Pillion Report on BMW R1250GS
You see on alot of motorcycle reviews, that pillion experience is glossed over or not covered at all. Well I thought why not get a perspective from someone who has been a passenger on the bike.
Big thanks to Tori Addamss for not only being on the channel, but agreeing to be a pillion on the BMW R1250GS. You can find Tori's Instagram page here:

Lake Lyell to Oconnel Pub. Great Ride.....Terrible road
There have been people on RUclips transposing the F - type ECU , to get 1,000 RPM extra and the slightly higher top speed and power / output that comes with it . Engine lifespan is slightly less with this setup however . My automotive engineer has done a lot of experimentation and engine modifications for gains with these . The E is 8k rpm and the F is 9k rpm "oscilliscope measured" . Dynamometer videos need to be treated with caution due to pre - test calibration capabilities in the software .
Electronic test instrument cable from Jaycar Electronics .
I’ve the same. Half power, oil in just the right exhaust. Q is, did things have to go this far? Maybe I can just pull that front head, swap a valve seal or gasket? The idea that my Darmah would be in limbo for what are you going on for now, 4 years!? Nightmare.
No reverse?
What a awesome tourer. Really like the Darkhorse also. Ice cream for lunch Matty? Nice.
Having changed from a Harley Davidson tourer, my wife says that although the GS is a comfortable place, she is very cramped and has almost zero visibility 😢
Hear that regularly. Those Harley tourers are brilliant two up machines. Do you have a top box with a back rest on it for her?
She has a nice helmet. :) Interesting video. Her father had a URAL probably. Got my like Matt.
Thanks mate. Would like to do more videos like this.
@@RoadsOfOz Will watch bro. :)
A very nice bike overall. Those who like the combination of old and new will like it a lot. Seems to be heavy, but this is part of the game. I enjoyed. Cheers.
It is a heavy bike. But so comfortable.
@@RoadsOfOz I believe you. Can can check my community tab, today I will have another Bike discussion video. :) Cheers.
Looks very attractive. It is a modern cruiser with the right touch of style from the past. Like it a lot. Well done review Matt. Drop by to check my community tab when you can. Cheers.
Thanks for that. Will be watching alot of videos soon.
@@RoadsOfOz Oh, yeah. Feel free Matt, whenever. :)
I use my phone as a dashcam (my phone camera quality is far better than dashcams) so i was wondering how solid is the arm that extends out from the suction cup? My current dash mount vibrates and wobbles too much and makes the video shacky. I'm looking for something far more rigid.
I tried something similar, but the suction cap obscures too much of the camera.
My 17 year son old still said the bike that he found most comfortable to pillion on was my R1200R. Great idea getting a pillions perspective
Thanks for that. Hoping to do more videos getting Passengers thoughts on their experience on the back of the bike.
Recently purchased this model as a bit of a project your comments on the front tires and the front fork issues is valuable info thank you
No worries. I am in the process of getting the front forks rebuilt. Also adding an anti dive bypass kit.
Great format Matt.
Thanks mate. something a bit different for my channel.
Looks like a comfy tourer for two, just built for it.
Very comfy bike. Good to hear that a pillion thinks the same thing.
There are those who are excited to be on the back, and others who would be shit scared. Must be confronting for those who are intimidated.
I’ve been on the back of this bike. No fear with Matt riding.
Thanks mate. you are too kind.
Absolutely. You put alot of trust in the rider. I am very grateful that Tori was happy to be a passenger for this video.
Nice review, having previuosly owned 2 x Gen 2 and 2 x Gen 1 Tuono's, and having just purchased a 2002 RSV Mille similar to the Silver one in your post, right down to the twin pipe exhaust, i'd agree with most of what you say on the electrics, the rear brake is a known issue and relatively easy fix, reverse bleeding it helps, that's both Gen 1 and 2's it's the master cyclindar location, poor thing cooks. I must confess surprise about the comment on insurance tho, they are 20+ year old bike and eligible for Classic Insurance (15 Years+) with the NRMA subject to some basic criteria, full Comprehesive is around the $200 mark for 12 months. They truly can be a love/hate bike, particularly the Gen 2, with dodgy wiring to the ignition switch, and the immobiliser system. Aside from all that thanks for the review.
I will have to check out NRMA classic insurance. Thanks for the tip.
Top review mate. They're a great bike. I wonder if the throttle response is still common with a big delay between opening the throttle and the engine deciding it's time to go. That was my experience with Indian baggers.
Yeah, I did like this bike. I didn't notice the throttle being too laggy on this bike.
What a great breakdown of the review. I appreciate you sharing the good and the bad. You know? I have never riding any modern Indian. Great job, Matt, As always.
Thanks Eric. I enjoyed riding the Roadmaster. Definitely one to consider if you are after a full on touring motorcycle.
Hello sir, great video! I am trying to decide between the easy rack and the alu rack. I do not really care about the foldable hinge. I want the most rigid system. Is the alu rack completely aluminum (apart from the plastic inserts)?
Greeting from the UK. I've just put one of these GPZs back onto the road in Sept 24. I've owned it since New in 85 but in the usual way of things life got in the way and it's been in the Shed for the last 15 years! It's running OK but as you say it's an Old bike and there's a few bits that need sorting, so your videos are really interesting. Cheers!
Thanks for that. It is great to hear that you have put your bike back on the road. Especially after a 15 year hiatus. I will have more videos coming. The front suspension is what I am currently trying to sort out.
What a great looking bagger Matty
It was mate. Very impressed.
I’d feel like a fraud with the 1901 badge on the side. There’s a big difference between building bikes since 1900 and just building bikes for 40 years as you resurrected the name. Just my thoughts.
Alot of manufacturers do this. Triumph comes to mind. Personally, I don't see what value it has. Most of the companies are very different businesses to what they were when they started out. Even Harley Davidson has gone through significant changes since its creation.
Mate it looks bloody comfy sounds tough too great review matt cheers
It was very comfy. Could of happily done the 2024 Tassie tour on this.
Needs knobbies.
Great video well thought out and useful information. I ride a BMW K1600GTL and I know how heavy it gets in carparks. One positive about the GTL is that it has reverse gear. Once again great video and stay upright
Reverse gear would have been handy on the Roadmaster. Got to love BMW, they think of just about everything. Their tourers are amazing.
Beast of a bike. That cable looked tidy. Great seeing you tonight.
It is mate. Was very impressed. Cable is tidy, now for the rest of the garage.
@ hahahaha.
Nice review mate 😎✌🏻
Thanks Bert. Always enjoy riding something different. We are spoilt for choice here in Australia.
Nice bike Matt , I always see those bikes as Wally
yes, Chris and her adventures has left quite the impression on the RUclips community.
Absolutely hate their bug eye gauges… just my opinion!
Can see them being all TFT in the future. Anaolg guages will be a thing of the past soon.
they are the best !
Agree Chris. Can see why you purchased Wally. I would have one in my garage.
Thank you.
You are welcome.
Bikers need bikes, not Laptops.
Absolutely..... But sometimes we need laptops for work. Riding there is alot more fun.
@RoadsOfOz I meant that BS techloaded bikes.
Very cool video on the bike and a fair review as well. nicely made video indeed.
Thanks mate. Appreciate it.
Got one after watching this… it slips. Any advice?
Make sure that your grips are between the size specifications set out on the fitting instructions. If your hand grips ar smaller it will likely slip.
That's a real nice dash. Keyless ignition sounds great. Built-in USB plug is great - I hate messing with the electronics on a bike. I rode a.. 2023 Scout 60 bagger just recently - fantastic bike and I enjoyed it greatly and it's a very capable bike, but it was a smidge too small for me and I'm average height.. I don't know how you did it at your towering height..! Enjoyed this video, cheers!
The reach to both the bars and the footpegs on the Bobber model are quite a reach compared to the other models. The lower seat height also makes it look smaller than the bike physically is.
Great review Matty 😊
Thank you. Riding different bikes is a bit of fun for me.
IMO ... The new Scout has got that fuel tank rake (or lack of rake) that likely killed those Indian (as in the country) made water cooled, small displacemt Harleys of a few years back.
I think the tank is the size it is for aesthetic purposes. Keeps the bike looking sleek. It is a shame that the Super scout (more of a touring model) did not have a larger capacity tank. But again, I think it was aesthetics restricting the tank size. I think those Harley models were killed off due to poor sales ( but they were a hit here in Australia).
Great review mate 👏🏻
Thanks Bert.
Excellent review mate, enjoyed. And I do like the Indian bikes, especially the scout
Thanks for that. I have ridden a few Indian motorcycles now. All of them have impressed me.
Nice one Matt, that bike looks the goods
Thanks Frank. The bike was very impressive.
They do look nice Matt, not my style though but that is just me.
Nev, it is a good thing that we all have different tastes in motorcycles. My taste has definitely changed over the last decade that is for sure.
1. FFS, tuck your shirt in! 😂 2. Tidy up that red cable in the garage! 😂 3. Very good review 4. Yeah, nah to the bike! 😉
@@HarleyThrottleJuice 1. Not a fashion show 😉 2. Was waiting to see who would comment first on that. It should make electricians (or people with OCD) cry. 😆😆😆 3. Thanks
Top review mate. You covered everything without any fluff and bullshit.
Thanks Stef. I try to keep it relevant and entertaining. But I dont mind a bit of bullshit creeping in.
51mm of travel doesn’t seem anywhere near enough for a rear shock, interesting choice by Indian.
The 51mm shock is only on the bobber range. The other Scout range have 76mm.
I ride one... it's ok 😊
That radiator does look better and personally not a massive fan of matte colours, but the red on that looks the goods.
Not a fan of Matte black on bikes. It always seems to age the bike poorly.
Love the old scout Bobber, keen to have a crack on the new model…but agree, should be some great deals on the older versions.
Look forward to seeing what you think of the 2025 range.
Comfort is definitely important.
Especially the older you get.
@@RoadsOfOz Don’t know what you are talking about.
They look awesome
I Love the sleek look of the Scout Bobber too.
No matter how sturdy your crash bars they still won't always protect your cylinder heads from rocks in an off-road tip over. The best protective combo includes Machine Art X-heads, then you can use almost any crash bars by using Wunderlich's extension kit basically, four bolts (different lengths x 2) and four extension sleeves (two lengths) , which provide clearance for tighter crash bars. ruclips.net/video/I1w5hz9eR9w/видео.html
