This was a country song telling the story of “the crossroads” and those being prevalent in southern mythology. He wrote it about Robert Johnson the blues guitar pioneer that supposedly sold his soul to the devil to learn to play the guitar. One of the first Rolling Stones big hits was a cover of a Robert Johnson song. Colter Wall’s song Kate McCannon is a good one to react to. I like a lot of his newer stuff though. He has grown into his voice and become smoother like a fine whiskey.

Devil Wears a Suit and Tie is such a great one to start with when you first find Colter, because there's all this great guitar/kick drum lead up and you get like "yeah this is cool" and then there's that perfect pause before he says "Well..." and the shock of hearing that voice for the first time is goosebumps every single time.

If you liked Chris Stapleton’s stuff, he was in a bluegrass(a more classical type of country, that comes from the Appalachian mountains(it’s pronounced app-uh-latch-in, btw, every one else is wrong)) band called ‘The Steeldrivers’. The two best songs, IMO, are ‘Sticks That Made Thunder’ (a song about a Civil War battle from the perspective of a nearby tree) and ‘Can You Run’ (which is a song about a slave making a break for freedom in Union(the North’s) territory, the morning of a nearby battle). Both fantastic songs that show case different aspects of Chris’ voice, and “vibes” that might tickle your fancy. If those aren’t your fans, two other ones are ‘Ghost of Mississippi’ (an encounter with the Devil/Ghost of Mississippi) and ‘Where Rainbows Never Die’ (a story of an old man, about what it’s like to cross over into Heaven). These two song also showcase a different tone and emotion, and I struggle not to cry listening to ‘Where Rainbows Never Die’.
    Cheers, and happy listening!

Colter's a Canadian from up in Saskatchewan Canada. Which is a lot like Montana - great plains, big sky country.

Fella I worked with would play Colter's songs, I thought he was like 60 sumthin, when I told him "Glad that old country cat that's been around finally got discovered" he just laughed and said "Nah man, he's like in his early 20's dude" and showed me this vid, I was knocked off my horse haha

As a country boy from America who's lived in London for 5 years, yalls reactions to great country always made me smile. Get the F put of the city and go explore the Southern states. Not for ya to review but listen to "Fishing in the dark"

You should try a gentlemen who played in every dive in the world before he made it. He is country but he also has a soulful voice. His name is Chris Stapelton. You could watch a live performance of, I was wrong. Excellent.

For your second country song, you picked a great one!!! Colter isn't mainstream at all, so he's not very well known, and most his videos have less than 100k views. This and Kate McKinnon are his two biggest hits. Super cool that you reviewed a dude like this. He is so talented.

I don't think you will see it now, but I recommend: Townes Van Zandt - Waitin´ Around to Die, and No Place to Fall.
Townes is a great folk/country musician with a tragic life story, he had bipolar disorder and suffered from drug addictions and alcoholism. He is very influential but was not very successful or well know. He was covered by many artists between them Bob Dylan and even Colter Wall.
Waitin' Around to Die and No Place to Fall are two of my all time favorite songs, the first one is more tragic and the second one is a sad romantic ballad.

"The Devil Went Down to Georgia" is a classic song too, and it has been covered so many times... I'd suggest Nickelback's version, recently launched and surprisingly awesome! Primus and Korn versions are also good options

Colter is actually outlaw country and western music. Alone with Tyler Childers, Benjamin Tod and, Serria Ferrell , there is a ton of talent that many don’t know about.
