I 100% agree with Ray jumping on the guys first getting out of the car as long as he didn't have the option to drive away. If he was blocked in its fair game. I'm not waiting around to see what happens when someone comes at me like that. And yes the smell she smelled at the end is cordite aka burnt gun powder, My bro and I used to shoot competitively and our buddies could tell the days we had matches
Aussie here and agree. I reckon a crime comedy spin off could be done based on....... GARY (Stop reading now if you haven't finished the show) Gary's business is going well and he's having fun. But Gary being Gary well sometimes that history in crime comes back on him. Or a sequel show where Ray is linked to the killings from the shells and bullets left over from the Patchett. It's time to clean up loose ends. Or maybe a redemption arc.
Writes, produces, directs and stars. He's an auteur, which is a very rare thing these days. Both the Mr Inbetween 3 season series, and the feature length "The Magician" film which was a prequel to the events in the series.
Davros wanting to meet with ray and acting like hes in charge was ridiculous on his part. He didnt know who he was dealing with. He found out in the end.
I love how Freddie puts his head in his hand after Ray does the smile, and after walking away Freddie did warn Davros and said “don’t even think about it”.
I like that the gunfire is realistic. Firing a weapon like that, you burn through ammunition pretty fast. Most movies pretend that everyone has infinite ammunition. Another great reaction, I was looking forwards to this!
One of the most surprisingly brilliant shows Ive ever seen! As an afficionado on the hitman - crime genre, what I love about this show is the deadpan Australian humour, and straight down to matter of fact illegal business, and the sheer originality of the main character. Its hard to write or act such a character in this genre that it totally original and different to anything I've seen before! Every half hour episode packs more in than most action thriller crime movies! Absolute dynamite! Ultra Violence or a casual Machine gun shoot out, then back to ordinary Joe Public life with his hilarious friends, relationshi, daughter, employer (Dewy Crowe from Justified!! Another brilliant show!! )! I binged watched every episode/season in two nights! My only criticism is that the lead actor/ writer won't do anymore seasons! BUT, along with half of Australia & those in the know in Hollywood now, I cannot wait to see what he conjures up next!! A Tour De Force in every respect, My eyes and mouth were wide open half the times me watching this show! I never knew what to expect next! It reminds me of rhe impact Tarantino made with Reservoir Dogs/Pulp Fiction! But I much this show for its everday normal context without the typical obvious TV/ movieness! Tense, funny, hardcore, bloody brilliant! 🫡😱
The end fight is a Solo operators only hope against overwhelming odds. You have to take the initiative. Love that about this series, no big build up or speech, just Ray making a decision and carrying out in a professional manner.
The significance of the opening scene with the gun is that in Australia we don't have access to those types of guns. They're insanely regulated here so you need a license and to follow regulations and whatnot. That type of gun is not legal in any way, shape or form here. So to get one is obviously a big deal.
I wouldn't say guns are insanely regulated. The laws are strict, and obviously that Sten wouldn't be legal, but there's plenty of guns (over 4 million) owned legally by civilians.
@@lh7325 yeah but that's not a sten it's sterling which is also alot harder to get cause of how rare they are and that they were the much more preferred by us aussies over the sten because they worked better

"Dimmies" are Dimsims Davros had too much ego and pride to let things go. Ray did the right thing against the bullies, They had him blocked in, they escalated things, they were both getting out and leaving him and his lady potentially defenceless. He met them head-on and with enough violence to have them intimidated and fleeing in terror and with little more than a sore knee and a scary tale to tell. Men and women generally have different relationships with violence/fighting. Men see it from a frame of protection from harm against other men for themselves and those they care about. It is not as much about inflicting pain as a means to an end. Women generally frame it as bad, dangerous and scary. Those applying it as unreasonable and irresponsible. It is like fire. Fire has potential to hurt everyone BUT directed and used correctly can be the correct tool for effecting a reasonable outcome.
Chrissie, you are brilliant. Btw, another excellent Australian TV series that you should watch is 'Underbelly'. The first series is great, but there are other series' and they are good too. They're all based on real people and events in Australian criminal history over the last few decades and they are all on RUclips as far as I know.

Hi Chrissie, loving the reactions. I thought I’d mention checking out ‘Romper Stomper’ . It’s a cult classic Aussie film starring a young Russel Crowe. It follows a skin head gang and racial violence. Kinda heavy!
What makes Ray interesting is that he is completely amoral. But not in a movie psycho kind of way. He's very understated and doesn't enjoy violence. But can change rapidly on a dime and go 0 to 100 for no reason and he thinks it's completely justified.
He's not amoral - his morals are just different to most people's. A lot of guys in crime have morals, they have different morals to most of us and a lot of time it comes from having different origins/backgrounds to most of us.

I always think he should have smashed all three of them and burned the garage down....... maybe I'm more of a Psycho than Ray. Just realised that Chrissie hasn't got this far yet so spoilers yeah?

If you like this show, you might like Loudermilk. Ray reminds me of the lead Loudermilk, except he isn’t nearly as violent as Ray. It’s basically about a guy in Seattle who runs an AA support group who used to be a music journalist. He kinda gets into a lot of incidents out in public with people like Ray. The strength of the show are the interpersonal relationships and the groups convos that happen. It’s not an action show though. More comedy and drama.
Hello Chrissie! I have a question about 3:08 Would you rather watch some people beat your boyfriend badly or when you see he knows how to defend himself is not a good thing?
