The trials and tribulations of owning an older classic actually make for an interesting vid. I fancy owning an older bike but patience and time are required in ownership.
Do it. Buy one that you always fancied in your youth. Just know that no matter its condition, it will need more maintenance than the newer bikes. But enjoy it for what it is and they can bring a big grin to your face.
Working on one now. Came as a basket. Was a girl's bike painted pink and purple and parts were in purple bins. Seems to be all here so likely gonna restore it to original. This is my 2nd GPz and I agree, they are very decent daily riders and an all around versatile machine. Check those float levels Matt if you haven't already. On startup it helps having the levels to spec.
I bought the same model 1994 VFR750 from when I was young 20 years later. I totally get it lol I loved it too. The second time around it was a little tired and had a few fairing and other issues but I didn’t care.
@@RoadsOfOz I sold it 10 years ago along with my K1300s when I lost my licence for the second time instantly ie riding to quick... As Lou Costello used to say "I was bad boy....". I started riding again this time around because the consequences aren't so dire but I am more wary these days - or maybe I should say I try to be more wary...
Hi, I have old kwakas, and what I have found is corrosion and bad connection's can cause alot of problems, so I went through my bikes wiring connection's, cleaned and coated connection's with dielectric grease, addressed the problem on my bike. Have fun😊
IMO, it is highly collectible, and GPZs are at the top of my desirable status. Others I prize are Buells, H-D Street Bob's and Road Glides. My daily is a 2009 Concours C14 ABS model. My first was a 1984 GPZ 550, in silver red and blue. As so many others, the movie Top Gun was a big influence on my personal choice at that time. The sleek fairing GPZs are timeless, sexy, art, and I will own another. Thanks for sharing.
It sucks when plans become difficult to achieve, but like you said... it is better to have fun with what we do, so as long as you are, it makes no odds you weren't able to get out on it every day! :-)
The old bike is tired, but still willing to take you for a ride....I don't know if that came out right 🤔Yes, enjoy it. Good one, Matt. Ride well. Cheers

Awesome Matt - old faithful still got it!
It is still a fun bike to ride. Faults and all.

Thanks for the tip.
Let us know how your resto progresses.
Happy birthday for May my friend!
Great log of the bike, I guess we all have intentions but plus side she lives!!!!!
Thank you. As long as it is running well enough to ride, I dont mind minor issues. Will start sorting through them eventually.
Older bikes have character and if it makes you happy that's all that matters 👌
100% mate. Motorcycling is about what makes you happy.

I agree with you. I was not after pristine. Just after one I could ride and riminess with. Do you still have the VFR?

You know my thoughts on the old girls ❤️
Old bikes can be fun.
Absolutely awesome mate l had a Gpz 750 back in the day and loved it great bike injoy hay 👍🏍
Will do. There will be more videos of the GPz in the not too distant future.
I like the GPZs, and good on you
I like older bikes as well
They are a very retro 80's looking bike. Made when manufacturers were trying to be different to each other while still trying to create the best bike.
I'm with you Matty, I don't care about growth anymore, if it's not fun I wont make it, my new rule
Their value cannot be beat. If you ride these bikes with the right attitude, they are alot of fun for not much money at all.

I like the GPz shape too. Also I had one when I was 18, so it could be a case of mid life crisis purchase.
I would love to own a Buell XB9R Lightning.
Electrical problems or ignition problems can be really annoying sometimes. I hope that you are gonna solve it Matt. Take care bro.
It is running fine. So there is no rush to sort out these minor issues. But I dont mind electrical challenges.
@@RoadsOfOz So, there will some how to videos also. :)
I’ve really gotta get mine back on the road. Hopefully Gos (Gosling1/Bubba Zanetti from KSRC) will get his hands on it soon.
Hope you get it on the road soon.
On a side note. Love your channel, Seeing an Amstrad bought back memories (mine had a cassette drive).

One of my happier fails doing stuff. Might try again in the warmer spring months.
🤩🇺🇸👍⚖️👁️👁️⚖️🇯🇵🏁🏁🏁🏁Got an 84! Mothballed since 94. Retirement trophy project next year! Keep riding! All the best!
Let us know how you go with the restoration.
@@RoadsOfOz I'm going to rotate pistons within next couple of weeks. Put marvel mystery in plug holes back in 94. Needs lots of love!👍🇯🇵🏁

They just need a little more care these days.
Good on you Matt, keep enjoying 😎🤙🏻
Will do. Was almost tempted to ride this down to Tassie in February. But common sense has taken over.
Have you still got the Griso ?
Yes. It is getting some bodywork done.
If I leave my gpz for a week it'll start first go. Do you run a cold or hot plug? Half the battle is getting the fuel and plugs right
