@4:00 That's a great point, this would be very similar to a cacio e pepe. To be fair there are a lot of similarities in the backgrounds between the cuisines in that the dishes stemmed from hard times/trying to stretch ingredients to accommodate for large families. Very much simplistic in nature but refined so that it would be enjoyable as a daily meal. Nice video!
@@unculturedtravel For a casual Filipino place, I like Pampanga Cuisine, on Fraser. The sisig is one of my favourites there (with garlic rice, of course). There's also a place called Quik Bite in Burnaby that is part store, part restaurant (I think you've been to a few Filipino places like that in Little Manila in Queens). I really like the empanadas there, the seafood one is my favourite. And the puto is yummy.

You need to puncture that soup dumpling a tad, and then put in a lil’ soy sauce vinegar mix in it before gobbling it up…
Thank you for the technique tip! Puncture with teeth or chopstick?
@@unculturedtravel Chopstick! The designated Soy-vinegar sauce will then permeate that dumpling better..
Xiaolongbao is 小笼包 not (小笼馒头)
I tried and failed!
I changed it to 小笼包 thanks!
