Brilliant even the swanny moments gave me lots of smiles. I wear a cycling cap under my helmet for sweat management, and I now realize tan management LOL. Great results to a difficult event. The video of you trying to get off your bike sait it all to me. WOW. And what dedication to bring a rice cooker impressive commitment to good preparation. Also, a huge shout out to dad a legend for supporting you like that well done mate. Come on everyone on like, share, and subscribe and become a utter nutter it's got zero social stigma I promise LOL. Go Maddy!
OMG I have never thought about a cycling cap to stop the tan!! Maybe that is what I need to do. I definitely felt extra putting the rice cooker in the car...but thought that if I can, why not! Sadly not something I can take on a plane ahah.
Well done Maddy for crossing the line joint first!! Great video. I rode DR and saw you briefly with a friend of mine who was talking to a friend of yours. You were feeding a dog, who was telling you it loved you, which did make me smile. Keep riding strong and putting out this great content.
It was such a good day. We camped (at the great site at Stonehaugh where they put on a brilliant (and cheap) fish and chip supper Friday night and a full breakfast Sunday morning in the local community centre) and yes is was a bit parky 🙂.
Always enjoy watching these. Also nice to see a cyclist who knows how important fuelling is. So many YT cycling wannabes think water and fresh air is all they need for 300km! Look forward to watching your future adventures unroll. Aero helmet to eliminate tan lines😀
Winning the rice as well as the (not) race… content - coffee, animal, Joe, Swanny, Amelia ( she’s from Yorkshire), recipe( kind of), racing, general epicness ….infact everything you’d expect from gravel and travel…. Great ride by the cllctv.
Congrats on your non win, win! I always wear a cycling cap under my helmet, then I don't need any sunblock on my face, just neck and ears. In the past when I put sunblock on my face it would always seem to mix with sweat and end up in my eyes. Also helps with not getting light into your sunglasses from behind and keeps the rain out on wet rides. Cheap to try...
Hi Maddy, I bought into your rice cakes and even purchased the same cooker. I have found them to be excellent. As as bonus the rice cooker does brilliant porridge too. Guy
That's awesome to hear!! I still need to try porridge in mine. Absolutely love the ease of the rice cooker. I am always so sad when I go away somewhere without it ahah.
Well done Maddy, looked like a fair old test. Too cold and way too early if you ask me, but if you're up for it and keen to go then I guess it's all worth it. I hope you learned a lot about fueling, pacing and fine tuning your kit for the Traka, reclom that was a good strategy. We'll see how good in the next video I'm sure. Great content, really enjoy riding along with you and hearing how the race unfolds. Keep it up, you're going well!
Your content is really good and also inspiring. Would he great to have a bike maintenance type video also (even if you have someone who does it for you)
Well done Maddy. Another long non-race under your belt. I’m curious as to why you eat so much rice before an event; obviously you like eating rice, but is it because it is easy to make and a good source of carbohydrates? Looking forward to the next race video.
Rice is actually not my favourite carb! I am a pasta fanatic. Rice is the best pre-race carb source because of its low fibre content (no extra water weight), which is why I also cut out a lot of fruit and veg just before racing. It also has almost negligible fat and is essentially pure carbs versus oats, which wouldn't stack up so well in a nutritional standoff!
Yes use the strongest sunscreen. Other alternative is a skull cap, or a different helmet. My aero helmet doesn't give me forehead tans. Edit: your not eating enough vegetables.
Before racing I don’t eat much veg at all, which is what most sports nutritionists would advise. You want to keep the fibre you eat really minimal. It’s not ideal from a health perspective but it is optimal from a performance perspective and everyone I know who does it only does it for short periods of time. You just make sure post race you find a way to get the essential vitamins etc in e.g. fresh juices or having a veg heavy meal later.
Top Tip!
Tear sauce packets open with your teeth so if it does goes wrong you can quickly swallow the evidence! 👍
Once again, Chapeau Maddy!
congratulations maddy! ☺
Those skies and views - what a fantastic advert for the whole event.
Thank you so much, very nice video among different once of this years dr, congratulations, proper sportsmanship there ❤❤❤
Thank you 🥰
ik heb veel respect voor wat je doet en er voor moet laten
That ending was crazy. The Super Swanny getting swannied in a race. It's like watching a movie about the Matrix while in the Matrix! Mind blown.
Hahahahahahha

Ahahahah Akira the husky does say that she loves you
Congrats Maddy ! Great sportsmanship on your part with Amelia's puncture, even though it wasn't (technically) a race 👏👏
She took a fair amount of wind for me over the 200kms, so only fair! :)

Super result in a non-race! Glad you kept warm enough to not get ill👍
Thank you!! Definitely a day for wearing extra layers
The fact you got that helmet tan and it’s not even summer yet is quite impressive.
It is an all year round tanline for me sadly aha

Hahaha aero helmet on gravel I feel is a step too far 🤣
Liked and a comment. Well done.
Cheers :)
Fantastic for both rides! Rest up for a bit 👊🏼
Thank you!!

Thanks so muchhhh!!! This AM isn’t from Yorkshire! But the other Yorkshire AM is in the next video as my chief swanny :)

That's a good shout! I am worried about getting a hot head ahah

Thanks so much for your kind words! Very different conditions to the Traka, but it definitely gave me a great opportunity to practise fuelling.
+4 for Swanny cam! +3 for tan lines. +2 for Pepper
We love pepper
I have the same tan lines on my forehead. Kind of a trademark I reckon. 😂
Fab edit , worth waiting for ... we need more Pepper content!!!!
Yes!!! More pepper content 😀
Your content is really good and also inspiring.
Would he great to have a bike maintenance type video also (even if you have someone who does it for you)
Definitely will do one at some point this year! Phil @ G!ro cycles in Esher is my mechanic :)
What rice cooker do you have ? Would be useful for my triathlon races too :D
I’m actually not sure which one it is! I found it on Amazon. Decent-ish one but nothing super fancy
Peloton is good stuff. For your stripey head that is….😉
I’m onto it !!
Well done for 'not' winning. Looks like it was drier than Traka!
Ahahaha a lot drier 🤣
You have great race content, and congrats on winning/not winning the race/ride! 🎉😂
Thanks so much!!
Ahhh, so I’m not the only one who travels with a rice maker to bike rides!!!😅
hahah love that I am not the only one

What sunglasses are you wearing .
These are POC's Aim sunglasses :)
@@maddynutt cheers I will look into them.

@maddynutt thanks for the reply. That makes sense pre race. Post race the micro nutrients from veggies are important for recovery.
@@GravelRacer1 for sure! I eat a lot post race. Just this video stops at the race aha
