Thanks for the info. I had my order in but wanted to do my research before pressing the button lol. Think I'm going to go ahead and switch from spectrum
Thanks for posting this! I’m switching now from xfinity. Verizon is Soooo much cheaper and a better deal. I may need help getting everything set up properly though lol.
Setup is easy. You plug it in and then you can almost immediately connect to it and set the Wifi password. It just takes a few min to connect to the tower. I added the automatic power backup to keep it running when the power in my house goes out.
@@Jason_Phillips3679 The most annoying part of Xfinity is they give you a halfway decent rate to begin with, but dramatically increase the price the following year. I hate playing that game with them.
This is a godsend you actually go do an in-depth review instead of these other idiots are like oh yeah my speakers are decent. Go ahead and buy this thing A+. Thank you for the analytics and thank you for letting us know about how often the IP address changes cause that affects me as well.
I'm currently in my trial period. So far, speeds (250-300mbps) has been great, with the exception between 5pm-6pm, then it drastically reduces to 35-40mbps...not sure why?? Also, I have slot of WiFi devices, Alexa Echo's, smart plugs, thermostat, garage door opener, etc etc etc. I can't seem to think I have to change each one individually to the Verizon Modem. I hear I don't have to do this, so I am asking, what is the easy way?
I had that problem with IoT devices too. I went into the router's config and made the Wifi name and password identical to that of my previous router. All the devices switched without me having to change any settings. That is a dramatic drop in speed. Maybe there is too much airwave traffic in your area at that time and the network gets slow. The towers don't have the capacity to handle the data usage. Doesn't seem to be an issue in my location.
I'd suggest putting the router box in a different location, probably closer to a window and higher elevation if you can. If you live in an apartment building there might be a lot of interference with the signal.
I had the same behavior until I moved my vz cube from the center of my home to the kitchen near a window and on top of a cabinet, instantly jumped up from 175-300mb or more and I no longer had drops in download speeds depending on the time of day or night. Time will tell if it stays this consistent. I have only been using it for a couple months. I would test out different locations including windows in the east/west/north/south. I think depending on where your tower is it might help
That's a good question! I haven't tried that! I would call them to check. According to this FAQ page: "You may be able to bring the 5G Home Internet equipment with you to a new address, but you must get our authorization first" From what they told me at the store, they have a system in place to limit the number of customers using it in an area so that the towers don't get overloaded. www.verizon.com/support/using-5g-home-faqs/#travel
I received information on August 27, 2024, from several Verizon Corporate Stores in the Inland Empire indicating that the device can be relocated anywhere. @WinstonCodesOn
Try passthrough mode it's bridge mode so you can connect to your router, and your Verizon will work perfectly if you have any issues you can factory reset your gateway and start over if you make any mistakes.
Security not much of a difference since Wifi transmissions are encrypted. Ethernet cable is better because it's direct and you don't have data lost to airwave interference.
@@petehboy2 Wifi 6? As I show in my video, Ethernet is the best. Wifi 6 gets you up to the 300Mbps download speed of the outside internet, but network transfers within the local network are not as fast as having both computers connected via Ethernet. Slightly more lag too on Wifi 6 vs Ethernet. I would have kept he box in the room with the Ethernet cables connected, but I had concerns about the health effects of RF radiation.

Yooooo I’m literally doing the same thing hahah

I’m also in the process of switching from xfinity to Verizon. Yes xfinity is expensive.

Thank you for such a complete and well-done evaluation! It was very helpful. Keep up the good work!

So happy you made an update

500kbps during the day, and 2mbps at night. Worst internet.

Yupp! I’m having the same issue. They just put up a tower in the area and my connection is good during the day and from 7pm -3am it’s horrible.

Thanks for making this video. Very comprehensive review.
Hey i have a question! Can i take the Verizon 5g router anywhere i go or do i have to use it for the exact location i ordered for?

I just signed up today. It said it can only be used at my address.

@WinstonCodesOn
can you share a link of where I can get an EMF reader so I can also test my home setup? thanks

Great video, thanks
This was excellent
It’s such a huge improvement over Spectrum. And half the price. It’s good enough for online gaming too.
Is having an Ethernet cable more secure for people who work from?
Security not much of a difference since Wifi transmissions are encrypted. Ethernet cable is better because it's direct and you don't have data lost to airwave interference.
I live out in the country in a Ranch area and i was lucky enough this was the only interner service avaliable. Theres literally nothing else 😂
Starlink?
How can I add a camera to my router? I don’t see anything in the app.
Camera would be a separate piece of hardware. There are many kinds of camera systems so it's hard to say without more details.
I pay for unlimited Data and my phone is saying that I have reached my limit. How could that be when I pay for unlimited Data.
5G internet is garbage. Plus, you compared to DSL 😂. Bro, compare to fiber.
I might do that eventually, but need to get more strawberries.
This video just complicates things further.
What is ethernet?
When you connect the cable directly from the computer to the router. Not Wifi.
@@WinstonCodesOn is the new wifi out similarly fast?
