This song is from the "just pre-war period"...when FDR signed the draft law ( which was criticized by the Isolationist crowd) and began training massivev amounts of men and conducting cross country exercises in 1940...it was an inspired piece of legislation that prepared us for what came after Dec 7th...the Abbit and Cistello movie Buck Orivates was just one if the popular movies made during this time on the subject of the draft.
The one thing the U.S. government excels at is getting the masses excited for the slaughter.
