Bought a Razer blade last year with a 3070 TI and from the first day, the laptop kept crashing on me after playing a game or just using the laptop for homework. I kept getting blue screen "ran into a problem". Turns out it was a bad motherboard and Razer took their sweet time trying to fix it. After they fixed it, it's been buttery smooth. But for the price I paid, I shouldn't have a problem right off the back.

@@Tostones777 That sounds quite dubious but then again, I'm not sure which country you live in and what kind of store you refer to. Good for you that it works well now!
Can't Razer use any material that does not attract fingerprints? or have a different color option like silver on Blade 13 stealth? They also didn't update the keyboard, and I'm pretty sure reliability will not be on their side. Honestly the pricing isn't surprising, but its still outrageous for what it offers. I hope Asus don't disappoint.
I have the Blade 18, 4090 variant. I have been using it in Balanced and Custom modes. Using GE Force overlay with the little performance window showing at top right with GPU usage, GPU power, and GPU temperature. I have not seen the temperature ever go above 71 C. The GPU temperature runs at an almost constant 68 or 69 C, so far. F1 2021 at max settings with ray tracing and Valhalla at max settings are what I've played so far. It seems that with the Balanced mode the fans and GPU power are regulated to keep the GPU temperature at no more than 70 Celsius. The GPU power is constantly fluctuating in the 120 to 140 range most of the time when gaming. The surface of the Blade 18 runs much cooler than my older Blade 15 (2020 model), despite it having an additional 100 watt power supply compared to the old 15 inch laptop. It's a very big improvement in heat dissipation. Although I am comparing two different sizes, so it's not a complete apple to apple comparison.
@@ramonhanneman well, I have an older Razer Blade 15 inch as well. I can tell you the larger 18 inch monitor is nicer for gaming. It just provides a more interactive experience. My Blade 18's display looks really good. Another thing is that the larger Blade will disapate heat more than the 16 inch model, so the keyboard will be less warm. But understand the 18 inch model is bulkier and less easy to port around than a 16 inch model.
THIS is why more $1700+ gaming laptops need a vapor chamber! It definitely shows in how Razer can raise the TGP by 35W in the Blade 16 and 25W higher by Asus ROG in this year's G14. Now if someone can put the G14 specs in the form of thinner, ultraportable sub-4lb/1.85 kilo Ryzen APU "Blade 16 Stealth" for $2,250 I'd buy that up quickly than heartbeat. If shaving the weight by 25% (0.61kg/1.35 pounds) also means reducing both the peak CPU TDP and dGPU TGP by 25% down to 95W and 130W respectively then I'm all for it! The added efficiency of Ryzen with desktop 1650-class integrated graphics performance paired with an RX 7700M/7800S or RTX 4070 Mobile at that wattage will still be an amazing combo 😁🙏
I have a blade 14 from last gen that I got for super cheap. I also have macbook m1 max. These gaming laptops are very expensive and fill a very small niche crowd. For most of them, carrying the brick is a deal breaker. From a workflow for video editing etc, not having to worry about carrying a dedciated brick, same performance on battery regardless of % etc just makes so much more sense with a macbook. For the folks who buy this for gaming they have small desktop options, and then a cheap laptop for laptop purposes. Just a hard sell in general
So in those graphs the MSI with the 4090 is on balanced mode? If so, why not at least include the full performance mode of that device in the graphs? I must be missing something, I'm assuming. Otherwise how can we reasonably compare the best performance of this device with the 4080 to that device with the 4090 when the 4090 device is being settings limited?
I still have the razer blade pro 17 from 2020. It has a RTX 2080 super max -q and a core i7-H im super grateful to have RTX for their upscaling on the beefier new games but after a thermal repasted and a cooling pad with a blower instead of a fan I'm at damn near water cooling temps with no issues. I paid for their warranty when I first got it and that'll be running out this year, using it as a desktop had it's drawbacks the biggest is over time the heat from the cpu kills the leds in the keyboard. I used mine as a desktop rig so my LEDs were always on and now they don't shut off on certain keys unless I turn the backlight off.
The LED's are probably razer synape, I had a similar issue where one key was lit up red, but if you remove then entire profile and re-add it new it will fix that issue. I think
My old RTX 2070 laptop got only 80-90 fps in Doom Eternal at 1440p Ultra Nightmare preset. And this Razer Blade gets 290..... that's crazy! I'm really looking forward to the Acer Helios 18 with the 4080. Likely the one for me to upgrade to from my 3080 Acer Nitro 5
Huge performance increase between 2 generations. My Vega 64 got 140ish fps in Siege at 3440x1440 mixed settings. My 7900 gets high 300 low 400s maxed out lol.

The 4090 laptop is really this generation's upgrade to last generation's 3080. The 4080 laptop is the upgrade to the 3080 laptop. And the 4070 laptop is really the upgrade to the 3060 laptop.
*this generation 4080 laptop is really the upgrade to last generation 3070 laptop. Is what I meant to write.
I would take 4050 spec as well just to be able to afford it
I cant find the response time for this anywhere. One website claims 9ms but I don't know how reputable the site is.
They initially had 5 models with one starting at $2699 US, did they axe those first 3 models? I still have the screenshot from their website lol

I don't see the value.
Just ordered ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 17, 17,3" QHD 240 hz Display, Ryzen 9 7945HX, 32 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, RTX 4090 16 GB Vram for 3500 USD/ 3299€
I think that is way better value given the 4090 and the other specs

Hey thanks for all u do! Do you know of any upcoming sales on gaming computers? Any retailer is fine. Thanks again!
Never understood the hate for razer. they make great products. Watching this on my razerblade 16 3090 right now and loving life
Every razer every year is the perfect blade with y’all
Bought a Razer blade last year with a 3070 TI and from the first day, the laptop kept crashing on me after playing a game or just using the laptop for homework. I kept getting blue screen "ran into a problem". Turns out it was a bad motherboard and Razer took their sweet time trying to fix it. After they fixed it, it's been buttery smooth. But for the price I paid, I shouldn't have a problem right off the back.
I'd return it right away to whatever store you bought. Repairs like that shouldn't be required in the first days of ownership.
@Hans Van Nuffel I tried but the school store doesn't take returns on electronics. At least that's what I was told. But it's been running good ever since.
@@Tostones777 That sounds quite dubious but then again, I'm not sure which country you live in and what kind of store you refer to. Good for you that it works well now!
Razor are literally smoking crack with these prices
Will it survive longer than 2 years tho
Geez only 1TB of SSD at $3600 is crazy. 2TB needs to be the standard atleast
The virgin has to find some ‘’problem’’ just to be able to sleep well knowing he can’t afford it.
@@mr.erikchun5863 I see you are accustomed to associating sexuality with money, Mr Chun. How wise! Just be careful not to overcompensate too much.
Yeah, the color scheme and logo is pretty ugly and unprofessional.
Razer are really cool guys.
Respect for their stuff.
I'm not sure if I should take the 18 or 16. What are your thoughts about the 18" display?
@@ramonhanneman well, I have an older Razer Blade 15 inch as well. I can tell you the larger 18 inch monitor is nicer for gaming. It just provides a more interactive experience. My Blade 18's display looks really good.
Another thing is that the larger Blade will disapate heat more than the 16 inch model, so the keyboard will be less warm.
But understand the 18 inch model is bulkier and less easy to port around than a 16 inch model.
@@Deron8564 great, thanks!

I almost forgot that a 4080 Razer was being compared to a 4090 Titan.
I thought the point of the 90-degree charging cable was to be user friendly 🤷🏾♂️
So in those graphs the MSI with the 4090 is on balanced mode? If so, why not at least include the full performance mode of that device in the graphs? I must be missing something, I'm assuming. Otherwise how can we reasonably compare the best performance of this device with the 4080 to that device with the 4090 when the 4090 device is being settings limited?
yeah it looks like razer promotion wow it's just like titan😅
if i had this, my gaming life would be complete
can we turn off the dGPU?
I guess someone will buy it. Don't expect big sales with those prices though
I have have a cooling pad with a big single fan but when you say blower I dont understand what you mean. Can you link it ?
The LED's are probably razer synape, I had a similar issue where one key was lit up red, but if you remove then entire profile and re-add it new it will fix that issue.
I think
I love Razer laptops because they look so sleek and aren't stuffed with RGB lights like other gaming laptops
Strange, I actually love uthe power connector. I wish all laptops had this.

Hey man, those led (?) lamps with shape of a "stick" on your desktop - where can I find those ?
Why would you plug power the other way?
The gt 777 titan was at balance 120w while razer was boosted at 105. Thats a big difference there
Would have been cool if it featured power efficient hardware like the new AMD 5nm CPUs and GPUs. I'd really like to see some Windows machines rivaling the MacBook Pro line in terms of build quality, battery life and performance. Obviously you can't do anything useful on a MBP (I use one daily for work and it drives me insane).

The price puts this device into super niche territory. Even if the prices are dropped in the future, nobody needs this expect for 0.01% of people in the market.
I'd like this but find it very hard to convince myself spending the money in times where one can pick up a discounted blade 14 /w 3080 for 1.8k USD.
And you still cna't use maual fan setting while in custom mode. Such an oversight as this would be the profile you would use Manual fan mode the most.

Does windows internal power options interfere with Razer's implementation ?
does it worth buying it now in 5/2024 for 2600$?
I have the GT77 titan 4090 and the blade 18 4090. I just ordered the blade 16 4090 as well to compare.
Would love to your best timespy scores on these three machines if possible! Stock and after GPU OC, CPU undervolt. A lot of people at r/gaminglaltops might find this extremely useful in making a purchase decision

Which laptop is better? Which laptop is more reliable? Razer 18 or asus 18 or msi?
this thing is nowhere close to being “the fastest 16 inch gaming laptop” are u kidding me? with a max of 195 watts combined(CPU+GPU), it’s significantly less powerful than say the strix G16 or SCAR 16 which has a max TGP of 230 watts(240 if u choose manual mode). this dude lies to get perks from Razer that’s the only explanation
Who doesn't value Supreme build quality, it's more about the vast majority cannot shell out that kind of dough for a laptop that in 3-5 years will become technologically ancient.
Really great review. I ordered the Blade 16 RTX 4090 for our LIDAR and Photogrammetry work which requires a spec beast to perform well. What is the performance increase from 4080 to 4090 on this specific machine? Thanks

I like to mount my laptops vertically, I don't know if I can do that with the power thing shaped the way it is.
Razer has always done great stuff with thermals/performance, build and batter. Just wish they had uhhh focused on the price
I'm almost decided on this laptop. But one question. How far does the display go down to? Does it go nearly flat? I like to do that with my Lenovo.
Not sure why you are comparing against last years hardware
Will there atleast be a 15 inch model in 14 inch form factor?
They've got the room, why is there not a TKL keyboard? If it's supposed to be "gaming"...
What keys would it have with a TKL that it doesn’t have? Ten key less means no numpad, so do you just mean Page up/down and home/end?
people started to feel what inflation is, it's not the gaming laptops gone pricey, it's your income stayed the same.
