Bought the iCarsoft MB2 system. Great tool. One thing I've noticed when observing live data is: 1) It will NOT regenerate if the fuel light is on. If it's asking you to refuel it simply wont initiate the regen. When I picked my Merc up from Carshop 2 years ago it was on 230%. Clearly just a run around for staff/manager etc. 2) With my E250cdi / pretty much the 220cdi it doesn't do active regens. So even if you're on a long motorway drive, unless it hits the magic 100% fill level it wont initiate a regen. 3) It won't start a regen until it's warm. 4) The revs make no difference to the regen process. I thought holding it in 4th to give it a good "clearout" would be good for it. Makes no difference. Even in traffic, the ecu simply adds more diesel to heat things up. Works just the same. Don't waste your £ revving the arse of it. You can track this with injection quantity. Come off the throttle and coast and it will still be adding a small amount of fuel when it usually reads 0 injection quantity. Works the same in urban driving. 5) My soot levels usually get to 7g. Every couple of regens this drops to 0 or 3. Does burn off. 6) Ash content of 0g is a good thing! This doesn't increase. 7) My dpf doesn't seem to go to 0%. Seems to stop at 3%. The filter has hit 74,000 miles of use. Guess it can't clear everything out.
If you get a 400% fill you can be sure that it is a false reading, given by the differential sensor. Replace the sensor. The Icarsoft MB11 has a programme whereby you go into the regen programme if you have a "too full to regen code" it then guides you into a programme where it spends approx 5 minutes analysing the sensors etc, then bringing the car up to 1500 rpm. It will then tell you the true levels and delete the code. If you do not proceed to a forced regen (low fill readings) and you do not come out of the programme correctly it will show 357% fill and 13g soot and the fault code P246309 "soot content not ok...." will be displayed. Before replacing the Differential sensor check the tubes for cracking and blow them out with compressed air. After replacing the Differential sensor, reset it, or if you do not have the equipment for that ,tell it it has a new DPF. Icarsoft will not do it for you. Snap on or Autel will. In any event it is the differential pressure and the exhaust back pressure that will tell you the true state of the DPF. B28/8 Differential reading at tickover should be approx 0.01 bar The B60 exhaust back pressure should be between 0.945 and 1.545 at tick over and not more than 4.065 at 3000rpm. The intake air sensor should be working properly and the B19/11 temp sensor-a fail point in the OM651- should be reading correctly. If not your car will not regen as it needs to show temperatures of up to 700c for the regen/passive regen to happen. Mercedes, for safety reasons-high heat causing fires- prevent a static forced regen. Also a regen will not happen with less than 14l of diesel.
My dpf is blocked and gave up no codes. Had limp mode and was smoking bad as if theres a boost leak. Still in the garage for further investigation. Thinking leaking injectors? but its running fine when its running fine haha. Why wouldnt it do active regens? E220 2014
In my 2000 Ml 320 Blutec, I was at 35G, and had a faulty glow plug, I've replaced them and put some cleaner in the fuel tank and used better fuel, been driving about 200KM so far, now down to 13G, hopefully can get it down to 0 without removing the DPF. I'm using the Icarsoft MB V, 3.0 I try to force the regeneration it keeps saying error on the last step
Did you just do a static regen ? if so, how long did you maintain the revs for ? I've got a dpf issue, but I'm currently repairing my rear suspension so can't drive the vehicle, I'd like to regen my dpf without driving the car.. also will holding the revs in park cause any issues.
@@georgestanuk9626 well I had this exact issue. But in my case the car also had a fault code that said "Particulate filter pressure sensor A circuit low". Changed the sensor. Erased fault codes and checked the dpf fullness level with scanner. Scanner said that need to recalculate. Clicked ok and then boom. DPF fill level less than 10% and no more faults.
I bought the MB1 a few months ago. Yes, the beep is annoying but can be turned off :-) I notice at 2:26 that your tool like mine is reporting an unfeasibly high "distance at last regen 294,404 km". I don't think so. Is this a fault in the car or tool? Or am I reading the figures wrong?
It doesn’t make sense to me because the ash content is under 10g and soot is very low too? My bmw has 28g of ash and fills to 40g of soot then empties itself,
Hi My Brake hold has stopped working on Mercedes e class 2017 cabro. I have changed the main 12v battery. Will this unit help me to diagnose what's causing the issue.
Does my 2010 2.2 viano have a dpf? Got a recall tomorrow and my car has never done a regen. Concerned its been removed and I will be left in limp mode. Any help
the car does regen on its own when you drive. It shouldnt need to be forced unless its faulty or nearing its end of life. If you only drive short distances the car might not get to such temperatures to allow regen while driving. Drive a longer route once in a while.
EGR valves and DPF cleaning should be a regular part of the service schedule because added soot & dirt only leads to huge bills if the car is not used correctly. Given that most diesels in Europe are used for city life, this is a huge problem. My feeling is that Diesels are being forced into history and with a lack of maintenance, huge bills will only result in reduced life of the engine. Now i use a scooter in the city and would never buy a new diesel, Infact i wish i’dd kept my old diesel. I wonder why old diesel priced vehicles are going up?These are “Cheaper to maintain and repair” on with less complicated systems😉 the added cost of diesel means it has to be run by a business to make economical sense, not a family or sole trader
"Main odometer reading 59,404 km , total distance at last regeneration 294,404 km" Why would the distance since last regen be more km than the car has actually driven? Do you think it's been clocked?
In my case the dpf was extremely blocked and the car could not exhaust properly, limp mode and stalling. I had the dpf factory cleaned by shop and it’s good like new. Codes may return however the back pressure sensor, dpf sensor and possibly egr should be replaced/reset they all work together
Hi I just bought the icarsoft vaws v2.0 and am looking for the same function. When I go to ECM , read data, I have over 300 options and I couldn't find "check dpf status"
The “Main odometer reading” section is what I don’t understand on my iCarsoft v3. Some cars show 10k mileage, others shows 1.5 mil and so on. Just like this one the km shows almost 300k while the odometer reading is around 50k. Odd
Something seems dodgy here. Apart from the mileage not matching up, the dpf would not be blocked with only 7g of soot and 0.8g of ash. Also the car won't regen with active faults. The car needs to be driven whilst the error code is continuously being reset until it starts to regen on its own.
Wouldn’t you have thought 100% would be full not 200? Also if a dpf is 400% full would a tool which forced dpf regen clear that much or not ? Looking to buy best tool for me from the website
No such tool. All you have to do is pay the dealer $8500, their answer to a clogged DPF. Read my comments above. My mechanic cleans the filter & tube for about $300. Shame on down-hill quality Mercedes. #W212 #MERCEDES.JUNK
The mechanic I use has a tool which works like colonic irrigation for a DPF. Sounds as if it's the same thing as the first guy commented about. He said it would be about £350 to do mine and it's a big job as you need to get into the engine in my Skoda. Some DPF's are easier to access as they are located around the exhaust for example. I hope this helps as £8500 sounds ridiculous.
You wish! Mercedes doesn't even give a dash light for regen in the W212, as they do in the same engine in the Sprinter van. The dealer charge of $8500 to replace!
