My prediction is that this will be the Bumblebee of the series.
Interesting, would you not say previous X-Men films have already been good enough to be seen as head-and-shoulders above the bad ones?
Cult Popture I personally like First Class, Future Past, and the Deadpool movies and Logan is a masterpiece. What I mean is that it looks like New Mutants will be a “less is more” approach. No teams of heroes vs villains, connected to a larger universe but you don’t need to know all about the other movies, and a more simplified story that doesn’t try to top the other ones.
Thing is, no matter what happens, how good it is, or how much money it makes, it doesnt matter, the "FMU" doesnt exist anymore, this movie wont have any sequels, and Disney wont risk to aproach other genres with the X-Men franchise...
@@Jose-se9pu I think the fact that Disney hasn't put this movie on Disney Plus or Hulu is a sign they are willing to see if can work in theaters. And it looks like it could be stand alone-ish to maybe get more.
Disney (in their way) is obviously going to continue with Deadpool since that makes money.

What do you think will be the next global catastrophe that will result in the further delay of this film's release? Do you think Avatar 2 will continue to compete indefinitely with new mutants for lengthiest delay?
Some kind of massacre will happen in an asylum somewhere and New Mutants will considered inappropriate to release because of its subject matter
I just saw the comic con panel with the actors and director. the new trailer hyped me up :D i will always prefer th x-men stories to the mcu ones. it's really sad that we loose potentially interesting approaches to the mutant stories, i'm not rure that disney will be able to handle them that well as they rely mostly on humor (i'm not against it tho) but the x-men stories are always more dramatic
Well DEADPOOL wasn't dramatic, but that's kinda what's so cool. It's awesome we can have these super serious films like LOGAN and super silly ones like DEADPOOL. I want everything in between!
Disney is going to do with the X-Men what they did with the rest of Marvel and Star Wars, turning it into fast food.

I was so pumped for New Mutants, not only because I love the characters but I was excited to see them wanting to explore mutants through a horror lens/direction. Hell the Generation-X team would've been ripe for it as well with some of them kind leaning to body horror like Husk.
I personally, still really want to see it even though it's the end and the planned future they wanted to do is not going to pan out. No Karma or Warlock, the latter of which I would've LOVED to see how they do.
I agree. I actually can't fathom a way in which the X-Men could be integrated into the MCU at this point, and I'd rather they stay as a separate franchise.
@@CultPopture I agree with that. Like, kudos to them if they can make it work (though, I doubt it's going to be 100% satisfactory) but, yeah I'd rather they be in their own separate franchise. To which X-Men is own of those properties where you CAN build an entire universe with just them since X-Men has done it all.

Interesting, how Mistique denounces her birth name (Raven Darkholme) in X3, but in Logan X-23 is Laura's slave name. Even worse, it's just an ID code, it's a _thing_ name. She's nothing but a weapon to the Transigen.
I know, x-23 is iconic name in comic books, but for the purpose of this movie her name is Laura.

Here are some genre bending franchise ideas:
-Star Wars but its Predator. One jedi, one alien. Boom.
-xmen but its harry potter. Student life teen drama mystery set in a school for mutants would be fun. Or make it Clueless with powers. Clueless rules.
-double down on the body horror fan4stic hinted at, the new hulk comics kindof do it but lets go with the ninja turtles for the hell of it but make it super cronenberg.
-there was rumors of a green arrow movie floating around where he gets sent to prison and has to survive with essentially batmans rouges gallery. Lets make it Robin instead. Prison movies are dope.
-Daredevil lawyer movie. Sure theres combat but the climax is in court baby.
-what ever happened to muppet movies? Like muppet christmas carol and treasure island. Why not Muppet Lord of The Rings?

3:05 I'd agree more with that point if the DC and Kaiju Cinematic universes hadn't managed to be even more samey than the MCU.
Although you are right. While the MCU might have the occasional super hero hiest movie or super hero Sci Fi, they'll probably never have a Straight Hiest or Sci Fi, which the X-Men Universe did have.
The DC and Kaiju stuff have plenty more problems than just the sameyness though. I think the MCU is more significant because "sameyness" feels like the only legitimate criticism against the series.
You know what the biggest tragedy is going to be? This movie will be GOOD.
But well, here's to the next 20 MCU X-Men movies that are going to be just as predictable and safe as Captain Marvel and Ant-Man 2...

I was looking forward to a Gambit movie too! Channing Tatum looked like he was going full Ryan Reynolds on getting it made too, but it never graduated from development hell.

Having just seen the movie yesterday.... meh. Just Meh. But the trailer was sweet.
That's the trick with a franchise. People go into it EXPECTING to see a franchise movie. Divert too far from the core of the franchise and you lose the franchises' fans. If you want to do something really different from the core of the franchise... why are you doing a movie in that franchise to start with?
This is what really killed SW. KK wanted to do movies preaching total feminist superiority in the SW universe. That's way divergent from the core SW theme of fun movies with space wizards and space wars so ultimately you saw decreasing sales across the core movies.... which may have still been profitable, but nowhere near as they should have been as the fans of the franchise were alienated.
