Unfortunately, if we get the Depths, we don't have the mana to cast Magus off of it because it doesn't tap for mana. I had to play my mountain from hand to have enough mana to play magus and crack the map.
Another guy just said in the comment section, Torch the Tower is just better than Betrayers Bargain as an enabler. You can either Bargain the moon or shock the Magnus itself. You still need a permanent to hit with the bolt, but the current choice also has this problem. Nice content btw, thanks for the video!!
In round 2 game 2, i was wondering why you exiled the spirit guide turn 1 to play the moon effect? Why not imprint the spirit effect in the chrome mox and then with the same amount of mana play the moon effect.
@crucible_of_words ok, i thought maybe there was an idea behind, for an example expected destruction spell or something. Thanks for the great and fun content. I ordered all the cards I missed for this deck. Looks like a fun deck to play.
Why the two cost burn spell instead of the one cost spell with bargain? You can sac enchantments with bargain, and you could just target the magus to get rid of it
@@ericdaniello5659 they can counterspell if I target the Magus, the additional cost is something they can't interact with. It also has mana value 2 so dodges chalice with the edict gets hit by chalice, so I tried to spread my mana costs. Could be wrong and I did mention the bargain card a bit in the video at some point as an option
@ thanks for the reply I did hear you mention that after I already had posted. I think your points about abusing the fact that paying a cost is uncounterable and dodging chalice are well founded when I think about it
@@crucible_of_words I kinda still like Torch the Tower more as well, because it can either bargain the Blood Moon away or just be pointed at Magus. And adding some cheap removal might help with some of the matchups. But all in all certainly not a deck that needs to or can be optimized anyway as it just for fun and giggles :D I had a ton of fun watching so thanks for that!
yeeess! I saw Matt Nass play this deck many years ago! it's a lot of fun
This deck is sooo freaking sweet. Really creative DD list man
The (intentional) Chalice check gave me a solid chuckle lol
I fricking love this idea, subbed kind sir!
I really like your deck. There is something... pure... about mono red.
i'm so glad to see telimtor's edict do literally anything lmfao
edit: i guess i meant "the idea of telimtor's edict", no casts in 5 games. dang.
I did cast it! Just to cantrip... If you watch the video from last year linked the description, there's a lot more edict action for you
I’ve considered using it in Parallax Tide / Wave lists in premodern. Nothing brewed up yet though.
9:38 I think if you sequence the search off map before magus you can get depths and force them to leave the magus in play or give you a Marit Lage.

@@crucible_of_wordsah totally missed that. 😅
I hope this takes off. Got my Telim Tors Edicts tucked away in a binder, waiting for their moment to shine ;)

This is such a different take from the norm. I love this!

Good question

@kevinkeijzer6349 it was juggling between keeping mana back for next time and stuff.

SPICE
Torch the tower probably better than telim tor verdict - or put in smokestack
Torch the tower needs a target, so I'm less on that one tbh

10 moon because all the homies hate eldrazi and fleshraker combo
Claws of gix might've been usefull as a karn target to make dark depths! (Edit: it's in there am dumb)
Instead of calling it Mono Red Depths, just Red Depths, it's cleaner. Could also call it Blood Depths or Moon Depths.
Sure, why not :) I chose Mono-red for each of finding it in search, but your name is better
