I used to repair people's electronics in the Hollywood area back in the 80s and actually had a friend who worked, occasionally, for Ms. Lawrence and I had the amazing and wonderful opportunity to go up to her lovely home in the Hollywood Hills, at the time, and do some repairs on some of her electronics. She was EXTREMELY gracious and elegant, even to a "commoner" such as myself. I am honored to have met her and worked with (well… for) her!
Jack Clark was wonderful. Very pleasant voice!
Jack Clark was top notch. There are some videos posted when he filled in as host of the original Price is Right.
Carol Lawrence. Looks very beautiful..and is very excited to play password...
I love how 'stars' were more like real people then...we just hadn't idolized celebrity so very much like there. I would wager that for most it was a better life for them as well!
I often wonder how much the celebrities were paid. Although they were getting publicity for their latest ventures, I doubt if they appeared for free.
I was disappointed when I heard Allen Ludden was on vacation, but Jack Clark did a marvelous job!
Carol Lawrence was stunning.
She is now 89 years old. I just looked it up. Nice to know ! Blessings from California. 🦋
she really was....a total doll
I enjoyed watching Jack Clark as host for the first time! Allen was on vacation to do Critic's Choice. It was during this time that his relationship with Betty White started to bloom!
Aww 🥰
How do you know?
Did he even KNOW Betty White at this time?
I thought he said (or I heard it somewhere) that they didn't even MEET until she came on the show
@@KristaBrewer-rq7mo according to Allen's Wikipedia page, they met on Password but later grew closer doing Critic's Choice together.
That Jack Clark is smooth.
Just commenting on these videos of Password for the first time after watching countless episodes on YuTbe. I love the show, especially Betty White and Carol Burnett! Too bad there isn't something like this show nowadays.
Avoid the current version that debuted this month. It plays like a hysterical comedy show. I gave up after five minutes.
@@ChrisHansonCanada You mean the Jimmy Fallon ego hour?
Didn't realize that this was Jack's debut on nighttime Password until he mentioned it at the end.
This was a well played game!
I know they are a bit lenient on the lightning round, but I'm not sure if the Rose Bowl parade was quite as popular in 1962 as it was in the later 60s when I remember seeing it on TV as a kid (I think it was broadcast nationally on New Year's day?). So, "Rose Bowl" for Parade I think could have worked in the lightning round (maybe not in the regular game because Rose Bowl might have been considered two words).
unconditional for surrender was an outstanding clue!!!
Carol has a wonderful laugh 😂
Florence Henderson was great on Password. Great seeing her years before the Brady Bunch.
Barry Nelson was simply a great actor and the guy's sense of humor was outstanding, however when he used "Shanghai" as a clue for "gesture" he was throwing a hail mary. "Shanghai Gesture" was a 1941 Hollywood movie that its hard to imagine many in 1962 remembered or ever knew.
Barry Gorgeous Nelson!
Although I think "Poll" and maybe "Survey" would be good clues for "Opinion" but maybe my favorite word (potentially even as a first clue?) Would be "Viewpoint."
Jack Clark was a very underrated host.
Jack Clark is Filling In For Allen Ludden
Really?
Frank Wayne is Filling In For Jack Clark
Sue Clark was not only cute but very bright. "Editorial" for "Opinion" probably would have gotten 10 points.
Belief.
That is weird that for buggy the male contestant said carousel 🎠. Maybe he was trying to come up with carriage. 🦋
Allen Ludden's the best game show host ever! but on all (or many) of his episodes, I also find him a little bit rude to the celebrities/contestants. Jack Clark was good.
barry nelson from password to the shining :)
I have a feeling had someone use the clue "highly" it may have lead to solving skill
Was the host James Drury
How the hell did that guy guess SURRENDER with the clue UNCONDITIONAL? My response would have been LOVE, but I guess I'm just a hopeless romantic.
Unconditional surrender is a pretty common phrase in history. Ulysses S. Grant had the nickname "Unconditional Surrender" Grant because he used that phrase in demanding the surrender of Fort Donelson.
I'd say the strangest (and respectfully, most disconcerting, for lack of a better word) aspect of this AMAZINGLY great show is that referee whistle signifying that time is up! One of the silliest (and respectfully, oddest) decisions ever made, I feel, in forming a game show for TV. Maybe a nice dong tone might have been more appropriate?
Most disconcerting is when Lud interrupts every episode to repeat the part about when you hear this sound it's because the clue wasn't accepted blah blah Reason A. Goodwin. Because when a clue isn't accepted, we don't need the sound because Lud immediately is yelling about it, drowning out the sound.
@@sharksport01 agree with you that I do a fairly good job almost always fast forwarding through that part so I can avoid having to deal with that - I totally agree with you that it's annoying :-)
Looking for August 2, 1962. It is one you skipped.
Sorry that's one I don't have
