    For anyone who is thinking about switching to this cheaper internet service, there are at least three issues for your consideration that they're not advertising. First unlike other Comcast/Xfinity plans where you can easily switch from one service to another; to get this prepaid service, if you are an existing customer, you basically have to cancel your current service, before you can sign up for this prepaid service. Second, if you own your own equipment, you can't use it(ie have to use what they give you). Third, they want your card information on autopay. There might be more, but as the old saying goes, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

      Also T-Mobile routes our IP through Atlanta, and I'm about 3 to 3 1/2 hours east direct shot to down Atlanta, GA one state over, so you figure that out from there.
      So no this is not uncommon speeds if you have a properly setup gateway with good line of site to a tower that's not being overused, and it's using the faster bands, as I've seen videos on YT of people recording near 1GB speed in burst test.
      Lastly if you need it T-Mobile has new Gateways with SMB connectors for an outdoor Antenna setup for even better speeds, and pings, but I'm happy with what I'm getting for the money, so I'm not going through that hassle of setting one up, and buying masonary bits, and a hammer drill to do a proper antenna mount on my carport.

They wouldn’t fix the cable drop coming into my house, gave em three chances w calls to customer service and even grabbed a tech I saw on the street. I'm so glad Comcast is not in my area, as their out of home WiFi pass service from my understanding is turning people's comcast owned gateways into public WiFi hotspots meaning if someone logs onto it, they use your connection for something dirty, it then can be traced back to you, plus it's also a security hole for your home network.

    That's honestly not bad Download Speed for only $30.00 or $40.00 but I get 500 to 600 Download on T-Mobile 5G Home Internet for only $40.00 with Auto Pay Discounts from also having T-Mobile for my Phone and Watch so obviously it wouldn't be worth it for me.

    Luke, I've mentioned this before so I don't need to go into any real detail but I have experience in this area. I used to work in the Antitrust Division of the DOJ and have worked on MAJOR cases such as the American Airlines merger with US Air and when AT&T tried to buy T-Mobile. I can tell you with about 90% certainty with that letter going out that the DOJ has already stated looking into this and they have already sent a letter to the companies letting them know this and for them to save any and all communications just in case they decide to actually go forward. Also, the question about how much the service would cost is kind of secondary & doesn't mean that much, at least in terms of antitrust. I can almost guarantee that most of the questions sre about contracts with the TV providers and the structure of the service pertaining to whether or not this new service will carry the channels that they force the TV providers to carry in order to get their sports networks. If the new sports centric service is not going to carry the networks that they force the TV providers to carry then thiis is a CLEAR CUT violation of antitrust.
    Basically here is how I see this going. By June or July the DOJ will announce a formal lawsuit or investigation & they will wait to see what happens with Fubo's lawsuit. However at some point a settlement will be reached allowing TV providers to offer similar sports centric packages or packages that don't have sports or news.

      If your guess is correct, this would be great news! My cable TV bill keeps increasing due to sports channels. And I don't watch sports. I only watch documentaries and some reality TV. I'm aware that the networks force cable companies to carry sports channels, and forbid them from selling packages with no sports. I would be absolutely thrilled if my cable company would be allowed to sell sports-free packages.

    Question for Luke: In Feb, Xfinity gave me a year of Internet (contract term) for $45 a month for a year, but now I want the $30 a month. Do you know if I can switch over without an early termination fee once it’s available in my area?

      I agree that T mobile has scalability issue. We live only 30 minutes from Philly in robust suburb and t mobile home internet is not available. This means their quality really drops off in high traffic areas which means they can't really scale the way wired internet can.

      Never. When I initially cut the cord and analyzed my bill, the sports and franchise and eq rental fees added up to more then the cost of YTTV at the time. The pool of people who sub to legacy cable is getting smaller, not larger. Eff Comcast universal.

    It should be against the law for certian cable companies (spectrum) only allowing their services in a certian areas , especially since they are so over priced for internet only ($90+) . I live in a low income apartment bldg. for mostly disabled and 60+ year old people and this is a freaking shame to prey on all of us who live in poverty !!! The majority of us receive under $12,000 a year and paying only for internet that leaves us under $10,000 for a year !!!!

      it basically can handle 6 different devices at 4k. The question is what does 200 down plan actually produce. I am on the 300 mbs down plan with Comcast for $90 month. But when I test its only about 220 mbs down. I worry those 200 down plans will actually be about 120 down.

  • @JazzTechie
    @JazzTechie 5 месяцев назад

    This channel just lost credibility by saying 30 dollars a month. Comcast has a well known history of deceptive pricing (example - 30 bucks for the first six months, and X dollars after the promotional price ends in the small print), so any true cord cutting advocate would preface the statement with warnings. If it is the true forever price, this would have been mentioned front and center because of its "face value" certainty.

    • @carlhammill5774
      @carlhammill5774 4 месяца назад

      even if comcast does start raising prices on prepaid internet plans it gives consumers some time to wait for better deals from competitors. We pay $90 month for 300 mbs down plan. I would absolutely jump at $40 month for 200 down plan as it would take about 5 years for that $40 to reach $90 month again. By that time, we will hopefully be long gone from Comcast as technology will keep adding competition.
