #2 in the UK Amazon Prime Top 10 and Clarkson's Farm is #4. He's still massively popular despite what that documentary said
I shall be forever grateful to Jeremy Clarkson. Not for his farming series which I love, but for visiting us in Iraq. He asked if we had any problems so we told him of our window of NO! Our kit store would always say no whenever we tried to change kit. We could see what we wanted on the shelves but the answer was still no. After telling him, I am told he wrote an article in the Sunday Telegraph about it but I can verify that on Monday there was a sign at the kit store saying "we are now the window of YES!!! Thanks Jeremy.
I don't think you both get that Jeremy, Richard and James DON'T hate each other, that was a joke. They are mates and after Clarkson left top gear in 2016 they could have looked at other projects but CHOSE to work together because they know they are a good team. All the myth busters or Gallagher brothers comparisons are pretty redundant
@@PoX-amp No, they don't. They are three blokes of a generation where this is the absolute norm. Where you can absolutely fucking despise each other at times and laugh about it later on.
@@BrianBell4073 Oh there was no doubt that Top Gear would end right then and there (May and Hammond already said no two months before the BBC announced that they wouldn't be back), that Amazon picked them up was just good business. It was literally the biggest show on planet earth with the most viewers of ANY show when the BBC cancelled Top Gear (and yes, I know they have a show called Top Gear but it's not Top Gear, Top Gear is Clarkson, May and Hammond).
And where are we now? Amazon hasn’t sacked Clarkson, he is still one of the most beloved British celebrities in the world and Harry and Megs… well, let’s just say they are digging their own graves and are very much disliked by the majority of the people.
I think most people didn't get the refrence from game of thrones. Jeremy has a great turn of phrase, if you dont like him dont watch him. His clarkson farm series is a must for you guys.
From a purely logical standpoint, Clarkson's remarks were aimed at one person. The definition of misogyny is that it's a hatred of women, not one specific woman. "If you hate me, you hate every member of the groups to which I belong" just doesn't make any sense.
36:40 I love this shot, it showcases their personalities very well. May is wearing a bow tie, to appear classy and old fashioned. Hammond is wearing a straight tie, trying to appear official and respectable. Clarkson wears nothing with an unbuttoned collar because he couldn't give less of a toss. Poetry.
That tractor was actually ridiculously cheap, he paid around 40 grand for it. And Kaleb has borrowed it on a few occasions to handle jobs too big for his tractor.

The world needs more people like Jeremy! Also, everyone knows that bit from his article on Markle was a reference to Game of Thrones! Also, his Lambo Tractor cost only about a third of what a brand new Tractor would've cost! Apparently, he wanted a Fendt, but they were just too expensive.
The drinking gin whilst driving incident is ridiculous, not only are they not in British jurisdiction or under British law, there's an entire camera crew and production team there filming it, it was a stunt like everything else, those who complained are tiny minded bureaucrats that had no idea where their jurisdiction ended!

Let me hit you with some facts that this documentary missed. In 2013 Top Gear set a Guinness World Record for being the world’s most watched factual show with more than 350 million people in more than 200 countries watching. They won an Emmy for most factual show and the BBC never bothered to congratulate them. Jeremy and James were the first people in history (along with the TG film/support crew) to drive to the North Pole. Allegedly during the 2004 British Press Awards, on the way to the bathroom, Clarkson punched Piers Morgan after their discussion became heated. Clarkson allegedly asked him to keep his family out of his publication (pictures of Clarkson with a woman has been published in the past which led to a lot of stress for his family), and Piers allegedly insulted Clarkson’s wife as well (not sure when). Piers allegedly stated that “it comes with the territory” (of the tabloid-type publication) and Clarkson supposedly punched him three times in the head for disrespecting his wife. As for the being misogynistic/Megan Markle comment there’s more about that which wasn’t mentioned. He was allegedly referencing a game of thrones episode and he has a female editor who I’m guessing must have approved the article prior to publication. He’s stood up for women on Top Gear many times as well. Clarkson remains himself. He hasn’t been cancelled despite the crazy people who seem to be removing the joy from this world. There’s a third season of Clarkson’s farm coming and The Grand Tour is still going. Watch Top Gear for yourselves because it’s brilliant. Start with the Toyota Hilux episode.
Considering Morgan is the person who went after Ian Hislop after Hislop pointed out ethical issues with the mirror I'm not surprised, it included doorstepping Hislop's house for weeks at a time. As well as asking his local vicar if he had said anything "good in confession".
The Clarkson / Wilman Top Gear earned the BBC an incredible amount of money selling it through BBC Worldwide. They would of dropped him like a stone much earlier if it wasn't for the fact he and the show were insanely popular. As for his latest controversy with his words on the sacred princess Meeeeaaaaaghan, she's hugely disliked in the UK so the general population probably didn't mind his article. The only member of the royal family hated more is Prince Andrew, and he had some dodgy friends to say the least.
Clarkson was being a wind up merchant re Meghan Markle, who I happen to like, having followed her in Suits, as did Piers Morgan who gushed about her when he met her in his local pub. This was on RUclips prior to her meeting Harry.
I can't think of any British TV personalities that have made such a huge impact on the world in terms of sales and outrage. We need more Clarksons in my opinion and it's just because everyone is too scared to say what they think. I'm not saying that I want things to go back to the dark days of Manning and Davidson but just getting some balls in the discussion of life does actually help us all.
I DONT CARE WHAT THEY SAY, Jeremy clarkson is the reason I stayed at home on the weekend to watch top gear, he was *one of us* and not some slick twat who got every idea from a focus group. Yeah, no, as an entertainer he's great but the likes of Richard Dawkins, Hawking, Brian Cox and so on and so forth have done SO much more for science and public education and interest in science which leads to great progress. Speak for yourself. Maybe Clarkson represents how You talk and think - not me. He seems boorish and vulgar, and reminds me of an old employer who was convinced of his own brilliance because nobody ever told him no.
He wasn't cancelled, just sacked for punching a producer, then just switched to Prime and carried on doing the same thing, no biggie really, Jezza is just Jezza, he annoys some people but a lot of people also really like him, Clarkson's Farm is a lot of fun.
The really funny thing is the BBC tried to keep Top Gear going after sacking Clarkson and it died embarrassing quickly despite musical chairs for the presenters... The BBC just didn't understand what Top Gear was, and worse didn't understand why people were watching it...
The thing about Clarkson.. He was first hired to be a man's man.. to love gas powered cars with lots of power and style, someone who don't give a F about climate change or the environment or "wankers in electric vehicles" and so on.. That's the persona he was hired to be. And he was really good at it. And it was obvious to see that there was a huuuge audience that absolutely LOVED that persona (i call it a persona because it's a role.. sure, he shares alot of the views of the role, but in private he is not quite on the same level as his TV persona). As i said, he got hired to play this role, he got better and better at it, his audience loved him for it.. the more in your face he got, the more they loved him.. And suddenly, when BBC, who hired him to play the role in the first place, got PG like fuck, they suddenly turned around and punished him for playing the role they hired him to play.. To a point i don't doubt for a second that some of the "controversy" between him and the BBC wasn't planned.. but when he started going "too far", they tried cancelling him. Oh and the whole "throw manure at Markle while the people shouted "SHAME" thing.. that was taken straight from Game of Thrones.. so it's not necessarily that he had that as some weird fetish.. it was just what was on at the time.. people knew what he meant when he said it.. they could picture it in their minds.. which is probably why he said it like that.. But ofcourse the media focused on that specific act of throwing feces as if that was his personal preference.. Jeremy Clarkson made a career doing exactly what he was paid to do, and he only got cancelled when most people would concider retiring anyway.. It was all a game that some knowitalls didn't understand and thought was serious..
Is it a joke to punch the director of the show in the face because he couldn't get a steak after the kitchen had stopped serving ? If you think so, that's a terrible reflection on you.
A column by Jeremy Clarkson in the Sun - in which he wrote about the Duchess of Sussex being paraded naked in the street - was sexist, the press regulator has ruled. A record 25,000 people complained to Ipso, the Independent Press Standards Organisation, about the article. The imagery was "humiliating and degrading towards the duchess", Ipso chairman Lord Faulks said. Prince Harry and Meghan accused Clarkson of spreading "hate rhetoric". They added that the article, published by the Sun in December 2022, was also spreading "dangerous conspiracy theories and misogyny". Responding to the Ipso ruling the Sun said it "accepts that with free expression comes responsibility". The Sun and its columnist apologised for the column last December and removed the article from its website. However while it has said the column fell "short of its high editorial standards and should not have been published" it has not accepted that it breached the editor's code, saying concerns raised were a "matter of taste and judgement". Nevertheless after investigating the article, Ipso ruled the newspaper had indeed broken its editors' code of practice as the piece contained a "pejorative and prejudicial reference" to Meghan's sex. The watchdog rejected complaints that the piece was discriminatory on the grounds of race, inaccurate or sought to harass the duchess.
I am a former pupil of Repton School, where Jeremy Clarkson went. Smoking and drinking were common pastimes. I got a great education, but I hated that place. I was a military child, so not rich by any means, who spoke Welsh. I definitely did not fit in with the upper class, Tory-voting, rich kids.

There's a few factual errors in this. Clarkson left original Top Gear before it was cancelled (he found the original format limited him too much). James May was actually one of his replacements. The show lost 50% of its ratings without him and then got cancelled two years latter. Most of the cast (though not James May) went over to Channel 5 and launched the nearly identical 'Fifth Gear'. Clarkson and Wilman actually pitched a different show to Top Gear; the BBC decided that the new show would be named Top Gear, as they still published Top Gear Magazine which was selling well and reusing the name TG made sense commercially. Clarkson and Wilman's Top Gear(2002) is classed as a different show to the original Top Gear(1977) (it has very little in common) and Clarkson and Wilman owned the creators rights to the show (until they sold it on to the BBC for a premium)
Most reasonable Brits love Clarkson and totally get it. Harmless banter. Sadly we now live in such a sensitive PC culture where anyone can cry and moan like baby victims. Good to see you fellas!

"Last of the Summer Wine" was the longest-running British sitcom. It was set in Yorkshire and ran from 1973 to 2010. Clarkson referred to it because the main male characters are THREE GRUMPY OLD MAN.
He's not cancelled as he already has a show in the UK. He's just out of favour for a mainstream TV station like many other TV presenters who still think it's 1985. He's made a lot of money, now its time to let others gain the experience.

His comments about Meghan were perhaps slightly near the mark, but I just think it's funny because you know he doesn't mean it?? 😂😂
Season 2 of Clarkson's farm and the latest grand tour episode have both done extremely well. At the same time Harry and Megan seem to be less popular than ever and loosing their own contracts in Holywood. I dont think Amazon are ever going to drop him, they just had to say that at the time.
Articles just said it was to do with the comments but supposedly it is actually that the grand tour doesn't hit as big of a world wide audience as they were expecting, particularly in the US and he was too expensive to keep. So far as we know he's just filling out what's left on the contract. No idea if the farm is enough to change their mind.
'Hate' is a strong word. I enjoy Clarkson as an entertainer, but his politics, personality and love affair with controversy makes him incredibly divisive. For me, he represents an older, very well-off generation of private-schooled Tory climate change deniers that refused to acknowledge political correctness as a way of improving society rather than an attack on personal liberty. And frankly, in the UK reading the Daily Mail is a strong statement, let alone writing columns for it. He knows his audience, and he has always worked his audience like a genius. People of a certain age and political persuasion worshipped Clarkson's Top Gear as an Island of outdated, offensive and racist opinions in a sea of 'political correct loony lefties' on the BBC. James May summed it up in the intro for me, 'he's a knob but I quite like him.'
These guys do not hate each other at all. Close friends, especially in the UK, do this pretend disdain for each other - it is a man thing 😊I love you guys and subscribe to everything you do. Keep up the great work!

Clarkson is Clarkson, he will say things he doesn't really mean for a laugh. I think a lot of his fans pick up on the fact he is actually a nice guy who will say stupid things for effect.
And the double issue is that May and Hammond probs go with him again. Sure they probs won't make a new car show but their individual series are pretty much the reason I sub to Prime.
Hammond & May followed Clarkson when he was sacked from BBC. I don’t know anything about cars but I could listen to Hammond, Clarkson & May because they are so funny. The caravan thing here in the UK is an awful thing. It is not so much staying in the caravan it is the fact that you have to take it to a designated caravan site and those are like the bottom level of hell. There will be only 1 pub any where near it selling terrible food and maybe 1 small convenience store that will sell a limited variety of food you can cook yourself on a little gas stove that is just powerful enough to warm up some soup in just under 30 minutes. These sites will have a list of rules that are there just to make your vacation even more miserable. Rules like :- No ball games No music No noise from 10pm to 9am No pets No BBQs No cooking foods with a strong odour No alcohol No canopy attachments that blocks the sun for adjacent campers No inflatable pools No children under 5 No groups of young men (sometimes it's phrased as 'couples or families only') No flying toys That is why caravans are terrible. Then the media turned around and started reporting the same things he said.
Full circle. Jeremy has been controversial many times, but rarely wrong and certainly never hateful towards anyone that didn't personally deserve it.
@@laupstad For me its pretty normal to find that if I actually watched
ead the Clarkson controversy before the media storm I found it funny and could see that it was actually a joke.
I wish that would have been filmed! He would have been popular for that!

Jeremy is a national treasure, he just says what a lot of people are thinking.

@@miff227 Top Gear: More than 350 million people in almost every country watch the series.

Mr Clarkson did not punch the Director.

Clarkson and Wilman's Top Gear(2002) is classed as a different show to the original Top Gear(1977) (it has very little in common) and Clarkson and Wilman owned the creators rights to the show (until they sold it on to the BBC for a premium)
and who knows why they said the 2003 caravan piece was from 2010?

Top gear was the most watched factual show in the world back in Clarkson/Hammond/May days..
The Grand Tour smashed all Amazon Prime records at the time,
And Clarksons Farms is now Amazon Primes most successful original series ever made..
Seeing how hated Meghan Markle is and how successful Clarkson currently is, i dont think the vast majority of people care about a comment in a paper refrencing a scene from Game of Thrones.
Before Lamborghini built supercars they built Tractors and farm machinery.
Clarkson is Clarkson, he will say things he doesn't really mean for a laugh. I think a lot of his fans pick up on the fact he is actually a nice guy who will say stupid things for effect.
Who wouldn’t want to punch piers Morgan .
You can't cancel him, some other streaming site will pick him up. The number of viewers he brings with him speaks for itself.
I cancel Prime the day they stop making new Clarkson shows
And the double issue is that May and Hammond probs go with him again. Sure they probs won't make a new car show but their individual series are pretty much the reason I sub to Prime.
I'm a lorry driver and don't know any driver who was upset
You can't cancel Clarkson
Clarksons farm 3 is on its way as we speak
Hammond & May followed Clarkson when he was sacked from BBC. I don’t know anything about cars but I could listen to Hammond, Clarkson & May because they are so funny. Particularly loved on Amazon the episode on driving in France but watched Hammond & May competition of building Lego whilst drinking vodka. All three are so funny together.
I'm surprised that the punch that got him fired wasn't mentioned.
@ 1:06... Clarkson punched Morgan. Stories vary, but Morgan says "He punches like a girl", Clarkson says "Yes, but he had 4 stiches"... So.... draw what you will from that. If you land a four stich single punch... thats a pretty good punch as far as I am concerned...
Public opinion isn't turning against him. The media and politicians, sure, but who gives a rat's arse about that..
nice little summary! covered everything pretty much. the "furore" is riDICulous
I absolutely love these three i have a few t-shirts one with Carfellows on it, yeah iv'e had people stare at me but my thing is, you either love Jeremy or you don't and love him :)
The media don’t really like him because he’s a competitor… but articles about him are a cash cow for these rival media outlets. In the one week after his sacking, while no one knew a single fact about what happened, one newspaper website had over 60 different articles/ pages about the man. On each page that mentioned Jeremy Clarkson, a massive high value, dynamic advert was extremely prominent. His controversy makes rival media outlets a fortune.
guys a legend i my eyes, top gear aired in 75 countries, not just the three, how many others made good money,
does he over step the mark, yes he does, he is an eglishman, says what he feels.
the grandtour, another success
his farm, it started through the pandemic, then got onto TV,
he is facing opposition because of his farms success, but he want to help others farmers, through his shop, resturant to only use
selling his own beers, people are earning through hard times,
local farmers produce, he selling his meat at a loss in the resturant, caters for kids families
wonderful names for his produce
cow juice=milk
bee juice = honey
people dont like success
His mum Shirley was the real identity. She made the original stuffed Padington bears for Hamleys toyshop on Regent St in London. He just rode those coat tails and discovered that saying outlandish stuff creating controversy got great publicity. He will always be a bit of a wanker in public but is actually a decent person. I’m sure this opinion will be controversial but it is true! Edit. Should’ve watched the whole video before posting this! Second edit. This goes for over an hour! 1: I love your take on this subject. 2: He is an absolute monster. 3: I feel the man himself would love this attention.
Look it is very simple, a minority of people complain and always less than 1%, well 'Whoopee DO!' The majority of us like the programme and are not complaining. So how about the 99% of us who like the programme just tell the 1% to shut up!
Rules like :-
No ball games
No music
No noise from 10pm to 9am
No pets
No BBQs
No cooking foods with a strong odour
No alcohol
No canopy attachments that blocks the sun for adjacent campers
No inflatable pools
No children under 5
No groups of young men (sometimes it's phrased as 'couples or families only')
No flying toys
That is why caravans are terrible. They are for people who think beige is a nice colour. They are for the most bland kind of people. The kind of folks that put water on cereals instead of milk, read magazines about vinyl flooring, collect stamps, go trainspotting.
The sad thing is, I'm not exaggerating...
Actually, trainspotters aren't sad enough to go caravanning. Trainspotting really is one of the most misunderstood hobbies.
