You are absolutely right. Chris Stapleton is a mystery discovering. He is one of the best artists on the planet. He could do probably any style short of Oprah. I’ve seen him cover old old country songs, to prince. He could cover Nirvana and then go right into the most riveting bluegrass you’ve ever heard. Check out his stuff from The Steeledrivers before he was famous. He was the lead singer for that group for many years and their martial is so well done. One of the best musical gifts we have right now

Colter Wall, Tyler Childers, Chris Stapleton, Cody Jinks, Creed Fisher, Chris Knight, The Band, Benjamin Tod and The Lost Dog Street Band, Sturgill Simpson, Jamey Johnson, the list goes on and on. Some of the best songwriting and storytelling you'll ever hear, all of them throwing a middle finger to Nashville and their pop/hip hop influenced sellouts is a plus in my book as well. These guys are sticking to their country roots and its a damn good thing in my opinion.

Check out Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, especially off of the album Southeastern. He doesn't have the pipes of Stapleton (who does?) but he is a great guitar player and his songwriting is some of the best around. Plus his wife plays a killer fiddle.
