Common Mistakes with English ADJECTIVES 👉🏼 -ed and -ing endings

  • In this lesson we are going to look at pairs of adjectives that end with -ed and -ing
There are many English adjectives that have two forms - one that ends in -ed and one that ends in -ing
An adjective that ends in -ing is used to describe: the characteristic of a person, a thing or a situation.
For example: It is amazing, it is interesting, it is boring.
An adjective that ends in -ed is used to describe: a feeling or an emotion. It is used to describe a temporary thing.
If you say that something (or someone) is boring, that thing (or person) makes you feel bored!

Here's a possible way to express that in good English:
"I absolutely love watching your videos! They're so engaging and interesting that I never get bored. You have a way of making each one captivating and entertaining. Keep up the great work!"
Or, if you want a shorter version:
"Your videos are always so interesting and engaging! I never get bored watching them. Great job!"
Or, if you want to make it even more conversational:
I'm hooked on your videos they're so much fun to watch and I always learn something new😊😊

Hi Emma, great to be with you after a real lapse.
Aren't these 'Participial Adjectives'? Your take on these adjectives is absolutely correct, but what if they are used as we use normal ones to restrict nouns and pronouns, like 'a burning question', and 'a burnt paper' or 'a burning paper, and the difference between these two types of participial adjectives is very much evident in their forms, aren't they? I'd love to watch on my point on your next vid on the subject.
    Till then, take care.

Humberto Arias No. Debe usarse "your" porque se está dirigiendo directamente a ella, y el interlocutor (ella) es el pronombre "you".

Frankly to say. Adjs ending with -ING are these adjs with active meaning while the rest ones ending with -ED are these adj with passive meaning

Hello, Emma! As in all your classes, your explanations about this topic was excellent. These two forms, -ing and -ed with adjectives turn out to be very confusing for us, Spanish speaking of English. Thank you very much for your classes. Alfredo, from Cuba.

The only question is, why didn't anyone explain this to me when I was learning English in school? And next question is, who translate to me this perfect Australian pronunciation and what roots underlies of happens.
