A quick google search will show Range Rover’s reliabilty score. Still such an iconic looking vehicle- shame current models haven’t lived up to its predecessors.
?? I would assume if you didn't care about tech and infotainment, you would buy a 2010 LX570 or something. Using that excuse for a 2020 MY car doesn't work. Look at Nissan. That 370Z has been the same, with no updates whatsoever, since 2009 and they're still selling it in 2020. They're just piling up at dealers because why would anyone spend $40k on a 2020 370Z when they could get a 2013 one for much cheaper and it be literally the exact same car. Yes reliability is a big plus, but when people want to buy luxury, they would also expect some decent tech and infotainment stuff nowadays that is somewhat up to date.
@@LimiitedChans I think your missing a huge point. People that buy these also typically have another less reliable car in the garage also. The people that buy these really can literally afford not to care about those little issues. What they need is dependability in everyway. Used brings up too many issues with titles, mileage etc. If you can afford to not care, you buy a new one that was yours from the ground up.
The reason the LX 570 sells better than Landcruiser is because the Landcruiser cost way too much for a TOYOTA badge. For about $10,000 more you can get into a LX570. Most people who could afford a Landcruiser can also afford an LX570 so its a no brainer to get the more Luxurious version of the same SUV. If they made the Landcruiser $20,000 less it may be affordable for the mainstream.
It's the same reason why the ES 350 sells significantly more than the Avalon. If you're already looking at a $40,000+ large sedan, you might as well be looking at the ES for the Lexus badge, interior, benefits, and service experience.
Plus let’s be honest... the VAST MAJORITY of people at these price points looking at these options have NO INTENTION of off roading them so there’s almost no reason for most customers to chose a land cruiser over the Lexus.
@@robertburton8055 exactly my uncle own a 2017 Lexus LX 570, and that SUV have never been off road beside a few unpaved Camp trail that even a Honda Civic to make it through.
The problem with the Lexus is the higher depreciation. I would only buy the LX used but am considering a new LC. Also I completely intend to take either off road, not rock crawling but will not spend its entire life on road. Low mileage 2016 go for roughly the same price and are nearly identical to brand new.

@@kenedtsu So naive, so foolish. $100k is just the initial sales price. The cost of insurance for a $100k SUV will be notably higher (in the thousands per year) than my crossover of choice, the Highlander. US department of energy estimates 5 year fuel costs for the Land Cruiser at $6k more than an average vehicle (based on 27 mpg). The Highlander is $1k more. The Highlander features a buttery smooth powertrain and ride, a proven V6 and a competent 8 speed. It'll easily reach 15 years of use and use $15000 less worth of gas, at which point you can spend another $15,000ish for a new Highlander that'll last another 15+ years. I won't keep boring you with the details but let's get down to it. You don't need a Land Cruiser or LX 570 for longevity. Anyone who says that is focusing too much on history and not enough on reality.
He says if you spend a lot of money, you don’t want to keep something for a long time. Unfortunately that is a new age mentality. In old days, you spent a lot of money to keep something around long term so you don’t have to replace it so often.
Great machine. It's like a Rolex, simple, durable, reliable, timeless, retains its value. Sure you have fancy IWC's, Cartiers, Panerais but hard to beat a Rolex. Hard to beat LC/LX. Besides the fuel economy I hope they don't change a thing. I don't want any cheap/cartoonish digital gauges in there that will break and look stupid in 2 years.
Hello redline, 2 corrections; minutes 5:09 it's easy access option, if you push it, it will lower the car when put it in park and take off the sit belt. Second, it's not air suspension, it's hydraulic suspension. Enjoyed your video. 👍
In Saudi Arabia we buy it because its warranty wich is 5 years and open kilometers means unlimeted miles and its off road capabilities also resale value is very high
I’m not into off roading so if I had the money for one of these, I’d probably just buy a new Navigator Black Label. Probably the best luxury SUV you could get in America for around $100k.
So often people criticize these SUV for not having the newest wiz bang features or plastics that aren’t soft touch in the bottom of the doors. What people seem to forget is these SUVs cost comes from Toyota building these to the a standard we no longer see in the car industry. The land cruiser and the LX will last you 25 years. And for the buyers of these cars that’s what matters most.
The target market of the LX are luxury buyers, and most of them aren't going keep it for 25 years. Its not going to do the first buyer much if he's only leasing it. For the used car buyer, yeah, it is a forever vehicle.
I love this truck. Looks very much like an Elven Lord's ride from Lord of the Rings. To me it has a LOT more character than it's rivals from BMW and Benz.
I just picked up my 2nd LX570. Unlike my old G55. This is so much reliable and comfortable. Had to get last one before the new version comes. Can’t deal with turbo V6 or hybrid, which I think LX600 will be turbo V6+hybrid.
GM full size suvs are actually pretty reliable, perhaps not as rock solid as Toyota and Lexus. But calling something junk while avoiding a large part of the picture seems a bit narrow minded, don't you think?
I dont know, the V8s in the Silverados and Tahoes are pretty rock solid. Of course they've had their kinks, but what engine doesn't. I'd say it would be close to par with the Toyota 5.7 in terms of reliability.
Overall the Powertrain of a Toyota truck is pure reliability, all drive components stay rock solid for the most part. Alternators, compressors, water pumps etc all stay in tact, unlike most GM and German SUVs 🚙
“This cubby makes it easy for you to forget your phone in and whatnot” To me that doesn’t sound like a problem with the car, rather, a problem with the driver being dense
Yeah, I think some new cars have little pockets that you could keep your phone or keys in. Leaving your phone or keys in the car is your fault, not the vehicle’s.
At least this’ll be reliable. Reliability isn’t a bad reason to buy this car. Luxury cars can be reliable too and Lexus pretty much beats the German or even British competitors Sure she is thirsty but the v8 is very smooth and I love the red interior it offers. It’s off-road capable too
Absolutely best large real deal SUV! No pretense, no gimmicks, this is as good as it gets. Real warrior that gets you anywhere in style, comfort and most importantly it GETS you there AND BACK! Tired of "no digital dash!" complaining...if you're after digital displays buy another iPad! If Lexus starts cramming every digital gadget into their cars, they will become just like every other lux brand...unreliable and risky to own past warranty period. I keep my cars for 10+ years and this is why I had to get the 2021 LX...the last V8 year. This truck does everything (sans fuel economy) above the 86th percentile and this is what I value the most.
What was your experience with the Mercedes Brand? I’ve never owned a luxury car, looking at the 2020 GLE 250...just not sure if it’s worth it...I’m worrried about expensive maintenance
Keaviona Palmer , ok so the prepaid maintenance is a must which Mercades can put into the deal I told them I did not want to pay for maintenance my whole lease which I did not thankfully I did the 3 year plan... my experience with my Mercades was a love and hate I had multiple rattles in the doors which the drivers and passengers door panels were both replaced under warranty.. also my rear spoiler was replaced twice under warranty because it started to stick up... as well as my over head console where the sunroof buttons are was also replaced..my suggestion is please due your research if you don’t mind the dealership knowing you by first name basis then benzs are not bad... thankfully it was mainly rattles or trim pieces that needed to be replaced... thankfully I’ve never had any engine issues with the Mercades in 3 years and 40k miles the engine is built solid I can say that.. best of luck!
Indestructible beast. One of my all-time favorite large luxury SUV such a beast. Looks great in the sport package with the lip kit and changed grill. Beautiful interior with a combination of old school style and new school tech, wonderful drive train with a Sweet motor, go anywhere capability can’t say enough good things about this thing. Only downside is MPG. Incredible engineering from Toyota/Lexus
You can go buy a used 100 Series right now. Seen plenty of them on Cars and Bids. Even used GXs/J150s can be had for a decent amount, though overlanding is starting to push the prices up now.
Great review. Unlike some reviewers you get what this car is about. Love the interior, reliability, comfortable ride and off road capability. Don’t like the mpg, handling, acceleration (especially in the mountains when you need to overtake).
Allen Crabbe Well, they have the Escalade which is around this price and it sells pretty decently for them. Personally, I don’t think the Escalade is as good as the LX 570 or Navigator but that’s another story. GM vehicles are usually not built well.
I bought 570 in 2008. There is NO any problem until now. the quality is indeed great. I will buy the next generation of LX570. Just have to wait and wait.
I guess that is what Lexus thought owners do. They buy every 10 years or so. But in America, most luxury buyers lease the newest thing every 3-4 years, and that's how Lexus the brand is starting to fall behind the Germans. I think many Lexus leasees got bored leasing the same thing the second time around, when they expect to lease something newer.
@@trdrav4 totally agree. on one hand, it is so easy and reliable to drive 570, comfortable and spacious, on the other hand, really not as powerful and cool as GLE63sAMG, or X5M. if Mercedez can also be reliable on the quality aspect as Lexus, it will be so good. but I think it is just a dream
Just wanted to point out that the LX 570 has 403 lb ft of torque (not 376) and has a 24 gallon tank (not 28). Loved the review though. The LX 570 is definitely an amazing truck. I'm actually in the market for a used 2017 model.
I was born and raised in east africa, and the landcruiser is EVERYWHERE. It just never dies and can take the most extreme environments, the nissan patrol coming at a distant 2nd. Even when i went to the middle east, the landcruiser was everywhere. I dont understand why toyota wants to sell the landcruiser (and LX) in north america, theres almost no market for it and it gets unfairly compared to the BMW/Merc/Range rover when its apples to oranges. The landcruiser has a completely different reason for existing then taking it to malls and concerts. If they change the landcruiser in any significant way, they'll lose majority of all the sales they do on it in asia, middle east, Africa and Australia. Just pull it out of the north american market and re-design the 13 year old sequoia to suit the market.
I think it would sell better in America if it was cheaper. As Sofyan said, most Americans in this price range would rather get the Lexus version or a German/American vehicle.
In a way, how you describe the Land Cruiser is kind of how an American would describe a Jeep Wrangler. Of course, Jeeps are unreliable as hell compared to the Toyota but they are very off road capable. With Ford bringing out the Bronco soon, I imagine Americans will have even less reason to spend so much on a Land Cruiser.
@@kevinnorris6558 Except you can get a brand new wrangler for 30K MSRP. Theres no way you can get a new landcruiser south of 80K MSRP. While being equally offroad capable, they dont even come close to competing in the same market. I cant remember the last time i saw a landcruiser or LX down the highway in north america, but i see 2-3 dozen jeeps everyday. If there is to be a jeep wrangler competitor, then bring back a new FJ cruiser.
@@Mo.Jo. Agreed, Toyota ought to offer a wider range of 4X4s. The 2 door Prado sold in other markets would perfectly fit into the space left vacant with the FJ's departure.
Yes, for example , I will show you the corresponding models of Lexus and Toyota’s Rav4 = Nx300 Venza = Ux200 Highlander = Rx350 Sequoia = Gx460 Land Cruiser = Lx570 Camry = IS300 Avalon = ES350 The other Lexus cars are performance cars not available in Toyota. You want the trucks and the Minivan, Toyota. You want the sports cars with the F performance, go Lexus. Performance Badge : TRD = F Hopefully this clears up
For an argument for longevity, none of the competitors will outlast this thing. True to form, Lexus is very apprehensive to radically change electronics and powertrains. The i-Force V8 is 15 years old and has not added any power or technical bits(though the Lexus did get an 8spd 4 years ago). Toyota spends serious R&D revenue and time to develop components that last many vehicle life-cycles over. Where they're smart in the case of the LX, they spent the money where it counts. Soft-touches in the interior, the comfort of the seats, and definitely the ride quality. Part of the reason that the LX has significant cost is the pneumatic suspension(sorry Sofyan, it is not an "air suspension"). It is very unique and very complex, but very reliable and supremely comfortable, even with a short 112" wb. I know that Sofyan stated he would take an X7 or GLS. In a lease situation, absolutely, but for a purchase? Hell no. The resale value on the LX alone is worth it over the Euros...
Please stop generalizing that "nobody uses CDs anymore". Younger people may not, but many of the rest of us still have large CD collections and enjoy listening to them in our vehicles. Manufacturers who stop offering CD players will lose some customers.

@@trdrav4 100% agree with you. Those folks don't have a problem "renting" a vehicle for their entire life. I bought mine 2 years old, 10k miles, and saved $30,000. I took advantage a ultra low lease turn in and the massive depreciation hit.
This car isn't giving many reasons to buy new; Those that are interested in this model should just get the used one, especially since they are reliable as heck.
I keep trying to convince my old man to retire with this car. But I fear he’ll end up going with a German car and deal with the frustration of their maintenance...
My mom wants to buy a Mercedes in a couple years and I keep pushing her to aim for a Lexus. She’s older and doesn’t know jack about maintaining a car so I’d rather her get a car that’s more dependable and easy to maintain. She plans to keep the Mercedes for at least 10 years and I just don’t know if that’s plausible.
@@kevinnorris6558 Really, it depends. If she follows the maintenance schedule, the engine would last even if everything else starts glitching. The good thing about Japanese cars is that if you don't give a damn about maintenance, you can probably still drive the car for like 5+ years
@@kevinnorris6558 Seeing as your mom doesn't know how to maintain a car properly, you should strongly emphasize the importance of maintenance to her if she still wants that Mercedes because they are not the most reliable and will give her problems if she skips on maintenance and keeps it for a while. Or if you can, sway her to the Lexus if she is really forgetful or just doesn't care about maintaining a car. It irritates me when people buy expensive luxury European cars but are surprised when it breaks because they can't be bothered to bring it in for an oil change and they stand there like an idiot dumbfounded wondering why it broke down. They treat them like any other cars when that should not be the case at all, because typically they run hotter, require special and specific fluids, and are more complex in terms of engineering and electronics compared to Asian and American luxury cars.
Lexus needs proper maintenance as well. German luxury cars are doing a pretty good job on reliability now(Except BMW though...). It depends on how much you care about your car.
@@danielsung1380 Well yeah, every car needs maintanance. I'm just trying to say it's easier to maintain a Lexus over a Mercedes because it is much less complex, doesn't require as much special care, and has an engine that been proven for years.
Some of the things this guys says is just ridiculous. Of course they put hard plastic on the bottom of the door. That part gets kicked and they need a durable, easy to clean material there. Of course the platform is a bit dated, but all the materials are new! Of course the door closing is going to be solid and the steering wheel is going to feel solid, that shit is brand new. Lexus actually did a great job updating this vehicle. That's the reason why they can still sell this monster hog of a vehicle.
It's just one of those touches which indicate quality and a good solid structure. Go open and close the doors to any old Mercedes Benz cars. It's weirdly satisfying because it sounds like a bank vault door.
If it was more modern in the inside, maybe a touchscreen or digital dash, this would be my favorite luxury SUV. I love the look, capability, and reliability.
Not surprised that the LX sells better than the LC since the two wasn't that too far off in terms of price and if people gonna spend around $100k for a flagship SUV, they gonna want a Lexus rather than a Toyota. But honestly I prefer the LC, which is more practically and looks better, and of course cheaper.
I love how he just glides over crucial information like how this motor is stronger than any of the German motors and will last longer than anything from BMW Ben’s and Audi. Very strange that he can point out that the Germans have a better back up camera but can’t point out that this Lexus has better off-road systems than any of the German cars...
@@preoksaha4504 Yup. I can surmise that the new LXs sold go to a lease buyer that will drive it 3-4 years and then turn it in. These people could give a F about the off road prowess, but more about the latest tech. The folks who are serial 10 year plus Toyota owners are usually buying these second or third hand.
I want reliable reliable reliable, a car is worthless to me if it doesn't work and all of the gadgetry over the years break. I want power, luxury, and reliability. that's it.
Just throw in the massage seats and apple carplay and android auto and cylinder deactivation and a touchscreen and pano roof and it will be a certified beast
I bought my 2015 Lexus RX350 for the fact it has great reliability and comfort and runs on regular gas, not premium! Not a big fan on the technology fuzz going around.
I personally think it looks hideous, which is interesting, as Lexus managed to style the RX just right. And that's where I think Lexus needs to start. Make the RX taller, stretch it to LX proportions, stuff a v8 in it, and make that your redesigned LX. Simple. No need to reinvent the wheel (no pun intended). 😁
I don't even hate this truck. It's old yet oldish looking, Is luxury and can off road with the best of them if needed AND has excellent reliability. If I had the means I would be interested thanks to this review.
I added Apple CarPlay to mine. It’s perfect now. I average 18 mpg in sport mode. It will take me into my dotage. Thanks for the review. The interior in the 600 doesn’t have the character the 570 does in my opinion.
If it's a lexus, then why not update them appropriately. Its gonna be reliable regardless. Don't excuse their laziness but then again, Toyota knows their customers are brainless sheeps and know they can sell them anything.
I wish we could stop complaining about the CD player. It's there because it's also a DVD player. All Lexus vehicles play DVD on the infotainment screen when not moving. If it has screens in back, it plays DVD on those while moving. If the DVD player is there, doesn't it make sense that it also would also play CDs?
I don't think its hatred. I am a former Lexus owner and I kind of get it now. They give you a great reliable car but then half ass the rest of the features. Features are what we want in the luxury segment, shouldn't overlook that

I rather have two ipad pro's than those two thick tiny screens at the back seats. Lexus is a bit disconnected in their thinking. "if its not broke, don't fix it" mentality just means you're unwilling to change and willing to fall behind. In Canada, we had two companies who were leaders in their field and did just that "why fix when its not broken". Today, they no longer exist because they took too long to change to keep up with the competition. If the Korean brands made cars as reliable as Toyota, Toyota's days are done. It's just one move away (although a tough move), checkmate.
@Alec Empire Actually there isn't a trade off. Toyota can still make reliable products that are innovative. I am not saying they should change the chassis and drive trains to "turbos" like most manufacturers. Changing the interior design will not make their car less reliable. Changing exterior design will not make their cars less reliable. If that's the case, the LC500 contradicts what you say as it is a completely new and innovative car that's also in the 100k+ price range. I am not asking them to over-engineer their cars like the Germans and give me useless features I don't need. I don't need ambient lighting or 360 cameras. But changing interior materials and aesthetic design of the car won't automatically make my car break down after 100k miles. They've been updating their Toyota line year after year, theres no reason Lexus, a line that cost 50-100% more for the same, should remain stagnant 5+ years. If you think innovation comes at a cost of reliability, then they wouldn't have made Prius, or updating the Rav4 every 5 years to remain market leaders. The fact they don't change it is because they can't afford to. They don't sell enough to warrant the change at the factory.

"Annoyingly appealing." That's a great description.
Yes.
The target market of the LX are luxury buyers, and most of them aren't going keep it for 25 years. Its not going to do the first buyer much if he's only leasing it. For the used car buyer, yeah, it is a forever vehicle.

Extremely smooth ride. Love driving this vehicle.
Lexus is pure reliability unlike GM junks, German cars are good but highly over engineered....ppl actually live and drive beyond car reviews.
GM full size suvs are actually pretty reliable, perhaps not as rock solid as Toyota and Lexus. But calling something junk while avoiding a large part of the picture seems a bit narrow minded, don't you think?
@@brentflemmer4237 well they aren't well made
I dont know, the V8s in the Silverados and Tahoes are pretty rock solid.
Its a great car just improve the tech, fuel economy and range, I think any car that can last that long is a fantastic car.
I would get the land cruiser for it’s approach and departure angles and the heritage rich name plate.
Rich people would consider luxurious name plate though
“This cubby makes it easy for you to forget your phone in and whatnot” To me that doesn’t sound like a problem with the car, rather, a problem with the driver being dense
Yeah, I think some new cars have little pockets that you could keep your phone or keys in. Leaving your phone or keys in the car is your fault, not the vehicle’s.
At least this’ll be reliable.
Reliability isn’t a bad reason to buy this car. Luxury cars can be reliable too and Lexus pretty much beats the German or even British competitors
Sure she is thirsty but the v8 is very smooth and I love the red interior it offers. It’s off-road capable too
Lexus only beats the Europeans in reliability, in every other area Euro luxury cars are better
So what if you buy these outdated car and you are one of few people who face problem
I have a 2020 Lexus is350 I came from a Mercades and I bought my Lexus for the reliability and the comfort not the technology.
Alim Felix can’t call the engine solid unless it can go 20 years with regular maintenance
Alim Felix
Can’t tell if an engine reliable with only 40k on it.
moloono1 ok thanks..
I agree 100%. I want to own one of these one day
You can go buy a used 100 Series right now.

Imagine Redline Review's response if this was a GM product with an MSRP over $100,000 and the glove compartment was not lined with felt! 😱

Allen Crabbe Well, they have the Escalade which is around this price and it sells pretty decently for them. Personally, I don’t think the Escalade is as good as the LX 570 or Navigator but that’s another story. GM vehicles are usually not built well.
It’s amusing that he keeps saying how well this sells yet Escalade outsells it’s yearly sales in ~two months
The Lexus will outlast all competition. Can't beat it.

Does it really matter how the door sounds when you close it ? Is it a deal breaker because someone doesn't like the way the door sounds ?
Lol 😂
Supposedly that door sounds convey quality in consumers sub conscience.
It’s pretty trivial to me. I own a WRX and give no shits on how my door sounds when I close it.
It's just one of those touches which indicate quality and a good solid structure. Go open and close the doors to any old Mercedes Benz cars. It's weirdly satisfying because it sounds like a bank vault door.

Lexus I love your cars please redesign this car

I personally think it looks hideous, which is interesting, as Lexus managed to style the RX just right. And that's where I think Lexus needs to start.
You say what I’m thinking! Nice to know great minds think alike :) Have a great weekend!
