I like how he was thinking. but these offensive coordinators need to stay more than 1 year.
Just like Joe flacco when he won his first super bowl. After that year we had that OC. And when we had the number one defense we lost that defensive coordinator. We always losing coaches who is right with the Ravens. Because of John harbaugh.

We are on the right path. Lamar is that player but needs to be allowed to blossom in a pass oriented office. It comes with growing pains, but the reward will be worth it down the road. He is taking the next step. Monken is the right guy to push it forward
It would be great if the Ravens could bring in Steve Young to be Lamar's QB coach to take him to that next level..

I agree, but I'm sure Stephen A. Smith, who runs the show as executive producer, won't never let that happen because it would run the narrative. Also, because they are Mahomes fanboys and clearly don't like Lamar Jackson for some reason. It is also why they many times disrespect him. Steve Young is an authority for Lamar Jackson's game and development.

Those negative narratives make money for the network so they'll never stop that.
Those shows are sports tabloid shows. Don't pay attention to that. As a Niner fan, Lamar is a special talent and Steve is 100% correct here. To truly take advantage of a mobile, running QB, you have to develop the passing game. It's the nature of the sport. If it wasn't, you'd have a wildcat league. I feel like coaches see a mobile QB and they gravitate to making that the centerpiece of their offense. That's how you get Jalen Hurts and his recent crash. The guy can't read a defense to save his life. Always in the shotgun fooling nobody.
Lamar is different, but will be handicapped by the system if they make his mobility the centerpiece.
I didn’t know Steve Young got moved to DB. Stories like this are why I love football so much. The life parallels are understated. Believe in your self and play your game!
He’s the only one who truly respects Lamar’s game and potential

Steve young is the man. I moved from SF to Baltimore after Steve’s first 49er starting season. 49 fans were complaining about not winning every single game and that joe Montana needed to be brought back. I could see Steve had tremendous football skills and was just getting oriented. I got a bit soured by CA fair weather fandom….then I got a taste of the fan base in Baltimore and surrounding area. I met Johnny Unitas at a pulled pork joint in cockysville, survived the Testaverdi and Grebac seasons, and will never change my team again. Multi-generational committed fans on the east coast are awesome. I’m back in CA but 100% committed to the Ravens through the good, bad, and ugly. Excited about the big challenge Monday. RAVENS NATION forever!

I cannot wait to see Lamar's growth as a QB and leader/coordinator of this offense. I can see it and feel it developing.

Lamar has already been that. Growth? Lamars growth has been happening. Everything that he is doing now he did in college. He has always been accurate. He has never been a run first QB. What u want to see is the offense mature and become more refined. Thats on coaching, play calling and situational play calling. All of thats on coaching. Lamars growth has been happening right in front of us. But he has always been great at passing and reading defenses. U just want to see better from coaching. Not lamar bcus he had already shown u. Are u listening to steve at all? This is everything i been saying

As Ravens fans we needed this as well. Finally a respectable voice speaking on what we've all been defending since Lamar was drafted. He put into words what we all feel in 30 mins. Amazing.
Tom Brady told Lamar that he was the next one, Steve Young was always on the Lamar train, two guys who played at a championship level.

Crazy!! Im a 49er fan, I always look up opposing teams coverage to learn more about them before the game... National shows just yell and argue, they can probably only name like 5-10 players on teams.
Steve is the best, we listen to him in SF every wednesday on the radio (been doing it for years). He is a football philosopher! You can tell he sees a lot of himself in Lamar.

I've said it since Lamar Jackson entered the league that Steve Young should be his mentor and coach. LJ8 would be a HOFer for sure.

I absolutely get it… Steve shares a lot of similarities that Lamar is going through. He had his doubters. He had his detractors.
He had fans within his fan base that were Joe Montana guys who probably never accepted him. He lived in that LARGE shadow.
But he overcame it and became a Superbowl Champion. And we can’t wait to see that happen for Lamar.
After all the negativity around Lamar especially this week, it’s great hearing something positive
I love how Steve Young talks about Lamar. He is passionate about what he sees in Lamar. I love it! Real recognizes real! He sees Lamar's greatness.
"They tied my legs, now where you going to go?" That is the big question - takeaway. When other teams take away all the Ravens legs, we need an answer every time, in any game. On the fly adjustments. Not after the half, not the final 2 minutes, not in overtime. And not when we are down 2 scores. Fast adjustments. Manage the game!

Woke up this morning to a Steve Young interview great job guys… great interview
I love these kind of interviews because he's not mic'd up he doesn't have to watch his cadence he doesn't have to watch what he says because of the network, it's just refreshing
My 2 favorite QB’s ever! Steve Young and Lamar Jackson! Was able to spend some time with SY way back in 96 at the Pro Bowl…. Sat in his hotel room with him and Bart Oates (as well as SY’s relatives that lived in Hawaii at the time). I was shocked at how funny he was. It was definitely one of my favorite times in the 3 years I lived (stationed at Pearl Harbor) in Hawaii.
The thing that stood out to me the most was his explanation of a game manager. Folks say game manager as if it's a bad thing. Well I've always thought to my self that's the qbs #1 job. Every play they're responsible for getting the play, making sure everyone's in position and running the play. You can't be a good qb without being a good game manager.

As a 49er fan its cool to see other fanbases show love to one of our greats. Both Steve and Jerry are ALWAYS around the building. Mike Shanahan literally watches practice and game film for Kyle. The new generation is lucky.

I got the impression that Coach Young was satisfied with the Raven's efforts. As far as Lamar's progress in the passing game goes. But he wants more to be done and not just weapon's, but training, the technicalities and most importantly the mental or psychological aspect of today's modern quarterback.
