The BACK TO THE FUTURE animated series is a weird forgotten pop cultural relic, lost to the sands of time and better cartoons.

To think that "Bill Nye the Science Guy" was a Back to the Future spinoff is just bonkers!
Agreed!
I had no idea that it was until today
I mean it actually wasn't though. He just so happened to get a show later. That doesn't make it a spin-off. It wasn't even produced by the same studio or aired on the same channel.
I always thought it was weird how they managed to get Christopher Lloyd back to film a bunch of live-action segments but he didn’t provide the voice.
I get the feeling they just cranked out the live action segments in a couple of afternoons hahah
@@CultPoptureIt was probably within the same contract and schedule as the _Back to the Future: The Ride_ footage.
They probably filmed all his segments at once and it was along the lines of what he contributed to the Universal Studios ride, promo commercial spots, etc...
They didn’t want to pay Christopher Lloyd to do it.
Dan Castellanetas imitation is poor in my opinion. He also can’t do a decent imitation of Hans Conried. Homer will always be his signature role.
I know. Especially considering he voiced some cartoons later on.
There was one joke from the series that I liked where Marty pointed it out how weird it was that Biff had so many relatives that looked and sounded exactly like him in every time period they went to.
Pretty good!
Why would you give a character ANOTHER catchphrase when they ALREADY HAVE AN ICONIC CATCHPHRASE THAT EVERYONE KNOWS?

@@oldthingidk so much cringe
Hi Roxie
@@RosieWeird Hello dearest Rose!
I used to watch this show as a kid and I still say “ouchamagowcha” to this day
That's niche. I love it.
You are the dream result for that sad writer.
Every 80s cartoon I ever watched was weird but that's why I liked watching them. They were silly, made no sense, and weird.
Fair enough, can't deny you that.
Probably the best cartoon of the 80’s was Bakshis “new adventures of Mighty Mouse”. That’s the show that started the great animation Renaissance of the 90’s. You could tell the people that worked on it were having a good time.
John K and Tom Minton both worked on that show.
I agree. They weren't afraid to do whatever they wanted. Now everything has to be logical lol.
I LOVED this show as a kid and anything BTTF.
However my favorite parts were the live action segments with Christopher Lloyd.
Ah.. the days when basically every big Live Action Movie got an Animated Series!
80s - 2010s
@@Emnitys2 I feel like it was only from the 80s to the late 90s. What movies got animated in the 2010s? 🤔
@@TECfan1 not movies, but I can think if a few shows that were made due to the success of films
@@Emnitys2 Oh okay. Like what?
@@TECfan1 X-Men evolution, Iron-Man Armoured Adventures, Transformers Prime, Tron uprising
I just realised that Marty is voiced by Danny Phantom
:O
Oyyy don’t diss the Marty & Doc voices here.
Fact: Doc is voiced by Homer Simpson 😂
Not gonna lie, “Oucha muchga” is so stupid it’s funny
Martys Voice cracks while saying ow at 5:35
@waylon lewin *o u c h*
@waylon lewin lol
i’m 18 and remember my grandad, who introduced me to bttf, showing me this show as a very young kid and i absolutely loved it. i haven’t seen it since i was like 6 and haven’t been able to confirm it’s existence for years until today, with my only solid memory being the theme song
I actually was a teenager when this came out! I loved it! Granted, I kind of forgot about it, but I still loved it at the time. I remember they went to about 2100 at one point-that was my favourite episode, along with the baseball Marty ancestor ("When Irish eyes are smiling") and ancient Rome ("I saw, I conquered, and I BEAT HIM!") I remember those two quotes 30 years later!
This show followed a similar format to The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, every episode begins and ends with a live-action segment.
i remember one time i nearly tripped over a rock and just screamed "GREAT SCOT!!!" at the top of my lungs. someone nearby screamed "back to the future reference!!!"
In one episode, Marty uses the alias Jimmy Olsen. In the 1978 Superman, Jimmy Olsen was played by Marc McClure who played Marty’s older brother Dave
Bill Nye The Science Guy never aired in my country and I always wondered where I knew the guy from. Thanks for reminding me that this is where I first saw him!
If Christopher Lloyd did the live action Doc scenes, why didnt he do the voice for the cartoon Doc?
Good question, I presume he didn't want all the extra work?
he didn't want his name to associated with that......thing they call a show
Most likely, scheduling. He was in 3 movies in 1993, like Addams Family Values.
Modern day Biff being 1955 Biff bugged me as a kid watching this. I also seem to recall an episode where Marshall Strickland was there in the modern day as well.
Honestly just have the Live Action segments with Christopher Lloyd Bill Nye and this show would be pretty good spin-off. Not that I hated the animated, just that it's not my cup of tea.
Agreed;
I haven't finished watching it but my favorite episode so far is the one in which they prevent dinosaurs from going extinct which creates a world with intelligent dinosaurs and no humans, I wish they had expanded on this to multiple episodes because seeing Doc explore this world would have been interesting
I agree!
The intro song to this show was super catchy though
Your humor and personality is just amazing. That buying the hat at a convention for $60 and finding it cheaper later is something I went through too!! You have a new subscriber for sure. I can watch you talk about anything and it's so fun. Thanks for making this video! Going to watch your other episodes.....😍
I'm still happy that it exists.
At lest it got 90s vibes
A small price to pay for 90s vibes
It’s just give me 90s vibes to me ok
From the sound of it, the only good thing to come out of this show was the set of Happy Meal toys based on it, & even then, only 2 out of the 4 of them were actually worth getting, those being the Doc & Marty toys.
I see why Back to the Future ain't getting a reboot lol
Hhahahah
I think Hollywood would ruin the movie.
Thank you for the review. I'm building my third lego delorean (the part 3 version), and wanted something back to the future related that I haven't seen before to play in the background, but at the same time isn't captivating enough to distract focus away from my build... this series sounds perfect!
I prefer the live action than the animated series
This video should get more likes. I like how AJ gets into detail about the cartoon and it’s ups and downs.
Thanks Yakko! I'm a big fan of yours as well :P
Have you played Back To The Future: The Telltale Series? That game can easily pass for a Part IV.
There was a what now
Aww I LOVED this show!! I was born in 02 but my mama bought me my own VCR and a ton of tapes before I was even born! I'm pretty sure Marty was one of my first crushes,,, 😅😅
Only in a back to the Future animated series would you hear ever hear a line like this
"I had no idea having too many ideas could lead to having no idea whatsoever"😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤣🤣
If I made a fourth I would be forced to be relegated to the original train tracks
Oucha ma goucha!
No
I've seen a few episodes. It's fine. Nothing more, nothing less. Personally as a big fan of the movies I enjoyed seeing their further adventures. It's a cartoon series so I don't expect the characters to act the same as in the movies. Children's cartoons are a different medium than a feature film. It was enjoyable enough. It was also cool that it encouraged learning about science.
I've watched the show as a kid but only for the live action Doc Brown segments and would change the channel during the cartoon part to some other cartoon lol
In terms of scratching bttf itch i'd recommend the telltale game and i've heard good things about recent comic series
I didn't know Bill Nye the Science Guy came after the Back to the Future show!
I originally thought that kids would always pump the air with excitement, when they saw Bill Nye the Science Guy on Back to the Future!
Learn somethin' useless everyday!
But I think we can agree that the Christopher Lloyd and Bill Nye stuff were great, right?
Sounds like it had inconsistent or just bad writing.
I was actually searching for the series itself, but I think you've changed my mind.
I used to love this show, the haircut and the great race were my favorite 2 episodes 😅
Marty was such a Chad in BTTF
They nerfed him and made him a beta in the cartoon
9:04 Of course they did a holodeck episode.
Ok, someone needs to make a multiverse map including all connected universes because BILL NYE IS CONNECTED TO BACK TO THE FUTURE!!!!
8:16 Well... the Civil War *is* a pretty iconic period in US history, with repercussions lasting to this very day. But they may or may not have chosen the best way to engage with it here.
Early 90s animated shows, they will never do it like that again
I can’t believe the voice of doc brown is not the only one and only Homer Simpson Dan constella and i thought the voice of Einstein could be the voice of scooby doo
I remember owning one or two of the spin-off comics based on this series. One of them involved them working with an ancient past Biff who was a Conan the Barbarian ripoff, I think? But anyway.
The OG Rick and Morty
I liked the show..
Huge fan of the franchise and I collect many memorabilia
The OG Rick and mody
well....yea.....Rick and Morty obviously takes inspiration from back to the future
Marty---------> Morty

The “Back the Future” movies were probably the best movies of the 80’s and early 90’s. I made the mistake of watching this back when it was new out of curiosity. The only remotely watchable part of this series were the live action segments with Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown. Making this animated series was clearly nothing more than an shameless attempt to cash in on the success of the movies and sell toys. The animation and artwork are terrible, the stories are dumb and uninspired, and Jules and Verne were annoying. It’s like this series was created by people who had never seen the films and had only the most superficial knowledge about the characters. I truly hope the creators of the series stay true to their word that there would never be another sequel to the series. I would like to remember the three original films as they are. Christoper Lloyd will always be Doc and Michael J Fox will always be Marty. I hate remakes of old shows and never want to see anyone else but the oroginal actors in these roles.
Too bad that I grew up in the '80s or the 90s. Because they seem to make everything into a cartoon from movies to other TV shows.
Nice Mewithoutyou shirt 👌🏻
Thank you so much! Nice to meet a fellow fan.
6:00 actually that’s the crossover episode that’s not Jennifer that’s Sarah Connor
4:50 that IS heAvY.......
I do wanna see only the live action tho...
I used to love this show... but I was like 8yo
"I guess you guys aren't ready for that yet. But your kids are gonna love it."
"Oucha-magoucha" is not original to this show ... older generations in the USA have been saying that catchphrase for a while
I dunno, I always loved it! 🫤😆
*GREAT FUCKING SCOTT* !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you really want to experience a Back to the Future Part 4, I recommend playing the telltale video game! It has a great plot, features original cast members voice acting, and it just feels like Back to the Future.
What is a Western Musical Called Back to the Future in London's West End called back to the to the musical it does Ben Joyce
What have they done to you Marty?
Am I the only one who sees an age gap between Doc and his wife?
Bob Gale is a Fake-Fan!
He's just trying to hide his love for it.
Time Warp Trio ( 2005) was better.
80s outfit does it was me of Teen Wolf Marty's outfits
Wow
so, its marty mcfly with the horniness of alex p. keaton? huh
you "have it on dvd", bish please i watched this on tv when it was new lmfao.
If u had a blue tint that Roman ruler kinda looks like you....
Oh God, this show was so bad. If they made it today it would probably be a Netflix series and there would be so much more effort put into the story, designs, and animation. And Christopher Lloyd would do Doc's voice and that guy who did the voice for the video game would do Marty. Hell, why don't they do that? I could see that working.
Where are you from?
Aotearoa New Zealand
3:26, 8:59.
Aucha-magaucha!

I love them too. I was just Googling the Back to the Future cartoon and I came across your stuff.
Oh awesome. Well, welcome! Hope you stick around, please consider subscribing :)
Cult Popture I went and made a pop culture Mount Rushmore... Back to the Future 2, It’s Crazy, It’s False..., Simpson’s, and NBA Jam TE. Family Matters and American Gladiators were strong contenders for shows. Songs for the Deaf by QOTSA and Z by Morning Jacket were the other contenders for album. GTA5 was a contender for game along with the earliest Madden and NBA Live games I played. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was a contender for movie. I saw MWY in 2013 and 2016. In 2016 I talked the drummer Ricky about his taste in music and we had a lot similar interests.
Love it! These are great calls! You should share this on our discord server (:
I want a 4th movie 🍿🎥🍿🎥🍿🎥🍿🎥🍿🎥🍿🎥🍿🎥🍿🎥
@9:00 I've honestly wanted to revisit this episode. Definitely a "Did that really exist?" Moment.
My father videotaped old shows for us to watch back in the early 90s and I remember seeing this episode.
It was really stupid yes, but highly memorable and enjoyable.
Back To the Future cartoon. An interesting idea, executed poorly. Lol An obnoxious little shit that Verne and honestly he's my favorite character in that show. 😂
I like the animation though not the best buuuut definitely will take that over the obnoxious clown mouth Cal Arts style of American cartoons that's mass produced now adays.
I love your thoughts on this series I watched it and hated it haha I'm a true back to the future fan boy like you they are my favorite films that I hold dear and this series was pretty bad, I wanted to love it but at least I still have Rick and Morty
We'll always have Rick and Morty
Maybe there's something deeper in there.. idk. Thanks
2022
Damn. Seems as though ima need to educate myself some more..
I’d best get on that..
"Marty fighting to keep slavery"that sounds like an extreme leftist thing to say. The contents of the story they were just trying to re-establish the original history. Like any conscious time traveler would be.
Why did they make a bttf show it was better off as a movie
my thoughts..it was trash.
