RIP, Inga Swenson (1933-2023). Those who only know her from "Benson" never got to appreciate what a beautiful Broadway singing voice she had in both "Baker Street" and "110 In The Shade."
She was such a sweet and kind lady, and very talented. She actually DID sing at least once on Benson, where we got to hear her sing "In the Still of the Night". What a beautiful voice.
Blimey ! Had NO idea the distinguished British born actor James Mason had ever appeared on a TV game show. Before now I was only familiar with the lovely & charming Inga from her role on the 80s TV sitcom "Benson". Thanks VERY much for uploading this bodacious "blast from the past".
Miss Swenson a couple of years before this was a supporting actress who worked along side Bancroft and Duke in the 1962 movie The Miracle Worker . All three ladies on Broadway .
Always have wondered how lightning round words loaded...were there people under the desks??..remember that things weren't computerized in those days...

She also appeared on several episodes of Benson’s first show ‘Soap’.

Makes a great appearance with Jane Fonda too
What a(n) Absolutely GORGEOUS Timbre, and Inflection of Voice(!)😍😊☺️😊🎨
Inga was Ben Cartwright’s second wife on Bonanza.
Yep and Hoss’s mother.
Inga is such a beautiful lady.
She's no Hope Emerson but she's indeed one fetching lass !
@@jubalcalif9100 She does not need to be anyone else.
Little Did Inga know That Sweedish Accent would be her bread and Butter in the 80's! SOAP, BENSON etc.
xenafan234 I believe Kraus (on Benson) was German.
On Benson she was German on Soap she was Swedish.

In a 1989 episode of The Golden Girls, Inga played Rose’s (Betty White) sister Holly.
She also plays as Kraus on Benson.
This is 1965. What to you think about this video?
I didn’t know that! Interesting.
Unfortunately James Mason never won the Oscar.
Lee Vines takes over as announcer with this episode.
You know, I’d love to see this show come back. But I’m afraid of what kind of reflection it would be on our present day society & our vocabulary……
I would've used kerosene for lantern, all around excellent game, thanks so much for the uploads
“Pioneer”????
I was thinking "jack" for jack-o'-lantern, haha
LAMP + CAMPING
It is always interesting to see how acquainted a visitor or transplant from the Old World is to animals found only in the New World, e.g., skunk.
James Mason was born in Huddersfield, England.

I'd guess they had a system of cables (or strings) and pullies. The cables would lead backstage behind the set where someone operated them.
Good question
I'm impressed that the celebrities knew the Biblical account of Eve and Satan. How times are changing!
You're so right ✅!
Isn’t “no-cal” basically a form of the word calorie?
petulia67 And two words at that.
No-Cal doesn't contain calorie--but it is hyphenated.
I think that should have not been accepted, but they let it go anyway...
I keep thinking of Humboldt Humboldt
I would think so
Inga was beautiful
Inga Swenson (December 29, 1932 - July 23, 2023)
No one thinks of Revere for lantern
I surely wouldn't have, either, lol
I was thinking “pioneer”….
I was thinking of that or Miner, kerosene, nightlight
not for first word, perhaps 2nd clue following lamp. How about Camping + lamp?
Coleman.
Jack.
I can't figure why no one ever gave polecat as a clue for skunk.
15:35
"Grass"
"Hemp?"
Is she thinking what I'm thinking?
Hahaha
LAMP + CAMPING = LANTERN
Some celebrities function immensely better with scripts.
I would have said "mosca" for fly, but i doubt that it's legal.
I think it is. They would give clues in French
what, no consolation? no encyclopedia or $50, they just get squat for appearing?,
So glad that horrible accent was fake.
Inga Swenson & James Mason, probably the worst 2 celebrity players.
I agree.
I have seen James with Jane Fonda in the early 60s where he is excellent!
The lightening round words were hard for James not his fault IMO
Certain words are tough to get on the first clue
Some of the words in this game were hard.
