Love that the youtube page says "videos every week" still but its been over a year now since the last one. Sucks to see this channel die but hope John is doing well with the new shop.
This was one of my favorite channels since I’m a diy Harley Davidson owner. So sad to see it has faded off. If the shop is killin it and things are too busy I would consider hiring a person that solely handles video creation.
Columbus, Ga has a small town mentality. The city needed an independent shop. I wish you continued success. I will bring you my business after my service contract ends at the local dealership.
I worked as a tech as they call them now days for Tacoma Washington Harley & then moved to Florida & worked at Pineada Harley in Rockeldege Fla which is now space coast Harley in Palm Bay Fla but that’s been over 30 years ago now but if I was younger I’d do it again only have my own shop. Great commentary on your videos. Iam 76 next month retired but ridding my bikes now days year round which is great.
It is currently January 9th of 2023 and I love your content. I've been following you for a few years now and hope you're doing well. I've been wanting some content but wondering when you might post next? hope all is well with your family in this new year!
I've missed you dude. I started watching a few years back when you were at the dealership and basically left after you opened and started the shop and no videos were coming out. Glad your successful now! Wish you could post again
Dang man, I’m a new Harley owner and I found your “5 things every Harley owner need to tighten”. Liked the content and realized you’re off making it as a small business owner. I don’t blame you one bit, but I do wish you were still making videos.
I'm sure we are all in awe of how your business has really taken off, and we can understand how the time to make long videos, is just not there anymore, Always have enjoyed your tips and product reviews, I would really like to see an occasional, Tool use video of New installers, pullers Beating seating, I miss your "Tools to have " in the box Thing.
Enjoy your wrenching videos, with your knowledge to help me learn. Product review 👍 Excited your knowledge and hand skills have opened a shop. GREAT JOB.
I live in Indianapolis and everyone refers to it as Indy. Kinda threw me off when I seen “Indy shop” thought you moved here an I was like… freakin awesome! Hahaha Thanks for all of the great knowledge in your videos! Not only have they helped me but, I’m sure they’ve helped numerous people! Thanks! Ride on my brothers!!
Loved your content when you were at the HD shop. Although I do miss your vid's I understand you have a lot going on. Best wishes ! Maybe post a year 2 (or is it 3?) update when you find the time.
Another year past buy - hope you're doing well and the only reason we've never seen you again here is because you're living the dream and you shop is as healthy as possible!
I found your channel several years back. I enjoyed your content, and was pretty stoked to have met you during the bring it home event in Paris Texas. I pray you are doing well and look forward to more content. 02-23
I own a independent shop in Oregon and quitting my old job was the best day ever. I wish you still had regular videos but I understand running a business takes your free time.
Congratulations John on a year being Independent! That is truly awesome! Thanks for the update! I just wish I lived closer to have your mechanical skills on my ride!
How are you doing a year later? Much respect. Miss the old Tech videos. Keep your dream alive. I'm still planning on making the trip to visit your shop in the near future!
We just got back from a ride through Colorado and Utah (Moab) from middle Georgia. The runs from Durango to Ouray and Golden to Cheyenne will be life changing for those doing this for the first time. God speed and safe travels.
Your on track, running your business will seem normal very soon. You'll find it very rewarding. Been running a small business with inventory, machinery and walk in customers for 31 years. Piece of cake. I'd like a shirt too.
Been saying it since I stumbled upon you last year by chance desperately searching for other options than the ones that were available here. Columbus needed a Maxwell's shop and that shop kicked covid in the chops. Other businesses died off or just failed from the start. Your business exploded like a monster on steroids and that says alot. Preciate ya sticking with it and before too long you'll need a bigger shop. 🤘🇺🇸💯
You remind me of my local Indy motorcycle shop. They stay booked, they are constantly busy, the vibe there is awesome, I love them, and I wouldn’t do business with anyone else. My brand new 2021 Road Glide will go straight to them and not the dealer for the first service.
I have a 2007 night train sounding like the battery may be getting low or not charging. After a 13 hour work day went to start it early AM hours and it turned over real slow hardly starting at at the second attempt. So I tried looking at testing motorcycle battery on google, showed some you tube suggestions and third video there you are. Video was from the dealership days. You a green outer cased voltmeter you are showing in compared to the other volt meter he had on a Sportster you're testing it with testing for its voltage charging problems. Next video was this one suggested so I watched it and was impressed and glad to hear that you're getting through the difficult times and to see that you had still been in business. Congratulations on making it through tough times we just had. So sending colder New York wishes that business keeps going well for you. We need to go down and see that area and maybe someday stop in your business and appreciation for some of the past videos I did get to see as well as what you doing now. Keep up the great work and keep pushing forward. May the best days keep coming to you, your workers, your families and your business.
John, the best shop I worked in was an indy shop. The old fella who owned it was incredible; it was like working for my dad. That came to an end when he passed away. So glad to see you doing this
Went to his shop today absolutely amazing and good people. Guy at the front desk actually helped me put parts on out front. Keep up the good work!!!!!!
Run the business and be yourself. Your personality and lighthearted sarcasm are uniquely you. Have fun and keep rockin! Wish you had the shop in Northeast Florida, I'd be a customer!
John, Congratulations on your first year of business!!!!!!! If I lived close to you I would have you do all the work on my bike! Welcome to business ownership, I wish you well and God bless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Never did like the dealership either, used out of necessity, but now have a local shop to use for work that I do not want to do or have the time for myself, hope the event goes well
John we don't just like indy shops. In most areas they are easy to find. What is hard to find is an indy shop that has qualified techs such as yourself. Congratulations on a year.
Congratulations, finding out what you don't know is always surprise. Time. Time is not what you thought it was before. At least that was biggie for me. Every year has new challenges, and rewards. Good luck on your continued journey 👍 you will do great.
Glad to see you getting more vids out again. I wish I could have warned you about what you would be facing for your first year, but be honest, you wouldn't have believed anyone telling you : ).. BUT you will look back on this first year later and miss it, you will miss the "simple" problems you had back then. Take care and hang on, the ride only gets wilder from here : )
Hey John there are alot of us that watch and have watched your channel for a very long time and some suck as myself got inspired by you and started there own channel. Me myself I new there would be a time in your new shop opening and that you being you that ya would get busy and not be able to do videos as much but hey we FOUND JOHN MAXWELL LOL. Welcome back I'm glad to see you for sure brother.
Wow, it’s the Maxwell and he is back on another video. I am thrilled that the business has found solid footing in the best social distancing sport I can think of. To the rest of you, take care and keep that shiny side up.
Hi John. A little word from Europe where I eagerly watch your videos. It's nice to discover your way of living at home, to see the evolution of your garage and your teams. I wish you the best. There I am waiting to enter my sport glide snake venom. Long live all of you there and see you one of those days in the US. John from Paris :)
It was a real pleasure chatting with you today, it was a beautiful day and a refreshing ride down from Atlanta’s southern suburbs and for your viewers, I intended to just purchase my item to support the effort and Tim must have told you about my trek and you guys came out as I was gearing up and just let me say, great vibe, great group of guys.
Hey John...I bought my first street glide special in 2017 and went to a road glide special 2 yrs later...in that time and since then I have scoured the internet and you tube to learn everything a newbie needs to know...from pipes to cams etc ...annnnnyway in my time.doing so I must say that you are not only my favourite tech to watch and learn from but you have a way of making it easy to understand especially in layman's terms. I'm so happy for you that things are going well cuz good things happen to good people..hopefully one day I'll get to meet you and rip out that way from Calgary Alberta Canada...Congrats my man! Jim
People are afraid that the dealerships are going to hose them, always support ma and pa businesses as a rule of thumb. Great to see you posting again, please keep it up 👍
Hey John, glad the shop is keeping you busier than you had anticipated - that happens when you’re good at what you do - enjoy watching your videos all the way down in Australia. Thanks
My Local Indy Shop is (1 man shop) is going on the World Record Poke Run. He worked for a dealership before he got feed up and started his independant shop.
He mentioned it but the best thing about John Maxwell is his ability to talk to you. To explain what he thinks will work or won't work and the reasons. Whether you are a long time Harley rider with tons of experience or a novice with a brand new bike. His ability to convey information and knowledge is his greatest strength!
Great job John, honesty and humor is such a great thing to have naturally, and you show it very well. Look forward for more video's and how to repair our rides. Lots of luck in the future.
Glad to hear u made it so far bro , I do my own work on my bike 2010 softail heratige and watching u has helped me and saved boku bucks bro also not having to deal with the Dealer bullshit so thanks bro and I wish u the best
Hey John glad to see ya brother. I know your work is 100% time consuming so thanks for dropping in.Here in Columbus Oh,used to have that Homey type feeling and now counting the burbs we are at about 1.2 Million and it sucks !
John, please make a video of the common problem with the M8 oil transfer problem. there are alot of owners that need to be made aware of this and there is no recall on it. i had the problem on my 19 FLHX with only 1700 miles on it.
Thanks for sharing this video John. We are local indy shop too (Salisbury MD). We've been in business a little over 10 years and a lot of the stuff you said still resonates with us after all these years.. The highs/lows, the BACKORDERS this year, getting to customize the bike versus just giving people bad news for a repair, etc. And with RUclips we're always trying to produce sales content on our channel but it always feels hard to fit it in when there's jobs to do and customers to help. Hang in there and keep rocking! -- John, Shore Cycles
Yes but if you make it to were the more money you make and save the more they make almost as if they have a stake it it they will do so much better well most will
Good to hear things are working out. I always support my local guy unless I absolutely have to go to the dealer. He worked at the local Indian dealership until it closed, so he started his own shop. he does great work and at a lower cost, fantastic.
Like you I am a tech out of MMI, I had the intention to open a shop, and get some experience at a dealership. And I did. Now I'm thinking of doing it and was discouraged about oil and parts, but after this video I feel inspired again. Thank you for sharing the information.
Love that the youtube page says "videos every week" still but its been over a year now since the last one. Sucks to see this channel die but hope John is doing well with the new shop.
Still don't see many. Guess he and his shop is doing well. Good for him. Back looking at his vids cause I needed to look up V&H tuner reviews.
It's again well over a year John... at least let us know you're alive.
This was one of my favorite channels since I’m a diy Harley Davidson owner. So sad to see it has faded off. If the shop is killin it and things are too busy I would consider hiring a person that solely handles video creation.
You need to sell some shirts like the one your wearing. I always support small business, heart and soul of America. God Bless
I'd buy one!
Same!
All in do time fellas 🤘
Yeh I’m in for a couple t-shirts! Sign me up. 👍🏻
With button or snap down collars!
I miss watching your vids. I hope you are doing well John!

The Man, the Beard, the Legend. Congratulations on keeping your business up and running!
I got the same message you did, @oldyellercj7. Think it's legit? Lol
Jim E : No idea haha
It is NOT legit. Did not pass go. Did not collect motorcycles. Lol don’t fall for this scam folks. Figured I’d come back and let y’all know.
Thanks, man lololol
Congratulations! Glad to see you're back!

Great work Mr Maxwell come a long way for sure 👍🏻🇦🇺
I’ve been pretty unimpressed with all the dealership service departments I’ve been to. I’d come to you in a heartbeat!!
Hello, how are you?
The best "highly trained, unprofessional".
Cant leave that part out
Hey there John. When will you be coming through Colorado?
Your on track, running your business will seem normal very soon. You'll find it very rewarding. Been running a small business with inventory, machinery and walk in customers for 31 years. Piece of cake. I'd like a shirt too.

Glad to hear everything is going ok. Labor dollars can be such a headache, especially matching FICA contributions, but both are a necessity,

Open & honest... as always.
Nice to see you back. 👍👍

Having my own business from my first employee to having several, a good tip I can give is “no one cares as much about your business as yourself”
100% true
And the wife, she probably cares. Signed
Former bidness owner.
Familys are important too.Childern grow fast.
And you should never expect an employee to care as much, unless you share
Yes but if you make it to were the more money you make and save the more they make almost as if they have a stake it it they will do so much better well most will
Congrats on your first year.
Good to hear things are working out. I always support my local guy unless I absolutely have to go to the dealer. He worked at the local Indian dealership until it closed, so he started his own shop. he does great work and at a lower cost, fantastic.
Glad you popped up on my feed again. I'm sure it's been a wild year.
Congratulations on the shop and staying busy.
Like you I am a tech out of MMI, I had the intention to open a shop, and get some experience at a dealership. And I did. Now I'm thinking of doing it and was discouraged about oil and parts, but after this video I feel inspired again. Thank you for sharing the information.
Great video. For any person starting their own business no matter what it is. Fantastic advice. Thanks, John. Maxwell
Bullshit scam
Let's see more content John, I love the videos you put out! Hope the shop is doing even better now and that life is treating you well!
Congratulations on your 1st year in business!!
Dealerships are the reason I own a tire machine and most of the Jim's specialty tools to do my own work. Glad your shop has a following.
