OMG I'm dying here. Poodlegirl55 is actually Gloria and my husband of 50 years is the Mike. I couldn't sleep and got up for a bit, it's 2:00 a.m here. Oh K3n posted a long video, I'll watch 15 minutes of it and get back to bed . At 15 minutes suddenly it was Gloria and Mike and ripping fabric. I am laughing and want to go wake him up so bad!!!! I won't but we will have a big laugh over coffee in the morning. Thanks Kathryn, you are hilarious. App leeee kay on.

Good morning from Gloria and Mike! I can tell you he loved your hilarious story. It will now replace the one when I made a quick pit stop from my sewing room to the bathroom and heard a pin drop. Yes, I can really hear a pin drop. I searched for it but no luck. Then I thought oh Mike will find it with his foot for sure so I got a rag and mopped the floor. Still no pin so I went back to my sewing. After awhile I hear "What??? Why is there a pin in the toilet?"

I lost an earring down the toilet with a tissue from bedside table. Unfortunately I dropped tissue with left hand, heard the clink but as I realised, saw the earring in the bowl, my right hand flushed the chain. Nice filigree gold earring. 20 years on, I can still hear and see the episode.

Hi Kathryn. Wonderful vlog as always! We definitely wear jumpers in Australia! Love the freeing feeling of doing a nine patch this way after forty odd years of stitching with a precise sized square and a precise quarter inch! ( still love those as well 😊)

When I was about eight years old, I really really wanted a dog.
My family had had a dog before I was born, and my dad had handled dogs in the army, but I suppose having four children, they didn’t really want the expense and trouble of a dog. I used to get library books out about dogs, and I got excited when dad asked to look at one of my books about dogs. So when he use the phrase “I’m going to see a man about a dog,” I thought he meant it literally. When he saw my face fall as I realised it was just a figure of speech, he realised just how much I really wanted a dog. So he went and got one. She was the most wonderful dog and lived to a great old age.

What a wonderful start to the week. X Im going to use my little scraps in a nine patch to capture the colours of spring. Alas thumb surgery prevents actual sewing for a few weeks so ive temporarily stuck them down, with my husband cutting up the carefully selected pieces....,not easy to give instructions to a non fabric individual and stick with one hand and 4 fingers. !!!! You are so entertaining these past 9 weeks whilst i recover, ive got a backlog of sewing and your handy reminder to rest and exercise is well noted x x thank you again for the inspiration and mindfulness of slow stitch with little bits of scraps , im really loving it ! Ive adopted what you spoke about ...just a sample of fabric out for use and when i get short i go shopping in my very own collection. Im always discovering fabric , ribbon embellishments i forgot about so its all getting auditioned now !! x x

The grid of nine you made and then when you said that you’d love to make a cloth out of little squarish bits reminded me of crumb quilting that I have learnt from someone I follow on instagram and RUclips. I’m doing a crumb quilt (a mini one, for a pouch, what else?😂) by hand, because my sewing machine broke, and I’m loving it. It’s so nice to use all the unwanted, unloved bits that we didn’t throw away but have put aside.
I always have multiple projects: the bag you taught us how to, the pouch, a book…

This was so fun!! And when you said English Paper Piecing a lightbulb moment for me --- instead of fussing over cutting out the squares just so -- I actually started with my batting (wading) and roughly cut sizes squarish and rectangularish --- and used those as the paper piecing templates for cutting my fabric -- This wonky nine patch was such fun to stitch -- and I may even use the little blocks as canvas to stitch on top of .... maybe leaves to be a companion for my ORT tree from Marion.

I'm catching up and so am late to comment. Thank you so much for these videos. They are getting me through a bit of a rough patch in life. I'm thinking of combining some of my poems with some cloth pieces. Take good care. I am knitting while watching but am so taken with this way of stitching. It is very freeing and peaceful after years spent piecing quilts and fretting about precision.

Dearest Kathryn, such a lovely 9 patch and poem idea. The poem structure puzzle evoked haiku, sonnet, or sudoku. The freedom that constraints offer. I’m wishing I had one of those magnetic poetry sets for the fridge now. And Marion’s tangle tree; I gasped. Isn’t she a wonder? xo

The childhood I do remember is when I was crafting and making, what was called toilet water. A strange name for perfume. I was a collector of things. Nothing was safe. The older I got the more I felt this was ridicules and stopped. Now that I have been watching creative people on RUclips, I have felt my childhood fun come back and I love it. You have made my week. Thank you Oh, my true first name is Audrey LOL Now I am collecting onion skins. LOL My son calls me his hippy mom. Which is more like what I was. BRING ON THE LONG WAVY SKIRTS. Again Thank you

During a warm spell in January I buried some cloth with rusty pins all throughout to use in my book of trees journal. It is taking all of my resolve not to go unearthing it every morning as I am impatient to see what lovely marks the earth is working on it. I have set a time frame for when the first daffodils bloom in my yard to dig it up from under my stately oak tree. I first thought I would bury my journal cover but I am convinced the squirrels will make off with it. Lol. Hoping you will share your buried book results.

Loved your story Kathryn about your granddad! It made me think of my grandpa, and I only had one set of grandparents on my mother's side that were living when I was born. Anyway, If any of us kids would ask " where's grandma or mom" his only reply would be "she went to sh*t and the hogs ate her"... I'm 62 now, and I've never heard anyone else say that phrase. I don't know where it came from! and he wasn't any kind of farmer. 😁

My hubby, John, is a poet and ghost writer. I rewound you a bit and got him to listen to what you said about the grid or 9 patch poem. I’m sure he will come back with his own musings very soon.
Yes, Aussies wear jumpers. Aussies also have wadding. A lot of Aussie sayings and stories are the same as yours, I’ve always heard, and probably said myself, the reply about seeing a man about a dog, or going there and back to see how far it is. As for undergarments here in OZ, boys wear jocks and girls wear nickers.
I haven’t been making all your weekly projects, just one or two here and there. A friend and I did some jelly printing on worn white sheet pieces a few weeks ago, and when we held them up we saw the jewel tones shine in the light. I then said to my friend we should make a Pojagi curtain and she said what is that? Well I had to find all the links and share with her. Having said that, I still haven’t started. One day when life is not whizzing by so fast.
Stashes. We went for a little hour and a half drive today to pick up a large tub of knitting looms. (My 10 yr old home schooled sewing student has decided she’d like to learn to knit herself a jumper for Winter, she has just last week put the last stitch in her first quilt top. Next week we will sandwich it). We arrived at the destination and proceeded to have to car filled to the roof with so much yarn, fabric etc etc. The lady I thought I was meeting was in fact recently deceased, and it was her husband. He then asked if I could please help him pack his wife’s clothes as well and find a home for them. He was having trouble doing it and her sister and friends said they just couldn’t. Anyway, now my stashes that was more than sufficient has yet again grown. Oh dear.
    Cheers😘

Thank you for talking about Claire Wellsly Smith. I found her website and blog, and will be reading up! I giggle about all the new words I learn here. This week, it was "wittering"🙃 and you brought back memories talking about your 2 member club. For us, it was a 3 member stamp club that met in a hayloft. But I don't remember it lasting very long because we were [not] allowed to play up there much (as I remember). And even though you rant on about neat and precise slow stitch as acceptable, I am sure glad you do wonky, 'cause I am as about slapdash as it gets! When you talked about things your auntie, mum, and pop would say, it reminded me of the little notebook of sayings of my father I created the first months after he passed away. I am not binding my journal until all the pages are created. The first signature is the first 8 weeks, and this week is the first page of the 2nd signature. I estimated the spine will be about 6 inches wide. Then you had to talk about pages for journaling, so I will be slipping in some of those now, too!🙃 I am still stitching the cover and decided to add circles made using different techniques from the weekly pages. I truly enjoy these weekly videos🌷🌷🌷
